Canned Heat - Bullfrog Blues Lyrics

Well, did you ever,
Well, did you ever,
Well, did you ever,
Well, did you ever wake up,
With them bullfrogs on your mind?
Well, did you ever wake up,
With them bullfrogs on your mind?
You had to sit there laughin',
Laughin' just to keep from crying.
Well, did you ever wake up,
With that one woman on your mind,
Well, did you ever wake up,
With that one woman on your mind,
Sit there laughin',
Laughin' just to keep from crying.
My mother got em,
My father got em,
My sister got em,
My brother got em.
I woke up this morning,
My grandmother had them too,
Well, don't you know about that,
I got the bullfrog blues.
Bullfrog
My mother got em,
My father got em,
My sister got em,
My brother got em.
I woke up this morning,
My grandmother had them too,
Well, don't you know about that,
I got the bullfrog blues.
Called up my doctor,
Was not feeling so well,
Well, I called up the doctor,
Was not feeling so well.
He looked inside his bag and said,
"Well, well"....
You don't need no doctor,
You don't need no pill,
You don't need no doctor,
You don't need no pill.
Just take my advice,
It'll surely cure your ills.
Head on down to New Orleans,
Prettiest place you ever seen,
Get on down to the river bend,
That's where the music never ends.
Open your ears,
Don't you feel good?
Get yourself one helluva shot of rhythm 'n' blues.
Go on down to new Orleans,
The greatest place you ever been,
Head on down to the river bend,
Dig the music of the Cajun bands,
Honky-tonk piano,
Make you feel good,
Open your ears,
To rhythm 'n' blues.
Well, did you ever wake up,
With them bullfrogs on your mind?
Well, did you ever wake up,
With them bullfrogs on your mind?
You had to sit there laughin',
Laughin' just to keep from crying.
Well, did you ever wake up,
With that one woman on your mind,
Well, did you ever wake up,
With that one woman on your mind,
You had to sit there laughing,
Laughing just to keep from crying.

Canned Heat. They summed up the age. Their lyrics skinned up a joint on the album sleeve.

such a shame sunflower could not get along with Larry Taylor bass player - i was terribly disappointed when this split caused his absence from the the 1969 festival tours - although i do appreciate Harvey Mandel -- but was a different band after that - at least this Canned Heat album preserves the original genius -- nothing like it afterwards IMO - cheers !

    F.... D....

as talented as Henry was, he was a hopeless alcoholic and notorious drug addict....Larry couldn't deal
    with his bad habits.

  19. F.... B....

    a versão de Rory é rock´n´roll ... é muito melhor que esta .....

  20. W.... A....

who ever did good this band is good there rocking

  21. H.... S....

Why do people always try and compare or say "X artist did this better than Y artist did it", they're, when will people truly understand that music is a form of expressionism, there is no good or bad, only what your ears decide are good or bad..

  22. f.... k....

Henry rips on this but Wilson is better

  23. W.... ....

Rory Gallagher beat the shit out of this jam. I love Canned Heat to death, they are a fantastic blues combo, but Rory made this song INCENDIARY!

  24. G.... W....

    Great bass playing from Taylor

  25. D.... A....

lots of great versions of this song, I am partial to this version.
lovely guitar, canned heat had some very good guitarists, terrible ending, it's the rhythm section that moves me

  26. n.... ....

You completely miss the point of Canned Heat if you compare them with Rory...

  27. H.... B....

Ok lads its goodish, just try not to be Rory.Lets Work Together On This eh?

  28. 3.... ....

    @Tbonetalker Well said sir :-)

  29. T.... ....

Not sure why people always want to compare CH & Gallagher. Both versions of Willie Harris' 1928 original stand the test of time. It's easy to tag CH with the 'mindless boogie' description but all their early records with Alan Wilson contain classic arrangements & great originals. Plus Wilson was a really great rhythm, slide & harp player. Checkout what he's doing on Bullfrog Blues.

    T.... ....

    Blah blah blah, yackety smackety.

  30. g.... ....

@sphinxcol Yeah, but Harvey Mandel was better.

  31. j.... ....

@spunkmurphy Lacks Rory's passion and of course Rory's guitar work.

Dear GoinToSleepBIATCH, you have performed a most generous and selfless act in providing these treasures for the benefit of your fellow humans. The World is definitely a better place thanks to you. The grounding in the blues may be just the factor that produced so many incredible bands back them, and the unwillingness of today's bands to cut their teeth by paying their dues may explain why so many current bands have so little to offer of any depth.

60's - the greatest time ever to come of age!!!
