Bruce Springsteen - Reason To Believe Lyrics

Seen a man standin' over a dead dog lyin' by the highway in a ditch
He's lookin' down kinda puzzled pokin' that dog with a stick
Got his car door flung open he's standin' out on highway 31
Like if he stood there long enough that dog'd get up and run
Struck me kinda funny seem kinda funny sir to me
Still at the end of every hard day people find some reason to believe

Now Mary Lou loved Johnny with a love mean and true
She said baby I'll work for you everyday and bring my money home to you
One day he up and left her and ever since that
She waits down at the end of that dirt road for young Johnny to come back
Struck me kinda funny funny yea indeed how at the end of every hard earned day you can find some reason to believe

Take a baby to the river Kyle William they called him
Wash the baby in the water take away little Kyle's sin
In a whitewash shotgun shack an old man passes away take the body to the graveyard and over him they pray Lord won't you tell us,
Tell us what does it mean
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

Congregation gathers down by the riverside
Preacher stands with his bible, groom stands waitin' for his bride
Congregation gone and the sun sets behind a weepin' willow tree
Groom stands alone and watches the river rush on so effortlessly
Wonderin' where can his baby be still at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

  17. K.... R....

    Beautiful dirge

  18. B.... C....

To say this song is poignant would be an understatement. As a whole, Nebraska has only grown stronger after 36 years.

    B.... C....

this is one of the greatest albums of all time. it's overlooked because it didn't have any "hits", but its emotional punch has withstood the test of time.

    B.... C....

it doesn't have any radio hits, for sure, but the crowds go nuts whenever he plays something from this

  19. B.... C....

12 people couldn't find a reason to believe.

  20. R.... M....

I dedicate this song to my girl Sandy Longmire fuckface

  21. M.... H....

The boss gave. Me a reason to believe!

  22. J.... B....

“He’s wondering where can his baby be.”

  23. J.... F....

When you've nothin' but yer soul...

  24. T.... P....

not all hopeless, there is still hope

  25. T.... P....

only way to end the album!!!!!

  26. K.... S....

Reminds of the same message as the police invisible sun

  27. L.... M....

Ah, back when it was just Bruce, guitar and harmonica. I would walk 20 miles to see and hear that. What he is doing now I wouldn't go out the front door for.

    L.... M....

I used to like Bruce then I became mature
did he miss the draft or does he have flat feet

    L.... M....

He managed to flunk his draft physical.

    L.... M....

I saw him on Broadway, just him, his guitar, his harmonica, his life stories. I've seen him live going back to Darkness, I'll put the Broadway shows along with his best. That's what he's doing now.

    L.... M....

Devils and dust is all him with the harmonica and guitar

    L.... M....

hans wanker Ghost of Tom Joad is without the E Street Band. I think. There's probably some members doing something.

  28. M.... F....

    the best song of Bruce
