There never was a Partridge Family - what you hear are studio musicians. David and Shirley did sing but studio singers sang all the other parts. Look up "The Wrecking Crew" if you want to learn who did the music. The drummer on all the Partridge Family recordings, Hal Blaine, actually was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - the only "side man" to have that honor. Look him up - he is the most recorded drummer in history and maybe the most recorded person of all time.

You are right, the Cowsils did inspire the creation of Partridge family television show but the music was all done for the Partridge Family by extremely talented studio musicians. Only David and Shirley participated in the actual recording of the music.

I will never understand Jack Cassidy and his resentment for David! I would be so proud if he were my son!

This song reminds me of the time in my youth when young love was blooming! The Partridge Family songs make me miss my youth!

All these years I thought Shirley Jones was David Cassidy's biological mother and now I know she was his step mother...I remember when David's father Jack Cassidy died, it was in a fire I believe in a hotel...

I Googled it and he did die in a fire as I remembered it but in his Penthouse..A cigarette left smoldering on a sofa...

Saw David in Houston many years ago with a friend. We asked his band member if we could have the styrofoam cup he drank water out of. Right as he was going to hand it to us, the cop on stage said No, it might cause a fight. Still great time!

It says in the description that Tony Romeo wrote it. Partridge Family ended in 1974. David didn't marry his first wife (Kay Lenz) until 1977. He married Sue in THE 90'S. You must be thinking of a different song.

I'm almost 52 now. When I was around 3 or 4, I used to watch the show all the time. I wanted to be Keith Partridge soooooo bad. He got all the girls.
I tore the plastic string off my wooden xylophone mallet and used it as a fake microphone while jumping up and down on my bed singing to the Partridge Family albums. Ha!

I pasted construction paper circles on a tambourine and I was Tracy.

I felt the same way about Laurie. I was a chubby 9 year old and I ached to look like her. I used my bedroom dresser for a piano so i could be Laurie. My younger sister would be Keith and she would use a jump rope with a handle for a microphone. We would put the records on and lip sync along with the records. We would play for hours pretending we were the Partridge Family, we'd go on tour on our bicycles, sit on our second story steps and pretend we were on the bus sometimes. It's hilarious to remember, but what a joy a childhood imagination is!
