Cash, Johnny - A Satisfied Mind Lyrics
How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind
Once I was winning
In fortune and fame
Everything that I dreamed for
To get a start in life's game
Then suddenly it happened
But I'm richer by far
With a satisfied mind
Money can't buy back
Your youth when you're old
Or a friend when you're lonely
Or a love that's grown cold
The wealthiest person
Is a pauper at times
Compared to the man
With a satisfied mind
When my life has ended
And my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones
I'll leave there's no doubt
But one thing's for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world
With a satisfied mind
How many times have
You heard someone say
If I had his money
I could do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten
With a satisfied mind

This song reminds me of my dad. Not a rich man but hardworking and grateful. He’s given me a better life than i could have ever wished for. Love you dad
Let's just all admit that we've all said if we had someone's else money we do things our way

42 people have rock salt in their chest. I can't imagine how bad that must sting.
Ya get your bony ass down here first thing in the morning ...with a million dollars in folding cash....and I will give you the greatest sword ever made by a man.

Убить Билла
The message itself is very deep, but how could anyone said do not try to be on top, when he is already being on top. That's what haunts me most.
Climb the pyramid but at the top you will only find empty air and room only for yourself.
2 words: Rock Salt
If u are one of the 34 people that didn't like this please tell me why??
Kill bill trailer seen!
Not many people know this song my grandpa actually sang this to me a lot I love him with all my heart
A voice of seasoned and matured oak.
True story. Remember the song "Satisfied Mind"? Recorded by many. Performed by even more. Somewhere someone changed it just a little. Just a few words. In the list of what money can't buy these words were added: "And your health when it's gone." Johnny, June, June's mother and sisters, none of them got to be very old. I knew them all. I am thankful for their musical legacy left on hundreds of recordings and videos. I can only hope there will be music shows in Heaven.
Kill bill budd
Great Song
Great song and lyrics, sung by the one and only JC 💙
With all due respect to Mr. Cash, i like better Darrell Scott performing this song. Check out!.

Bill Had A point in getting angry with Kiddo but didn't have to do that to her.
Instant Classic
Budd deserved better than what ended up happening to him.

Great cover by the Man in Black, made towards the end of his life...His voice was tired but his spirit was not...R.I.P. John...
ain't nobody a badass with a double dose of rock salt that deep in their tits
Even cash new capitalism and capitalist greed was evil!
Greed is evil, capitalism is freedom. Now feel free to disagree but the moral argument between socialism and capitalism is whether the evil that comes as a side effect with freedom is worse or better than the evil that is complete control.
Socialism is evil
yo vengo por eso kill bill

Not as much as being bitten by a black mamba, in my own shitty little trailer home.
I thought you were refering to supernatural but then i got it at all
best version imo
I know the man that wrote this song originally for Porter Wagner. My friend Shirley works for him and has given me the pleasure of going along with her a couple of times. I sat and talked with him and he shared so many wonderful stories. What an amazing man Albert March Banks is. He was never able to receive acknowledgement for his writing due to the contract at the time of selling the song. Well, he cant get in trouble if someone else gives him the shout out! Great song Albert!! You were and still are a very talented, amazing man! Congratulations!
Ahh the man in black, amazing as always. Please check out Jeff Buckleys version as well. It's also incredibly beautiful.
share Fbk c'mon ...
Who are the 20 people that didn't like this?
Ivan Rothstein Rich Capitalists!
pure gold
Wow! I was in tears listening to that. Growing up in the UK I never listened to Country music, then I watched Walk The Line and discovered Johnny Cash. I can't describe his appeal but as a man his music somehow touches my soul, to me he is a man's man, and his music has a particular appeal to men. Please don't think I'm not saying it's not for women, because his music is for all to enjoy, but I it has something that especially men can relate to.
You're goddamn right!
I am a woman, and so love his music! Plenty of women can relate, but maybe you are saying this because Johnny Cash is a man who sometimes writes his own songs possibly about his hardships. I get your thinking.
There is something about Johnny Cash that appeals to your soul, man or woman.
not gona lie kill bill got me into jhonny cash and i couldn't be happier(even black ppl can appreciate good music)
wolfbite6 they make most of it man
Yeah I was gonna say, appreciate? More like black people create all the amazing music and everyone else is lucky to be able to enjoy the talent
great song from johnny tuff....
A beautiful song that always makes me think of the wonderful life of my father in law, Walter Maheux.
And also the very sad life of a billionaire like Ty Warner, founder of the Ty plush toys (Beanie Babies). A billionaire who let his loves go, and was a miser. Not even helping his sister who is in poverty.
May we all work to have a satisfied mind and enough.
I'm using the line "Its so hard to find one rich man in ten with a satisfied mind" in a philosophy paper to succinctly describe Aristotle's concept of Eudaimonia. I think he about nails it.
I always thought it was rich man in tin (material goods); doesn't change meaning much
I used that same line in a sermon this past Sunday on the book of Proverbs!
usually I'd think a philosophy paper would have something like a deconstruction of Kant's intensional/extensional dichotomy and the difference between a priori and a posteriori synthetic epistemology but yeah, when you go to Podunk Community College there's a different standard.
Who the hell down voted this?
I understand how one may dislike Cash himself. For being a sad drunkard, that is. ;)
Maybe it was an evil johnny hating BOT!
maybe they just have a satisfied mind ?
suckers..
Just some rich men who think they have a satisfied mind.
Quentin+Uma+Cash
Just love this song so deep about life.
so much truth in a song. and johnny singing it to top it all off. couldn't be better.
An old Johnny Cash. Not the Fabulous Johnny Cash I first heard singing Rock Island Line or Big River. What do you say to that! I've enjoyed and loved your music for over 60 years. Your music is just great!
yessssss , even though i'm eleven I love his music
Yea.. that’s me too.. around 60 years.. first one I clearly remember is Ballad Of A Teenage Queen...Saw him in Belfast 1963 in the Queen’s Hall.. He opened with I Still Miss Someone, which was his signature tune at the time and again many years later in the Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell Co Cavan, where he never seemed to open his mouth more than half an inch..God Rest Him..!!
KILL BILL
mind your mind and mind what matters most... beautiful song...

@M L you obviously haven't seen Kill Bill 2. Long live Tarantino and Jonny Cash.

Thank you!!!
kill bill
why can't i play this from my phone?
excellent song to sing with you granpa :)
True Story. When my Father/Grandfather died, he was Thankful to have me by his side. He said, "I proud of you"
The way I look at it you can either leave this world believing you had enough or leave it wanting more
There are no more songs with lyrics like these
this wont offend anyone
while these days you get lyrics like
fuck this fuck that lets do drugs lets do alcohol
Lyrics that offend women and religion
@King Harry you could get shitty lyrics back then too, you just have to look for the good onesthere are songs released with good lyrics all the timenot all of them are so straightforward though
who gives a fuck if someone gets offended? "i'm offended" means absolutely fucking nothing. It's childish whining is all it is. It's just another way of saying "I don't like what you are doing/saying so don't do/say it".
The problem with songs now isn't that they're offensive. Some of what Cash sang offended some people. The problem is that most songs now are too shallow. They're about dancing in a club, money, or about nothing at all.
Am I the only one who thinks this song is very similar to 'The Angel of Deat' (you know, "In the great book of John you're warned of the day...")
The Man in Black...
this song inspires me not to earn so much money as i'm earning now
+UltraGaivalas Money can do good things, but if it is making you miserable ...
cham pokemon
so tru, I have monye but it give me nothing, no love no friends. im trylyva very lonye man and very unhappy.
Eleven people have dissatisfied minds
Fantastic song sung by a man whos tired. The best way to sing such a song, buckleys voice was too high for it, no offence meant.
@Jack Hemsworth But Buckley had the soul...
some copies are better than the original. not many, but i think this is one of them.
Kill bill
Chest full of rock salt.
My daughter loves. Johnny
Sounds great with his voice and guitar in A. My favourite version.
Legend!!
Chest full of rock salt.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Hey man I was just joking and trying to be clever. I'm sorry for your lost. I know they were great men. May God bless you and your entire family. Thank you for sharing that with me.
When I wrote this comment, two years ago, I was mourning the death of my brother, James Michael Jr. I read this comment today, and I am still mourning his death, as well as the death of my father, James Michael Sr. Doctors say, he had a bad heart, and died of CHF. Well, a broken heart and a heart that fails, to me are the same thing. So you probably think you're clever, with your little comment, but I'm posting to thank you. Before you I'd forgotten this song. Now I remember why I posted at all.
well with a name like chapter1tormented your not off to a good start
death is the wage of sin
Bill's brother Budd brought me here...
It was my dads first aniversary yesterday & I wanted a sing to play for him & I heard this on the radio. Sums him up in a lot of ways.
What a cool name. Gale Greenstreet.
My grandfather just passed away Aug 9th at the age of 85 and I just found this song. It reminds me so much of him and his spirited character. RIP Gale Greenstreet. 11-13-27/8-9-13
A legend, the late great Johnny Cash.......
Johnny Cash wasnt just some singer he is a man speaking from the soul.
