Buffett, Jimmy - Who's The Blonde Stranger? Lyrics
Nothing like this way out in west Texas
Galveston Bay is a whole other world
My wife's in her room getting over her sunburn
How would Louis Lamore get me next to that girl?
She asks me to dance and says, "Keep your boots on"
She never met a number one cowboy
We rolled in the sand and drank rum until dawn
Who's the blonde stranger"
Who entered my life"
Making me over on the moonlight
This side of Texas is all new to me
Who's the blonde stranger who lives by the sea?
Sneak in the room just as cool as I can
Pull back the sheets and the bed is all empty
Except for a note left by some guy named Dan
My head got all light and the room started spinning
I stepped outside just to get some fresh air
Out on a wave was my own darling Lola
And some pretty boy with bleach in his hair
Who's the blonde stranger out there with my wife?
What were they doing in the moonlight?
This side of Texas is all new to me
Who are these strangers who live by the sea?
Back on the ranch and everything's normal
Beach blanket bingo comes on the TV
We talk in our sleep and then the next morning
I ask her who's Dan and she asks who's Marie?
Who's the blonde stranger, etc

Got the shirt for the song just today
As a kid listening to this, I thought he was singing, "Who's the blond stranger who entered my wife." I, as a child aged 5-10, never understood that line. I, as an almost 40 year old man, now understand that I was hearing the song lyrics incorrectly....but also as a grown man, understand that those lyrics might not have been completely off base.
I was at Jimmys Margaritavillle in Ocho Rios, Jamaica last month. I requested it from the DJ, and unbelievablely, he had never heard of it. He found it and played it, and seemed amazed there was syill a Buffet song he had never heard of!
John Hiatt at thirteen seconds?
--- still makes me laugh out-loud 30 some odd years later ---03FEB19

Lol spilling the beer when the lady walks by... nice innuendo ....
Such a great jam.. what a great snare sound..
Aloha 😎
I miss the mustache, Jimmy! Same bonfire from your album cover. Great album, start to finish (as all of them are). Thanks for writing songs any Floridian (Alabamian) can relate to. Ambergris Cay, landed there once in a helicopter and totally understood your Dad's sentiments! Wish Fingers was still playing with you!; he gave you that something something! Being an Army puke stationed in Germany in the early 1980's, I'd put on an album and you took me home to Florida! Thanks for that. Been a loyal fan (as opposed to a Parrot Head) since 1975. When the Coast is Clear ................. my thought's exactly!!
Ay !!! my favorite JB song...from my favorite JB album...great story great arrangement. .halftime ending...and of course ...he walks off with the girl into the sunset...
Louie L'Amour ...indeed!!!!!;
First time I've heard Louis L'Amour mentioned in a song!

Son: Daddy, explain the 80's to me.
Me: Men and women had the same hairstyles.
BEST. FATHER. EVER.
Love this song ....and all of Jimmy's songs..... Makes me feel like a teen again......
Happy music he took Jamaican beat and made great songs filled with happiness. Keep on going Jimmy.
underappreciated album but is quite amazing
That is indeed John Hiatt, he played on a few Buffett albums, love this album, some fans bag it because of the electric drums but I think it adds not only to the 80's flavor but also some how blends well with the steel drums, Anyhow Once again great storytelling songs and lyrics plus two heart breaking ballads, Just wish this and the other albums (CD's Kids!) around this one were remastered, surely there are enough fans for Mca or Universal (now) to remastered them or get Buffett to do it himself
Drums sound sick as hell!
Im 99% sure that is John Hiatt at :13
thought the same thing, had to rewind it a couple times
James Massa it is..John and Jimmy before really huge ran with 2 great Chicago guys who influenced them and were great friends..John Prine and late Steve Goodman..Many of Jimmy's songs on Havanna and Son Of A Son were written by Steve
Agreed.
For thirty years I've thought so as well.
Let's ask him one day...
That is..John has been a long time friend going back to the folk days of late early 70s. The circle of close friends that surrounded the late Steve Goodman were John Prine, Jimmy Buffet and John Hiatt

His music outside of the mainstream, like this song, is so good! There's a lot of people that don't know more than Margaritaville. Sad!
