C. W. McCall - Night Rider Lyrics
Night rider
Well, a-truckin' on the night line, quarter past five
Tryin' to get my rig an' me to 'Frisco alive
Fog lights up tight, a-givin' me the creeps
Night rider
I got a belly full a' jelly and head full a' pain
Bennies spinnin' spider webs, a-messin' my brain
Tryin' ta get myself together with a shot a' black C
What I really oughta get me is an hour a' Zs
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Look at those lights, 'til you've gone blind
Well, Alabammy Mammy got a spell on my life
Kansas City Kitty cut my heart out tonight
I lost a C-note in Reno off a' Keno and craps
And now Smokey's on the overpass a-settin' his traps
White lines lasers burnin' holes in my eyes
Feel like I'm hypnotized, think I'm gonna die
Interstate 80, gonna get me no sleep
Just a-winkin' and a-blinkin' with a stinkin' load a' sheep
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights, 'til you've gone blind
Night rider
Ba ba black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes sah, yes sah, three bags full
One for my master, and one for my dame
And one for Jimmy Bowen who lives in L.A.
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind (yeah)
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind
Night rider, night rider, losin' your mind
Look at those lights 'til you think you've gone blind

I never realized how good this guy was.
Why hadn't I got into this years ago?
I've been truckin across I 80 through Nevada for damn near 10 years and I can relate to night rider truckin through winnemucca all the time!
Life of a bull hauler!
This is not rap - listen again - there is actual music and talent here!!!
myhattrick haha I get it, cos rap isn’t real music hahahah
Finally, someone who understands that!
Looool. I can never take him serious when he says in is serious deep voice "I got a belly full a jelly" lol

Wait why is he taking sheep to Frisco? I'm sick of that maybe I don't want to know!
I’m gonna guess payment for whatever he was getting at the end of the song, but really who knows.
Livestock yards. Their all over the Bay area, and California.
Alabamy mamie got a spell on my life!!
This is the first rap song ever PERIOD!!
Not quite. Floyd Tillman’s “She’s Long Gone” beats this by about 20 years.
@Jake Penrod Interesting. I always thought Bob Dylan was credited with the first rap song (1966). Now I have to listen to the song you've mentioned! Thanks for the tip.
God bless C.W...and all the others
there is no exception for the master of trucking music. ..but C.W
Stationed in Missouri when this song was popular. You could talk 30 miles no skip. CB talk.
1 for my master, 1 for my dame and 1 for Jimmy Bowenz who lives in LA!!!!!!
I Thought it was Name, not Dame. Huh.
Spent several years trucking like this. Hauled livestock all over. Two C.W. McCall songs to relate to. This one and Wolf Creek Pass. Used to load lambs out of Yuma, way on the heavy side, and had to go over wolf creek pass in the middle of the night getting to Eaton. About a 20 hour trip. Now that I have a life with out trucks, it seems crazy to have lived this way.
I do alot of night driving. It has its advantages but it can work on you pretty hard if you let it.
As a long haul truck driver myself. I digthis song too. Night driving can be tough sometimes.
I can relate, the night breaks out a whole new dimension to everything. The mind plays tricks on you and you sometimes have really weird thoughts.
1975 somebody from the big city got a hold of this album changed the lyrics and claimed they invented rap like it or not your music come from country artist like cw mcall and red sovine
Couldn't agree more
Except that this is talking blues set to a disco funk beat and sounds nothing like Grandmaster Flash.
Bob Dylan is actually credited with doing the first "rap" song (1966, if I remember correctly). No, neither CW nor BD sound like Grandmaster Flash, but then again, GF doesn't sound like his predecessors, either.
does anyone know how to save this to put it on an iPhone???? iTunes doesn't offer the song!!
youtube to mp3?
Soon as he dropped the first verse I thought "this sounds like a rap flow!". Props Walmartian!
u need a night light too?
Always a good song. Does anyone have C.W. McCall's song Pine Tar Wars?
before there were white rappers the was cw
I like this song. I've always enjoyed C.W. I had him autograph a CD for me last year. he is a very down to earth guy.
Many of nights like this... WILDCARD will be on the side
Can Any One Post Camp Bird Mine, And Pine Tar Wars By Cw. These Are Great Songs And No One Has Posted Them Thanks?
