Celtic Woman - Danny Boy Lyrics

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
[Live version:] And I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when ye come, and all the flow'rs are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an ave there for me.

And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

I love Celtic woman, Wish i could sing as lovely as they do. God made them Angels of music.. My husband and I enjoy them on PBS. Makes me wish I could have gotten lost intentionally in the British Isles to paint the beauty. I am Irish one quarter ( full) in my heart). Angliophile to the deepest part of 'me' heart.I love the traditional and the Rock music . Enya and U2. Bagpipe pennywhistle and drums. i went once, too short of a visit. My ancestors are from Wexford, came over due to the famine.Happy New Year to all, be safe and pray for America to come to it's senses. Thank God for the great music to have coped for the past 3 years. If my dad were alive he wouldn't like the times we are in. Unfortunately his name is Don. I wonder if 'Danny' would have been more appropriate.I am glad he got me to Ireland.Thank you dad for the Irish connection. Peace to all, may the road meet you down a road hearing Danny boy as beautiful as this.

According to Dr. Bryan Sykes from Oxford University, after many genetic studies, England in approx. 85% Celtic, and the percentage grows in Scotland, Wales, and Ireland (N+S). Aye, we are almost all Celts. So I forgive those Anglo-Saxon, Viking and Normand invaders...they never did kill our collective culture...which makes this music special to most of us. My precious...

  93. P.... ....

I'm sick of all the irish people saying how this song is so dear to them because of their heritage.. You do realize It was written by Fredrick Weatherly, who was British... This song pertains to Ireland in no way at all

    P.... ....

The lyrics were written by a British man, but I believe the melody was Irish. I could be wrong, though.

    P.... ....

The Melody is a Irish Melody with the words writton by a British man to be exact
