C. W. McCall - Old 30 Lyrics
She was mud and sand and concrete
Mixed with water made a' tears
From the rivers runnin' down the Great Divide
She was three thousand miles
Of rockin', rollin' highway
Far across the wide Missouri
To the ol' Wyomin' line
From the Jersey shore to San Francisco Bay
She was known to all the truckers
As the mighty Lincoln Highway
But to me, she's still Old 30 all the way
Now the Interstate goes screamin' through the backyard of her life
But it just don't send those shivers down my spine
To the Highway In The Sky
I'm gonna take Old 30 one more time
She was radiators boilin'
In the burnin' summer sun
And a blizzard blowin' wild across the plains
She was tumbleweeds a-rollin'
In the gentle winds of Fall
And the lights of old Grand Island in the rain
She was mud and sand and concrete
Mixed with water made a' tears
From the rivers runnin' down the Great Divide
She was three thousand miles
Of rockin', rollin' highway
A million mem'ries long and two lanes wide
Now the Interstate goes screamin' through the backyard of her life
But it just don't send those shivers down my spine
So before I take that exit
To the Highway In The Sky
I'm gonna take Old 30 one more time
One more time

C. W. McCall Old 30 Comments
"Old 30" is one of my flight on "Flight Sim X". I set the autopilot where I am 2000 feet above the ground. I have Microsoft "Streets and Trips on a separate computer. According to it. US 30 terminates at Astoria Oregon. The old US 40 is also labeled Lincoln Highway. It terminates in San Fransisco.
I live next to 30 in Oregon
I have many great memories driving my rig down the ole 30! This is in fact a lie. I live in the UK and can't drive a truck...i ride a bicycle. Great song though :^)
I grew up just two blocks from 30. My best friend growing up lived in a house just 30ft from 30.
I grew up in Clinton, Iowa where it crossed the Mississippi River through what was Lyons, Iowa before Clinton annexed it. We rode our bikes over the bridge. They replaced the bridge with a suspension bridge a few blocks South. Then they tore down the Lincoln Highway Bridge. Now you have to look for old pictures and postcards to see what it looked like.😢
My all time favourite CW McCall song

I like to think of my 1950 Hudson Pacemaker Deluxe as a U.S. 30 car as it was sold new by Oly-Eriksen Hudson Packard (dealer) in Boone, IA which has "Thirty" running through it from east to west.
Part of the old Lincoln Highway is only a few blocks away from me.
Wonderful song, you can see exactly what his vision is.
