Celtic Woman - Siúil A Rúin Lyrics

Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom

[Chorus:]
Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

I wish I was on yonder hill
'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill
Until every tear would turn a mill

I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel
I'll sell my only spinning wheel
To buy my love a sword of steel

[Chorus]

I'll dye my petticoats, I'll dye them red
And 'round the world I'll beg my bread
Until my parents shall wish me dead

[Chorus three times]

Celtic Woman Siúil A Rúin Comments
  1. G.... T....

Siúil A rún means "Walk his secret" in Gælic.

  2. P.... G....

The Nightingale brought me here. What a beautiful song. really love it

  3. W.... M....

Eirinn Go Bragh agus Alba Go Bragh!!

  4. J.... S....

I was looking for this song long ago, then gave up. But since I'm a stubborn horse, I restarted the research and this time, I found it surprisingly fast. By the way, your singing is simply gorgeous ladies

  5. E.... ....

I thought this song is only in german. :D

  6. V.... B....

Is it weird if You want to pick up a language not because It's functional or because it has many speakers but simply because there's beauty in it ?

  7. J.... ....

Sometimes I like to daydream about walking along some misty Irish bluff at night time, with the moon and stars above me, and the sea and the waves beneath me. Maybe I'm just romanticizing, but one day I'd be honoured to visit your land see your countryside with my own eyes.

  8. A.... K....

Is it a crime to say that, even when this version is amazing, I prefer the first one (sang by Orla Fallon)?

Somehow I have the feeling that the sounds of this song and "Wilde Rose" of FAUN have a certain resemblance ^^

  28. E.... Y....

Translation for anyone who wants it:

    Come, my love
    Come, come, come, O love,
    Quickly come to me, softly move;
Come to the door, and away we'll flee
And safe for aye may my darling be!

I wish I was on yonder hill
'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill,
And every tear would turn a mill

I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel
I'll sell my only spinning wheel
To buy my love a sword of steel

    Come, come, come, O love,
    Quickly come to me, softly move;
Come to the door, and away we'll flee
And safe for aye may my darling be!

I'll dye my petticoats, I'll dye them red
And 'round the world I'll beg my bread
Until my parents shall wish me dead

    Come, come, come, O love,
    Quickly come to me, softly move;
Come to the door, and away we'll flee
And safe for aye may my darling be!

    Come, come, come, O love,
    Quickly come to me, softly move;
Come to the door, and away we'll flee

    Come, come, come, O love,
    Quickly come to me, softly move;
Come to the door, and away we'll flee
And safe for aye may my darling be!

    E.... Y....

Instead of come, it's actually "walk". Just letting you know.

  29. J.... L....

  30. f.... b....

    Faun wilde rose🖤🖤

  32. A.... L....

    Oh my god thats lovely!!!@

  33. M.... ....

Now I know why John Tams included "Johnny is gone for a soldier" in the Sharpe Soundtrack!

  41. S.... S....

This isn't as good as the older version with Orla

    S.... S....

I disagree. It is different, but I see no difference in the *quality* of the performance.

  42. N.... L....

    Lyrics:
    Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom

I wish I were on yonder hill
'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill
Till every tear would turn a mill
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

    Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

I'll sell my rock, I'll sell my reel
I'll sell my only spinning wheel
To buy my lover a sword of steel
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

    Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

I wish, I wish, I wish in thee
I wish I had my heart again
And they may think I'm not complete
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

    Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin
Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin
Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom
Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán

  43. A.... K....

I'm American and have no clue to my heritage, but I love this music! there's no traditions in my family that point towards any culture. But something about : Irish, Galiec, Scotish and Celtic music and places leads me into a dream from which I don't wish to wake.... ABSOLUTELY beautiful

    A.... K....

If you were born in America you are American.

    A.... K....

Yes I have, once I get the money to I will be getting the Ancestry DNA test

    A.... K....

@Freudian Slippers Just because you are born in america doesn't mean that your blood line is purely american. You see everyone in America aside from those native here all come from somewhere else intentional. So our ethetic background is mixed with many different things.

  44. U.... ....

  46. s.... ....

    Please join Eurovision!!

    s.... ....

    My exact thoughts.

  47. 1.... ....

I don't know what to do. I keep thinking I picked my favorite Celtic Woman voice. I can't. Now Éabha McMahon is my favorite. But it's been Orla, Lisa, The other Lisa :), Chloe, Meav, Lynn, Alex, Haley. I give up.

  48. M.... T....

i really want to learn gaelic it's a beautiful language but i'm french so it's difficult but my name's Gaëlle so....😁

    M.... T....

I would think a French woman would have an easier time learning Irish. French has roots in old Gaelic, does it not?

    M.... T....

@Michael Murdock Plus des racines latines

    M.... T....

It seems like we're lot french ppl here x) (Buut it makes sense in a way, French britain is celtic as well after all)

    M.... T....

Tkt c'est comme n'importe quelle langue faut juste de la volonté

    M.... T....

Try Duolingo. I'm Irish and I'm using Duolingo to learn Italian atm. :)

  49. B.... M....

    Eireannach agus broduil as 🇮🇪

  50. C.... R....

Who is singing at 1:10?? SO BEAUTIFUL

    C.... R....

Cassia Reyes I just ruin the song by singing with it

    C.... R....

Éabha McMahon. The woman in the orange dress.

  51. A.... L....

i really miss all the old girls. its just not the same

    A.... L....

i agree with you, it sounds a little more pop

    A.... L....

eabha is better than all of the old girls

  52. F.... 2....

    Super concert à Wien

  53. m.... m....

The melody is the exact same as of "Wilde Rose" by Faun :O Beautiful though!

    m.... m....

that is because faun at times adopts foreign songs in german, i'm p sure the gaelic version came first here. both are great!

    m.... m....

Siúil A Rún is a traditional Irish folk song but Faun did adapt it to German. So logically, they'd sound the same. Siúil A Rún, the Irish/Gaeilge version is the original though ;)

  54. D.... D....

    Why do I feel nostalgic when listening to Gaelic songs? ;-;

    D.... D....

motorhead misfit I don't think that's how genes work.

    D.... D....

Dear Diary I do too. And I’m Polynesian too 😂

    D.... D....

@Dear Diary germanic is related to gaeilge.

    D.... D....

It's the bloody Fae again messing with you.

    D.... D....

Yes it is at same a beauty and nostalgic song.

  55. K.... G....

does anyone know if there's choir sheet music for this arrangement that I could get somewhere?

    K.... G....

Kaitlyn Gaffney yeah There's one for saa. My choir sang this song my freshman year. Check jw pepper for it.

    K.... G....

    thank you!!

    K.... G....

    i need them too <3

  56. S.... ....

This song is my favorite. Its like your in a forest and your walking around the forest

    S.... ....

English is my first language..and I do say the English version of let it go..but that's just because I know it in other languages so people know which version I'm on about..If you know songs in many different languages it makes sense to say the something version of said song so people know which one you're on about..

    S.... ....

but if the person you were talking to didn't know what language the original version was in it would be easier to say something along the lines of "The original Irish version" so then they know exactly what you're on about.

    S.... ....

Just remember not to state what a persons first language is or well isn't when you have no clue yourself.

    S.... ....

It's fine, don't worry about it lol. Just some other people might get more offended and heated and bam you got a hundred and one hate comments cause people are crazy these days xD

  57. t.... p....

Can I have the lyric of this, pls somebody!

    t.... p....
