Byrds, The - Changing Heart Lyrics
You can tell a changing heart
Their face a smile and yet there is no joy
They look for wealth no matter what the cost
You're someone else that they might just destroy
A thousand voices lift their praise
For you have reached the top
So they give you all they got
But when you're singing from the soul
They fail to see your final goal
They only tell you that
You have a long ways left to go
So you rhyme the changing rhyme
With one wheel spinning and one on the ground
You place your name out in the lost and the found
So many people gather round
A thousand voices lift their praise
For you have reached the top
So they give you all they got
But when you're singing from the soul
They fail to see your final goal
They only tell you that
You have a long ways left to go

Byrds, The Changing Heart Comments
One of my favorite byrds albums
am i the only one that thinks this is a good song or what?
You'd be surprised...
I used to listen to this song at my happiest point in life things are very different now.......
Certainly not Lawrence.I think the lyrics are very potent and so true. The bouncy tune stops it wallowing.Liked the last two albums,Byrdmaniax and Farther Along, too, but lots of so called critics didn't.
I think Gene Clark was the only original Byrds member who took this "reunion" album seriously. This and Gene's other compositions were easily the high points of the album and his covers of Neil Young songs were exquisite. (I'm a big Neil Young fan, but the cover of "See The Sky (About To Rain)" on this album surpasses Young's original work. The sad part of this album was McGuinn and Crosby's apparent decision to hold their best stuff for their own solo albums. For what he contributed to this album, Crosby could have stayed at home (and probably should have). I'll always remember this as a Gene Clark album with the other group members playing supporting roles.
