Buckley, Jeff - Vancouver Lyrics
Lady
All the troubles are my fright, I disgust you
Feel the power you cut the truth into you
Why do you think I'd hidden out on this rely
I could kiss you
Please let me bring back these gifts of mine to the woman
His eyes shined on my back as I slept and knew you
You didn't leave it all
You made an even call
My belly released the stars
And tears between the scars. Ooooh
We're where we belong
It should end here
Until the end of time
That ends our bondage
I am your failed husband contender
I'm your loan shark of bliss.
This dream you've ridden on
Turns your world to explosions
You need to be alone
To heal this bleeding stone
Now, smell the rain of London it still insists
That we beg for our purity
As if we are pure in the rain of our contentment
As if I can think of this no more.

Buckley, Jeff Vancouver Comments
That richenbacker
This Is so amazing, 😍. I wonder who composed the music Or may have been a collaboration of all 4 of them? I know that he was inspired to write the song After a brief fling with a woman in Vancouver Summer of 94.. I wonder if the music was composed before the lyrics came together.
They have the same musical genius as the Genesis band.
Tune! ❤️
🦋ヽ♡`♪ `、 💕 `、•♪`、`、•♪`、`、•♪` O You!
Thenks Rick Beato 😌🤘🏼
This version doesn’t have the wacky bassline or the rickenbacker 12 string.... he’s playing a 6 string in this one. And this one is obviously more of an instrumental jam. But still an amazing song.
spartan876 he’s playing the 12 string here.
Sounds like something they wrote that afternoon during soundcheck.
wow this is way different to the album, like way!!!
Rick Beato sent me here
same here
Nice one rick, i fkn love the power of el interwebs!!
Hell yes dude. I thought jeff only had grace as an album. This song makes me excited to here the rest of that 2nd album if you can call it that
Me too lol. Great song
uuuuuiuiiii
Holy shitballs
Hello from Vancouver BC Canada!
( little shrug) You people don't know this one. Neither do we. perfection.
I wish there were more videos of him shredding 😭
¿Por qué tuvo que dejarnos? 😢 :(
before the lyrics...
Drums is INSANE!! <3 LUV IT
Nice performance
What the fuck was that edit from 2:06 to 2:08??? They're showing Jeff playing a different part of the song. I'm not an idiot thanks.
Liam Sweeney yeah the editing of this whole concert is pretty awful. Plenty of other shots like this. 🤷🏻♂️
Um menino LINDO e com um talento ENORME desses não merecia ter morrido de forma tão estúpida, como faz falta Jeff.....SNIF....SNIF....SNIF.....
Buckley, Cobain and Radiohead. The big three. Most others will be mere footnotes when it comes to true originals that emerged from that generation. Sadly, only Radiohead plays on...
Kinda narrow minded comment
This was Jeff's best song.
Glad it's not just me thinks that
agree 100%
Certainly one of them. “Morning Theft” and “You & I (Guitar Version)” are also amazing songs.
This remains the only time I've seen a heavy metal solo on a 12-string guitar lol
2:31 so tasty
I'm actually in Vancouver singing about Chicago hehe
The utter joy jeff looked like he felt at playing this makes me happy
ci sono cantanti che, per la loro voce, resteranno immortali Jeff è sicuramente tra questi, come Leonard Cohen , John Lennon Fred Mercury, George Michel
fica passando umas bostas no intervalo de uma musica pra outra
Aw that was disappointing when I realized that he wasn't gonna sing it
Apparently they had this as an opener jam often and he didn't have the lyrics until later. I'm amazed he managed to make the amazing lyrics to this rollercoaster song. His choice of melody to sing over this is equally amazing.
The word genius shouldn't be dropped lightly but in Jeff's case he was and then some.
Wow! ❤️
47 K ?! Really? I can't believe this shitty world.
"You don't know this one, neither do we." Classic.
* You people
Que gran versión, que gran canción, que gran músico.
Lyrics:
Ahhhhh ohhhhh ohhhhhh
ohhhhh ohhhhhhhh
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
para mi uno de los musicos mas originales que ha habido
es un angel
NOOO FCKING WAYYY!!! Song from Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk!!??
Yes sir
This is the earlier version of the song!
There's an early early bunch of sung versions of sketches stuff here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAokZRS7II4 enjoy!
I'm still waiting for His Resurrection .... (crying ) ... why ?! Just why !?
its okay. i'm back. give my some years to hone my talent
He was the Resurrection of Jesus, rip
Blessed be brothers, blessed bloody be 😭
He'll be back soon.
I MISS HIM.
what is the time signature on this??????????????????
+Cardinal Cora Not quite sure...but maybe it goes from 4/4 one measure to 2/4 the next?
the bridge is in 3/4 i think
2:42 for example
I wish he had ever sung it in the live versions, but I've only found instrumentals 😢
so do I, it's my favourite song of his ever.... and that's saying something because I LOVE all of them so much. What they turned it into in Sketches from this just blows my mind
+Amy Goodwin yeah, totally agree!
+amelia nolde There's one live version with vocals! Check out the recording of his show at Arlene's Grocery (his last recorded gig)
@Sean Thomas you're right! Just checked it out - funny thing that it seems that I had found out that gig once, but I probably didn't listened till Vancouver was played. Thank you!
No problem! By now, I've listened to that gig into the ground -- I'm sure you will, too. :)
sounds like a Wedding Present practice jam or somethin..
brings tears to my eyes, love you Jeff <3
2:05 blows my mind every time. What a great guitarist. :)
@Geoffrey Pelletier Yes, that version of Vancouver is better - downright nasty. The Chicago version of Kanga Roo is better than the Bataclan version.
I massively hear his Zeppelin influence in that moment too. Might just be me or I know he was a huge Zep fan
That's a 6 strings
Guitarists Suck it’s a rickenbacker 360/12 12 string
@Robert Nettleship he was a Zep fan.
oh thank god this version is up!!!!! love it!!!
<3 perfection!
