Bruce Springsteen - Pony Boy Lyrics
Pony boy pony boy
Won't you be my pony boy
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up whoa
My pony boy
Won't you take a ride with me
Underneath the starry sky
My pony boy
O'er the hills and through the trees
We'll go ridin' you and me
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-away
My pony boy
Down into the valley deep
Sky of dreams up above
My pony boy

"You know, for a Clown fish, he really isn't that funny."
"Pity"
Sorry-I had to!
My mom used to sing this to me and then to her grandchildren. I recently had my first grandchild and guess what I'm singing to him??? And so the world turns and life goes on. I found a recording of this song from 1909.
PBS Reconnecting Roots brought me here
Is it Patti singing with Bruce ?
Stay golden.... Ponyboy!!!! Stay Gold:))!!
What does "PonyBoy" mean?? (Yep, I've seen "The Outsiders" by Coppola - and know this song well), but still not really any the wiser, even after a good 'google'! (Found the sexual reference - but I think that's a bit 'niche'!)
The song was written in 1905 long before the outsiders
PONYBOY MICHAEL CURTIS
My chemical Romance yeah
Thought gonna be cover of Allman Brothers Dickey Betts classic lol
My Dad sang this to all of us. We had no idea that Bruce sang it.
my great aunt was deaf, but she could sing this song and love it when we all sang it with her...
It's such a beautiful song :) ♥️
Was just thinking of how I haven't listened to the Human Touch album in a while, deleted it from my library because I wasn't too fond of it and most of the songs honestly annoyed me. I looked up the track listing to remember what I was missing, this was one of maybe 3 songs I like on the album and it stood out the most. My mom liked this song and listening to it reminded me of her. I miss my mom :(
Pete, I agree. This and human touch were the best ones I think :) same here I love this song because my mother used to sing it to me many moons ago.
We used to sing this to our son. Now we sing it to our grandson.
Aw♥️♥️♥️
Reminds me of the teenage boys I used to see sitting on ice cream carts driving (?) a pony in Roxbury around 1944. It was the most glamorous thing in the world to a 7 year old. Does anyone else remember this? I'd love to hear more about them.
Our Aunt Alene Scoville Vieira, who passed away this year at 92, sang this song to my Grandson Cash Henry Peedan when he was a baby. It is one of our family favorites.
+stephanie huth I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt. It's beautiful that this song means so much so many. It was one of my families favorites too :)

Gta Dan I feel you brother. My mother has sang this to me since I was a child. She replaced “Pony Boy” with “Mason boy” (my family nickname”. It’s so wild to me how this simple song can completely calm me.
Nice rendition of this traditional song written in 1909 by Bobby Heath and Charley O'Donnell.
Nice song, I made my own version of this song :) feel free to watch it on my channel

One direction
Ja e 10 och älskar det
One of his best recordings.
My Grandma would put be on her lap and sing this to me c:
I sing it to my little man and puts him straight to sleep
Ah little kids come out with the craziest things.
Yes that's right, the original sounds very different to this version.
Ponyboy Curtis? Hahaha my friends little brother always says
"dufus Johnny" Instead of "Do it for Johnny"
It's not Bruce Sprinsteen's song, it was written waay before that.
And Wiki tells me 1909 by Bobby Heath and Charley O'Donnell. Obviously quite a different arrangement, but not written by Springsteen :)
This song played out my fathers funeral, great little song for a misty eyed look back at the good times!
Who is the one dislike... ?
There's always one out to spoil a party ;)
Same here, my mam used to play it for me :)
My mother sang this song to me....many, many years ago.

FLTania....so beautifully put: "Tender, so tender".
I came here looking for the song my grandpa used to sing to me while bouncing me on his knee! Miss mine too...
My dad sang me to this when I was a little girl at bedtime, and changed it to "ponygirl" for me. I wish I could go back.
This song is covered on a baby DVD that my 1-year old son loves. Upon a search for the song, I discovered it was a Bruce cover, which explains why I actually likd it. Anyway, my son loves this song and now sing it to him all the time. Thanks for posting.
Mine too :-))
I love it <3
