Bruce Springsteen - Froggie Went A Courtin' Lyrics

Froggy went a-courtin' and he did ride, uh-huh (uh-huh)
Froggy went a -courtin' and he did ride
Sword and pistol by his side, uh- huh, uh-huh, uh-huh

Well, he went down to Miss Mousie's door, uh-huh (uh-huh)
He went down to Miss Mousie's door
Where he had often been before, uh huh, uh-huh, uh-huh

And he took Miss Mousie on his knee, uh-huh (uh-huh)
He took Miss Mousie on his knee, and he said,
"Miss Mousie, will you marry me?" uh huh, uh-huh, uh-huh

"Not without my Uncle Rat's consent uh-huh (uh-huh)
Not without my Uncle Rat's consent
I would not marry the President, uh huh, uh-huh, uh-huh

Where will the wedding supper be? Uh-huh (uh-huh)
Where will the wedding supper be?
Way down yonder in a hollow tree, uh huh, uh-huh, uh-huh

First to come were the two little ants, uh-huh, uh-huh
Fixin' around to have a dance, uh-huh, uh-huh
Next to come was a bumblebee

My favorite tune from this album. There is something so nostalgic and innocent about it.🐭🐸

  5. D.... L....

    CRAMBONE

  6. G.... P....

It's an English song from 1548!! Scottish it is NOT!!

    G.... P....

Tex Ritter has the songwriting credit for this song. My (somewhat) informed opinion is that it's most likely an old American folk song, Ritter got written lyrics published for it, and the credit for writing it.
The real old-time folk songs often had no set lyrics other than a chorus.
The "chorus" in FWaC is uh huh, uh huh, uh huh.

  7. M.... B....

Well this settles it. Bruce can sing anything and do a damn good job to boot.

  8. M.... D....

    Check Gerhard Schöne Kinderlieder

OMG, this is amazing! I thought my grandmother had made up this song when I was a kid lol. She would make up silly stories and songs, so I figured this was hers as well. Maybe it was, and she taught it to Bruce. That's what I'll keep telling myself. ;)

This is called a folk song. Many people like folk songs. I have an Old Time/Mountain Music Playlist on my Channel with many old songs also. It might not be your "cup of tea". Thanks for stopping by, Moppet

Nothing irish about this song dude i cant hear anybody pling on the cows udders .
Its an american folk song .so drop the irish conection ..accordian and harmonica ..where the feks the connection ...tattie pickers
And yous now tell. People on utube The scottish are decendents from use ...so was scotland a deserted country till yous feckd off and sailed your rowing boats to the great scotland and its islands.
. yous were beat up and conquered by the Romans then yous left your so called heritage behind and all jumped on big ships and headed to the great usa ..,so bull shit
At least the scots played real bag pipes no the udders you squeeze between your knees.
Now go and listen to your harp !thats whats on your glass
Oh you didnt invent that either what did yous invent ...black water called guiness ..thats bout it ..then .theres no connection in the song now go and join your Europen freinds .......and stop trying to poach

I like this old Scottish folk song by Springsteen and the Seeger Sessions Band - very upbeat and happy tune. Love the video. Great work Barbara:))) #6
