Cash, Johnny - Four Strong Winds Lyrics

[Chorus:]
Four strong winds that blow lonely, seven seas that run high,
All these things that won't change, come what may.
Well our good times are all gone, and I'm bound for moving on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way.

Think I'll go out to Alberta, weather's good there in the fall.
Got some friends that I can go to workin' for.
Yet I wish you'd change your mind, if I asked you one more time
But we've been through this a hundred times or more.

[Chorus]

If I get there before the snow flies, and if things are looking good.
You could meet me if I sent you down the fare,
But by then it would be winter, not much for you to do.
And the winds can sure blow cold way up there.

[Chorus]

Still, I feel a big loss about him. With the years, it has become even harder. Johnny 's been my companion since I was 12 - and will be till I'll turn 102 or above...

Ya, I guess they've been sending the royalty checks to the wrong man for what, 40someodd years now? You'd think Dylan woulda noticed before now!

a wonderful song by johnny cash .i had the chance to visit johnny and june's final resting place a few weeks ago this song was running thru my mind the whole time .... thank you for posting !

It just occurred to me that what makes the later years Johnny sound so nice is that he sings thoughtfully.  It's as if he is writing the song (yes I know this is Ian Tyson's work) and singing each line as it comes to mind.

    B.... ....

BoxCreekTrolley I do that ofently, and it's music from the heart.
