Cantrell, Jerry - Pig Charmer Lyrics

Well I'm a pig charmer, lie in filth getting off
I make my bed in a wallow, lackey, fill my trough
Digging through garbage bubble fried a pork rind
I pick and save all my scabs to serve up dinner time

And I say welcome to my sty
Throw my shoe, turn the light out
Come on in, get high
Don't mind the piss-filled bottles
Hack and cough, I write
Peppered walls I spit out
And my future looks bright... swelter geek inside

Way past halitosis, Mr. Yuk Mouth I slay
It turns out he's a big pussy, Satan hoof had its way
Two months no shower, cigarette methane fog
And if you ever need it I gave mean horse hog

And I say welcome to my sty
Throw my shoe, turn the light out
Come on in, get high
Don't mind the piss-filled bottles
Hack and cough, I write
Peppered walls I spit out
And my future looks bright... pretty sure I'm gonna fry
This time I hope I'm wrong, not right

Man I don't really want to die
Pretty sure I'm gonna fry
And I don't really want to die
Pretty sure I'm gonna fry
And my future looks bright

Well I'm a pig charmer, lie in filth getting off
I make my bed in a wallow, lackey, fill my trough
Digging through garbage bubble fried a pork rind
I pick and save all my scabs to serve up dinner time

And I say welcome to my sty
Throw my shoe, turn the light out
Come on in, get high
Don't mind the piss-filled bottles
Hack and cough, I write
Peppered walls I spit out
And my future looks bright... pretty sure I'm gonna fry

Man I don't really want to die
Pretty sure I'm gonna fry
Man I don't really want to die

Oh fuck I think I'm gonna fry
I really think I'm gonna fry
Really sure I'm gonna fry
Now I know I'm gonna fry...

I was 15 and 16 when i made these. These days I'm more inclined grammatically but some of these lyrics were off websites

  3. r.... r....

BY FAR THE GAYEST TRIBUTE EVER, ALL YOU DID WAS STEAL MUSIC AND WROTE SOME GAY SHIT

  8. v.... M....

that first riff reminds me of jefferson´s airplane's "hey fredrick", so i rather call him jerry airplane than pig charmer.

  9. A.... T....

I'm one of the biggest Jerry cantrell fans on the planet and only discovered this sone recently. It's freaking awesome. As a former addict, I know exactly where this comes from.

    A.... T....

Isn’t it fucking crazy that we hear the other GREaT songs from him so many years later?? It’s almost like Jerry’s Solo stuff was underground or something, but in reality was very well noted.. (I mean, the dude is worth 50 mil and doesn’t even act)

  10. J.... w....

Saw him live in 2002 in philly totally fucked up ended up in parking lot sleeping on my cuz mini van on the roof in parking lot drunk on heroin future looks bright..............song is my soul lived this albums lyrics pray 4 me...

    J.... w....

Saw him in November with AIC, definite bucket list item crossed out..
I kicked opiates for good just over a year ago,so it can be done I'm pulling for you dude.

  11. M.... ....

I could only remember the words "pig" and "bottle" from the song. Add "lyrics" to that and apparently it was enough to identify it. What a time to be alive!

  12. H.... H....

4:10 - 5:00 the high point of the song

  13. M.... C....

    nice presentation supercharger 2001

    Beyond perfection!!!!!!

  15. K.... W....

wow he is way creepier than layne! wish I had known about cantrell's solo music back in the 90s. sickening lyrics but I can feel the pain, the depression. I have chronic illnesses now,so I am always in pain and depressed. these songs help. #foreveraic

    K.... W....

    @dirtbagdarrell2008 not a chance

    K.... W....

His first solo album was in 1998 which means late 90s this one was in 2002 so not really 90s

    K.... W....

@DG 1 yeah, I know about the material was supposed to be for aic but aic didn't work anymore because of Layne addiction and instead jerry just made it also album, the songs might be written in the late 90s but we're gonna have to consider the album a 2000s since it was released in the 2000s. I really never comment on something that I have no idea about but I guess sometimes people think that I might know nothing bout it

    K.... W....

@DG 1 the other song is get born again btw

    K.... W....

dirtbagdarrell2008 yeah, Layne was awesome, but not nearly on the genius writing level of Jerry...

Jerry is hands DOWN the best song writer of my generation, in my opinion.

  16. I.... C....

"Satan hoof". Layne called him that

    I.... C....

@Scratchmade BeautySL Kytteh Wytchwood I know, I LOVE that interview!!! I've actually been researching alice in chains extensively for about seven months now, i came across some pretty cool stuff! i actually have an Alice in Chains blog, where i keep everything i can find about them, if you wanna check it out, here it is: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/lay-down-ill-remember-you

    I.... C....

    @Isabella Cunha
thanks! how cool is it that you research them?! :) I am definitely going to check out your website now! :D

    I.... C....

@Kytteh Wytchwood Yeah, it's just a hobby, but I look out for photos and phootage of them (on and off the stages), and I discovered some cool stuff, like some radio interviews, hidden songs, and even letters from Layne to his mom! It's pretty cool ;)

    I.... C....

+Isabella Cunha You know you stuff!

    I.... C....

Isabella Cunha 4 years later do you still feel that way?

  17. J.... R....

THERE IS ALWAYS a price for creativity....ALWAYS.

  18. -.... 8....

By far the best track he did on his own.

    -.... 8....

    No shit. It's amazing.

  19. d.... d....

Guys, Jerry Cantrell locked himself in a house for many months out in LA barely even showerering and wrote this album, after Layne died, I am pretty sure many songs are about him....just listen.

    d.... d....

@david duhamel "In '98, I locked myself in my house, went out of my mind and wrote 25 songs. I rarely bathed during that period of writing; I sent out for
food, I didn't really venture out of my house in three or four months.
It was a hell of an experience. The album is an overview of birth to
    now."

    d.... d....

+david duhamel Not "after" Layne died. Layne died just prior to this album's release. It was literally just days from coming out when Layne passed.

    d.... d....

    a full year

    d.... d....

I think he also wrote many sobgs about his own hate of self and depression. I think dying inside which is an excellent track was actually about his own disillusion of fame, and how it wasnt what he believed it would be. And on " his mother" would not have been proud at this time, i believe she is now though. This was a very dark time in jerrys life, since then he has come out on the other side, sober and still kicking major musical ass😎💟!!!

    d.... d....

@Flynn Taylor His mother is dead. Died long ago..

  20. S.... ....

There is some speculation to this song being written about layne, some obvious pointers here, like: "I don't really want to die, pretty sure I'm gonna fry..." But the only official song stated to be written about Staley was "Bargain Basement Howard Hughes" with the lyrics stating "Your life I belittle
    Dignity I'd steal
Now I know how it feels

    Stubborn bastard, hard head knocking
We had our good years too
Though apart, you're still in my heart
    I'd give anything for you"

    S.... ....

I think it is. But keep in mind although not very flattering, pain can often lead to anger when you feel helpless, you lash out, sometimes guilt can provoke it too. I think that close to the truth here. Remember jerry was still uding when d trip was being created.

    S.... ....

Dude, really? I mean, I get the OVER speculation from some who think all almost all of Jerry’s solo stuff was about Layne, but Degradation Trip was EASILY 40% about Layne, or at least their relationship. I only give that small amount because it’s been years since I’ve really dug into the album, and tracks like 31/32 is actually about Cantrell himself, but right off the jump the album is pointed towards Layne and his junkie, hard headed ways...

Then, who can deny Gone Away (written after Laynes death) wasn’t about him??

  21. F.... i....

I heard this song was written about Layne. Does anybody know if that's true? If it happens to be, then it's quite sad.
