Listen to Springsteen's studio version of this tune (his) and then you will realize that he performs it much better than Mel McDaniel - a dude who really couldn't sing at all and relied on other people's songwriting to produce music.

This song blew away the title track from that film. But then that's when Mick was shifting away from rock and roll towards funk, and I didn't like his style during that period at all.

It was the "B" side single of Glory Days back in 1984. Mel McDaniel released in 1986, so Springsteen had it first.

I own a 1968 Mercury Montego. Ironically, as I was wondering if I should upgrade my engine from the stock 302 Windsor that's still in her to a 302 Boss, and my media player was on random, this song came on. I think its a sign.

Bruce is just phenomenal. I'll bet he was at least 2 hours into the show when he sang this and his exuberance and dedication have not diminshed at all. It sounds like it could have been written by Jerry Lee.
