Buckley, Jeff - She Is Free Lyrics
Cold wind blow this waiting blood,
Flow into my ashen arms.
Ice stream prick my sleeping skin.
She is like the so black time,
Race on in and never go away.
Black Car, with your creaking wheel,
Take away these thoughts of mine.
Once there was a crazy man
Staring from his drunken eyes,
Staring stony into her elbow's way
Stared at me and tellin' me,
'Stead of 'oh, poor lonely me,
I claw the bed and I claw my hair.
Oh black car, with your creaking wheel,
Take away these thoughts of mine.
Pictures sing in rhythm with 'em.
Dig the holes for me to sleep inside.
She is free,
A shadow crossing the sky,
Free from hope and this misery.
She's beautiful, so beautiful away from me.
She is free.
She is free.
Instead of me is this creaking wheel,
Take away these thoughts of mine
Pictures sing in rhythm with 'em
Dig the holes for me to sleep inside
Black car, with your creaking wheels
Take away these thoughts of mine
Catch us sing in rhythm with 'em.
Dig both holes for me to sleep inside
She is free.
Shadow crossing the sky.
Free from hope and this misery.
So beautiful away from me.
She is free.
She is free

he sounds so young and shy here. I wonder if he knew the earth shattering potential he really had. I miss him dearly
But look at this this way...
You are free! Away from him. Free to browse his songs like a phantom in the sky. You are released, from his triumphs and charms. In retrograde you soak in his B-sides. A creaking disc with your fingers upon the needle. You are FREE. :)
favorite track of these recordings
"I'm a romanticist, Not in a nostalgic sense nor in a psychotic sense, but just someone he carries romanticism in his heart. It has to do with hope, on the one hand, and a sleazy kind of cynicism on the other. I love reality for what it is, but also the reality as it should be: without human blood flowing through African rivers, without the mentally ill who are condemned to a life on the streets. I still take the world as it is, with all its misery, diseases, villains, heroes and saints. I do not want to live in another era. Hippies are boring and nostalgia is just fun for a short while. I do not like to fantasize, but I do like daydreaming. I do no build castles in the air." - Jeff Buckley ♥
Wow. Thanks for that bit. "Reality as it should be" - that's the takeaway for me.
I know EXACTLY how you feel Gabrielle Lima!!
How am I ever going to get a boyfriend when the only man I have ever wanted is him.
omg I love you
He is the only reason of why i doubt of my sexuality.... :P
I turned bi for this man
@Scott Naughton he was very ackward in his skin in his younger days... in pain finding himself... I lived in OC... I know..:(.. too sad... he was consummed.. he changed so much being on the road... drained and trippin is the words
Jeff, before voice training. wonderful.
It's like a supermodel without makeup - still exquisite to behold
Jeff had voice training?
hehe, even John Mayer would agree with that! strange how this old world turns, when John Mayer is even mentioned in comparison to the supreme Jeff Buckley!
finally free,again, Jeff
i loves jeffs love songs. the happy ones or at least have a happy instrumental tune like jewel box and this one. makes one happy to feel pain as humans do and should. DONT HIDE WHO YOU ARE HE SAID SOMETHING LIKE THAT
what a lovely little weirdo...
I can't wait to order this album..just found out about it. I guess the internets are good for something anymore. :)
You´re welcome my friend. I hope see you soon in Chile, Lee Ranaldo is here in june, you could be the next.
Good day (10:15 am- Coyhaique, Chile)
thank you so much my friend!
Is beautiful when Gary talks about this song with Jeff. Greetings from Chile.
....yeah!!! Love forever from Slovenia
John Mayer is NOTHING like Jeff Buckley and never will be. Jeff's voice and is much more amazing. TINML is right, that comparison is a HUGE insult to Jeff Buckley and his music.
at that time I used a DiMarzio pickup on my Gibson '46 J-45 and ran it through a couple pedals into a Roland JC-120 amp--Jeff's vocals are going into the other channel of that same amp here!
i love jeff...hes my inspiration...i feel i just found a pot of gold ....thanks for this:0
so right, nothing else to say!
love it, love you, love Jeff! thank you soooo much, love forever from Ireland
Jesus, stop comparing Jeff to ANYONE!
There is ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON.
PERIOD.
Fuck john mayer.
Wow that's an acoustic guitar? How'd you make it sound so "electric" ?
a Buckley/Lucas song--originally a demo of just Jeff's voice and my acoustic guitar
recorded in my apt. in NYC 2/92
horns and rhythm section later overdubbed by the producer Hal Willner for our "Songs to No One" album
I wish I could fill that void.
Love Gary's guitar in this song. Very metallic sound
@parkercr JM is great but he lacks some of that aggression that Jeff had. Even on Hallelujah, there was a touch of aggression lurking underneath, which to me is what makes the song so powerful.
something in this song reminds me of Van Morrison
Shades of the Blue Nile too.
@TINML agreed!
GSC: ..out of your claws and HELL-to-the-NO, I'm not looking back. I AM FREE.
So beautiful...
i have the album this song is on. its a freakin awesome album!!!!!
lol yeah mayer doesnt come near in my opinion
@nat00ben06
Agreed.
So much of what Jeff did is about emotion, expression and independence with a slight touch of vulnerability @ the right time. He was so much about that his voice lives on forever.
Jeff, inmortal Jeff.
there's a song I found in daylimotion called "Cruel" where Jeff is playing with Gary, really great song.
Words can't describe
TABS FOR THIS PLZZ
you mean John Mayer sounds like Buckley? cause this sounds like Jeff at his finest. I think JM is great but he can't touch this
Yeah but an insult to Jeff Buckley
fuckin unreal b4 his time rip jeff
