I really like this song. It may be explicit in some parts, but I think I finally got the message: it is to break free from all the restrictions that your family/society has imposed on you, to do whatever makes you excited (feel the rush?) and not worry too much about other people's expectations. After so many rules and such an unfair treatment in her youngest years, when she's always criticised for every little detail, she's fed up and she decides to turn bad. At the end, she kills her daddy, metaphorically saying that she doesn't want to accept the old ways she used to live, but instead she wants to be able to fully express who she is, what she wants and what she needs, regardless of other people's opinions.

This is obnoxious, "I'm 14 and this is deep" type of shit. The only thing good about it is the smoothness of the music and the music's production. Costuming sucked and seemed like the budget was too thin for the motif (I got the same vibe from Melanie Martinez's k-12 costuming as well). The "meaning" behind the song is one dimensional and personally I can't stand when an attractive female singer gets naked or dressed in a super revealing way and then doesn't even have the nerve to commit to it so tries to play it off as "I was being sarcastic or making a larger point about sexualization and women's bodies being used as a commodity"...WHILE catering to a crowd of people that are looking at that same body for all the wrong reasons. If sex sells and you are looking to make a buck then don't do this lukewarm, half assed shit. Embrace it and boldly say that's your intention from the jump. Any artistic statement or commentary on society can be made without sexualizing yourself to this degree. I'm old enough to have seen this theme play out a zillion times and this one missed the mark.
