I can see why victims of domestic violence interpret the song this way. But I understand it differently. For me it's about emotional violence, narcissism maybe, getting near and then striking an emotional blow, (like she sings, you hit me right in the heart, or , you strike me with your silence) getting away and staying silent, getting back etc.... Violence ins not restricted to physical violence.

We do not know if it was a mistake or not.

It's unmistakably about abuse because Dom Violence Centers use it as their theme song during DV month which is now - October.

There's been a lot of disagrement about the meaning of the song. But let's agree that Nina's lyrics are genious. Perfect short stories. And she's not even a english native speaker. Much better than a lot of english speaking artists. She should get an award for her excellent writing skills. And let's enjoy this wonderful band.

@Frosted Butts It's not the artists interpretation it's what they actually meant when writing it...and my issue was that people in these abusive relationships often believe that they aren't in abusive relationships but 'passionate' ones hence why I pointed out that no this song isn't about passionate love but abuse. I think everyone interprets songs different as they should but on a topic as serious as this the mistaking of abuse for passion can't slide
