Cash, Johnny - Redemption Lyrics
From the hands it came down
From the side it came down
From the feet it came down
And ran to the ground
Between heaven and hell
The tree of life grew
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
That started the fight 'Round the tree grew a vine
On whose fruit I could dine
My old friend Lucifer came
Fought to keep me in chains
But I saw through the tricks
Of six-sixty-six
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
From his hands it came down
From his side it came down
From his feet it came down
And ran to the ground
And a small inner voice Said "You do have a choice."
The vine engrafted me
And I clung to the tree

Thank You Mr Cash 💜
Let’s kick the 7 poor Assholes who didn’t like this
Thank you Jesus
Not that has "old music" was garbage, but all these American recordings are so powerful. Thank goodness Rick Ruben let Cash sing his songs with just his guitar and minimal accompument.
My favorite song by him
Wow ✝
I want this played at my funeral.
Tom Jordan finally the line is used on an appropriate song
heard this on the radio last night. so soulful n poetic. this guys voice is a fuckin treasure, thank god theres so many recordings of it
live version is better
One of my favourite songs
Spettacolare!!!
ammmmen
This is a man who stood against the establishment his entire career. He kept Satanism out of his music and left us a clear message....Christ blood washes all.
Amen....
Jon Griggs The man was accused of Satanist qualities his whole life and past his death. I’m glad you don’t see that.
Jackie Chaplin I think that’s because he always wore black. Initially that started out because that was the only color that his band had where they all matched. All people have to do is listen to his song man in black and he explains why he wears it. He performed those concerts at those prisons in order to let the prisoners know that there is a better way to live their lives.
I like this recording more than the one he did when he was younger. His voice was like a fine wine, getting that much better with age.
That's right.
His last albums are Gold. That deep voice, the delivery, the acoustic arrangements. The message in some of the songs, the history...
A lot of the songs give me goosebumps. They're contemplative and make me think about life.
Especially on the last album, "Ain't no Grave", you can hear his voice shaking and him struggling with some of the pronunciation, but he's still got it.
He sang until his final days.
Who knew a man in his last days could make the best music of his life?
JESUS......
It's because the older you are the more you have got to tell
To be fair, this was at least a half decade before he died, but I get your point. Rick Rubin focused on the melancholy vibe that Johnny’s songs always had, and amplified it to make some of the best records of Johnny’s career.
When i was little i use to sing thing this all the time, this was and is my favorite song!!
From the hands it came down
From the side it came down
From the feet it came down
And ran to the ground
Between heaven and hell
A teardrop fell In the deep crimson dew
The tree of life grew
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
From the tree streamed a light
That started the fight 'Round the tree grew a vine
On whose fruit I could dine
My old friend Lucifer came
Fought to keep me in chains
But I saw through the tricks
Of six-sixty-six
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
From his hands it came down
From his side it came down
From his feet it came down
And ran to the ground
And a small inner voice Said "You do have a choice."
The vine engrafted me
And I clung to the tree
just love it
