Cash, Johnny - Out Among The Stars Lyrics

It's midnight at a liquor store in Texas
Closing time another day is done
When a boy walks in the door and points a pistol
He can't find a job but Lord he's found a gun

He pulls it off with no trace of confrontation
That he lets the old man run out in the street
Even though he knows they'll come with guns a blazing
Already he can feel that great relief

Oh how many travelers get wear-y
Bearing both their burdens and their scars
Don't you think they'd love to start all over
And fly like eagles out among the stars

He pictures the arrival of the cruisers
Sees that old familiar anger in their eyes
He knows that when they're shooting at this loser
They'll be aiming at the demons in their lives

Oh how many travelers get wear-y
Bearing both their burdens and their scars
Don't you think they'd love to start all over
And fly like eagles out among the stars

The evening news carries all the details
He dies in every living room in town
In his own a bottle's thrown in anger
And his father cries we'll never live this down

Oh how many travelers get wear-y
Bearing both their burdens and their scars
Don't you think they'd love to start all over
And fly like eagles out among the stars

And fly like eagles out among the stars

+Han Shot 1st you thought that was funny? i thought it was sad.
his boy died a loser criminal and his only thought was "we'll never live this down"

    H.... S....

+Tamerlane Ikr.... In what sense is it funny? And the line is, "his father cries, will never love this down" not We'll. ??????

    H.... S....

+Bipin we'll never live this down, small towns news spreads and sticks, you'll always be known as the family who's son robbed a place etc

    H.... S....

You shitlords obviously didn't have shitty fathers, or you would see the little bit of humor.

Heroes are remembered, but legends never die.

    Z.... ....

He's flying out among the stars.

    Z.... ....

+Zeratul723 Isn't he deathless, though? Gods die but the spirits of music are without birth or death. They are the eternal.

    Z.... ....

He wanted to be with June... & I cannot blame him!!!

  64. p.... V....

Beautiful , great music, we still mis you Johnny en June xxx

  65. B.... M....

    Magnificent story telling!!!!

  66. T.... S....

This is what TRUE country is. Today's country has strayed so far from its roots that you can hardly differenciate it from the modern garbage. Alot of singers need to take a chapter from legends like cash.

    T.... S....

Actually modern pop isn't trashy. It just because most of the old generations didn't accept them.

    T.... S....

@Bryangantengful im just saying its barely sounding like country anymore. Nowadays they just figure you can sing about beer in a southern accent and call it country.

    T.... S....

I can see your point there mate, all the people that say Taylor Swift is Country, SHE'S NOT!!! She's a pop singer like everyone else is, modern day crap! Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings and so on... are REAL COUNTRY ARTISTS!!!

    T.... S....

@Dominator6281 yeah hopefully people will wake up and see how far modern "country" has strayed from what real country is

  67. T.... A....

This is brilliant! I've must of heard every cash song a million times now so a new song like this an this good is great!

  68. S.... F....

Quite a song really, which speaks to so much about the American Dream, so much for the American dream.

    S.... F....

The American Dream isn't dead, Responsibility just isn't very popular in this sanctimonious liberal age.

  69. J.... W....

    Isaiah 40:31

    J.... W....

Jennifer Walker best comment on here! you got the meaning

  70. J.... L....

I would love to start all over.

  71. h.... ....

You know, some artists might consider an album like this a major high watermark artist accomplishment, but for Cash, it's buried in his back catalog from a time when he was less popular. All those trends have come and gone over the last quarter of a century, but the dust has settled, and his music is still here. Picked this album up and popped it in after a long, hard work day. Every now and then, it's nice to be reminded that maybe there's still a little magic left in the world. The Man in Black may be gone, but the gifts he gave us will live on. RIP, Johnny. We miss you. But hopefully you're out there watching us, somewhere out among the stars

    h.... ....

    hanshotfirst1138 amen

    h.... ....

    Eternal magic

    h.... ....

So what?! Are you always "on Top" in your business? I guess no, you aren't... And, from your nickname, one could easily suppose you are tended to overestimate yourself. Compare yourself to Johnny - and keep quiet...

    h.... ....

@Steffen Pollex You woke up on the wrong side, huh?

  72. I.... A....

Un maestro total. Inolvidable y admirable.

  73. G.... W....

Actually most of Johnny Cashes songs are not written by him they are at written by other people and he sings them if you want to go true American it's George Jones most of his songs are written himself

  74. J.... m....

grazie johnny, ha continuato a stupirci e a farci viaggiare out among the stars!

  75. L.... K....

He really could write them to bite deep.

  76. C.... ....

I'm waiting for somebody to edit a load of Firefly clips with this...

We miss you Johnny, hope you're doing well out among the stars.

  79. g.... ....

Sad that Johnny couldn't be here to release this but in a way it's iconic. He isn't here anymore but his music will always live on. Not forgotten Mr. Cash! We love you! Some of his best work, even though it's all amazing. Will be buying. RIP man in black

  89. M.... R....

This is a masterpiece . A definite hit...

  90. L.... ....

    Johnny cash- A true American!

    L.... ....

Because he was half native American? Yes.

    L.... ....

@GavinN420 actually he wasn't... the book "Johnny Cash" tells that he used to imagine things and his roots came from Ireland. :)

    L.... ....

@GavinN420 no, because he was born in america

    L.... ....

+Otso Pänttönen Scotland, not Ireland. But Johnny Cash still really looks like someone who could pass as a Native American though, despite not having native ancestry.

    L.... ....

+LiamandLewisPlay Johnny cash- a true artist....He was born in America or he wasnt doesnt matter his music is surely universal and touching millions hearts including me.i love you johnny cash.
