Buckley, Tim - Chase The Blues Away Lyrics
Well come along walk with me
And learn the songs that lovers sing
When they believe
We'll dance along the river's edge
Just arm and arm along the moonlit shore
Well I just came to chase the blues away
For awhile
Just like a child you'll cling to me
From every sound along that rushes near
It's just the breeze that licks your skin
And rubs your breast
And as we lay our river's flow away
Your woman fear
Well I just came to chase the blues away
For awhile
With the morning sun we'll wake
And lift our eyes and watch the eagle fly
Up mountain high
And on his wings our love will climb
And never fail until he soars and dives
Oh, he'll take your breath away
Well, he just came to chase the blues away
For awhile

Buckley, Tim Chase The Blues Away Comments
One of my favorites. Loved that Tim was bending genre's, (rock, folk, jazz) in ways that still sound fresh today and defy simple labels. Thanks for sharing this.
Whenever you're not having a great day Tim Burkley details about how to chase the blues away there is a hint that the words aren't saying but with how you feel at this endition it appears that he was going through an experiencin the tone of voice that uis remarkable and whenever you end this song goes into detail what to do
through the storms of life causes you to be tossed to and fro it's who you turn to first that makes your situation turn out
tim Buckley puts of feelings that helps to identify to get through to say Jesus Christ was right to give yourself a hug that you to chase The blues Away and wind up having a great day
Apparently it's Brendan Perry's favourite album...
I just heard the MP3 I have of this... been hearing it for decades, and still blew my mind today.... what vocal work, what a unique jazz/dream sound...
Timeless, so eloquently defined the bushy depth of his extraordinary human soul.

Ciao da Trento....Ogni amico di Tim e' anche amico mio....
Tim really should have been a huge star. He was hugely talented. I'm sure carrying around this kind of talent though was a burden he strikes me as someone who was a secret even to himself. Very hard to live a balanced life when your talent overwhelms you.
I watched a doc which said he was kind of throwing his talent away before he died. He was refusing to play any of his old stuff at gigs and was pushing his new sound. His records weren't selling by the end. It's a shame, don't know what would have made him have that attitude.
Well come along walk with me

Just arm and arm along the moonlit shore
The midnight cries
Well I just came to chase the blues away
For awhile
Just like a child you'll cling to me
From every sound along that rushes near
I whisper
It's just the breeze
That licks your skin and rubs your breast
And as we lay our river's flow away

3 minutes in is wonderful
Taking my breath away - again.
Sad to see that 9 folks are still unable to chase their own blues away.....
Burt472 what do you mean?
@Stephen Routledge People disliking this one (at the time of my 1st comment they were 9....Now I see 11)...That's unfortunate
Immenso Tim
Every time I listen to Tim Buckley, it chases my blues away.
TINFOIL67 tin
Ah the river's edge. At the edge between everyday carrying on and those otherly kingdoms that we may chose to go to for relief from the now - love, sex, heroin, fantasies. And eventually he slipped over to stay.
j'ai redécouvert Tim BUCKLEY... magnifiques chansons...."Chase the Blues away"....."song to the siren","dream letter"....
As I said on another Tim Buckley thread, he was unquestionably the finest Muse Poet of the 20th Century -- and maybe of the past two thousand years.
fav♥rite
Both Buckleys took my breath away.
Breath was taken away from both Buckleys, sadly.
FolsomBluesPrison breathe gets taken away from everyone eventually.
I love this as my nighttime lullaby. ❤️❤️
Tim Buckley - Chase the Blues Away.
beautiful song...I love the guitar solo on this by Lee Underwood
He was like a beautiful passing comet.
@Lawrence Shore I felt the same about your comment.
I LOVE the ending part...
Magic. For me, real magic is a sleight of hand that stuns no matter how many times one witnesses it. I first heard Tim sing this in 1970. It still stuns me. Magic. I ramble - forgive me I am in my own 70's now. Thanks for posting this. Had to listen to it twice!. Bert
Thanks from Italy for your testimonial...Best
Thumbs up if surfs up brought you here
Fucking beautiful man, beautiful music!
Alessio Pani don't swear.
I'm pretty sure this song was used in the new film that just came out "Greetings from Tim Buckley"... it created this really haunting and heartbreaking moment in the movie. That's why I searched it. For all Tim Buckley fans, PLEASE try to see the film asap, you will not regret it.
Stunning song, sadly the guitar solo is a complete waste of time.
John Henderson you play guitar?
It is available in Germany :-)
Five of his first albums, published in: Original Album Series by Tim Buckley.
And I saw this edition on amazon.com for $32, so I think you can also buy it in USA.
Another song from this album is too outstanding to miss out on... Brace yourself.

@lana4581 Darn, now I had to listen to this song all over again. ;~) Your beautiful words resonate with me. Perhaps his voice sounds even better now, because he died long ago, than if he were still alive... Who knows? Although I can get quite high on Sting's voice, and he is alive and kicking...
@NovaScotiaChick yes I know where you're coming from, I have the same feeling of pain for Tim when I hear his music, so much I tend to only listen occasionaly-I wait for the beauty to fade for me over time but every time i hear his voice it soars and transcends like flame and seems to inhabit a more ethereal realm.
With other singers that died young, I think 'shame'. With Tim, every time I listen to him, it's a much stronger feeling. Like damn fucking shame. But with much, much pain attached.
I had never listened to Tim Buckley before... Shame on me. This song is a revelation to me! So sad and touching.
This is GREAT MUSIC. the greatest composers never topped this. Tim was a monumental visionary.
These arrangements in particularly seem too Grand to be put by a man alone , if Buckley wrote the bass phrasing etc ... you are absolutely right, somebody is yet to top what I´m listening to in here ... on the other hand it seems to me that the basic ideas ,rhythm guitar and voice were laid 1st and then the others had free rein to go over it as in some sort of jazz-y jam - if that is it the effect is astonishing !
Grandioso!!!
outstanding...mood heaven
youoregon1 what's 'mood heaven'? Is this a phrase you've made up? Are you able to explain what it means?
Unique and un-repeatable like all songs by Him..........
Burt472 when you say un-repeatable, what do you mean? Because Tim is dead? Or because any single moment in time cannot be repeated?
@Stephen Routledge the latter you wrote....JMHO
