i adore this song but something rankles... 100 years ago this song would've had to have been sung by a genuine revolutionary or signed up member to the Communist Party or the IWW - now it's sung by a (very talented) millionaire (billionaire?). The rich used to live out near airports so they could make a quick getaway once the workers took to the streets, We are now in a situation where songs about Killing Robber Barons and Netflix documentaries about Dirty Wars and Central American Slaughter are available for mass consumption and eye-watering profits... i hope its complacency rather than cocksure confidence, but i am not so sure.

His political personality is actually the reason for his great songs and the great lyrics, or why do you think he wrote 'Born in the USA' , 'My hometown' and so on? There still are amazingly good musicians, you just don't hear of them because they are not popular.

@UnperfectFeeling and somehow he sold out stadiums/venues all over the world during 2012-2014 and while doing so, was voted number one live performer....again...in his mid 60s, 40 years into his career. 

Hem guys, I agree that Bruce Springsteen is a good musician. And an awesome live artist, a shame he's so expensive. I'm just saying don't stick only to old music, there are some great recent musicians, like Cage The Elephant, The Orwells, Cold War Kids, The Creepshow, Wax Fang, Streetlight Manifesto, The Black Keys, etc.

I am a diehard fan and yet I appreciate some newer music.  His music is my "go to" and even though I started listening 30 years ago, so much of what he writes still "speaks" to me and I can find a song for just about any mood.  As far as his prices...compared to artists of his legend like the Stones and such, he is a bargain. Stones pit tickets are well over $200 or so...his highest ticket is usually $115.  And, you certainly get your money's worth and MORE....shortest show his last tour was 3 hours, longest was 4 hrs and 6 minutes, no breaks. He isn't an oldies show, either....plays his new material, takes sign requests for the things he doesn't always play, sign requests for covers (stump the band...), etc... never predictable, never stands in one spot..... well worth every cent all the way to what you pay to park!

there's plenty of new artists singing about the same stuff Bruce does. Actually do a little digging before you judge my generations music. Give a listen to someone like Dropkick Murphys or Rise Against....or what about Rage Against the Machine? Tom Morrello is in this video c'mon!

He ISN"T? He just finished 15 months of a world tour in September and will be starting back in February in Australia. He usually takes 1.5-2 yrs off, but mortality hit hard with Danny in 2008 and C dying in 2011. They will tour till they drop according to Roy.

He said he had no use for drugs. the people who took them were either assholes when they were on them or so out of it, it was scary. And, too many were permanently robbed of his their creativity and he couldn't chance that. He runs a few times a week and lifts, mostly vegetarian but is a drinker.

I can tell you a late friend of mine who was a disabled physician..had a brain tumor 19 years ago and the RT caused hearing loss, motor issues, and such could not afford good physical rehab, decent hearing aids and such is last few yrs in the US..would have done much better in UK. Man gave all of his life, never took a cent and would be on the receiving end for the first time.

WHY would that be bad? It shows you have beyond exceptional taste and know quality music and don't go for the lip syncers who won't be around but for a few more years (at most). My nephew is 11 and has been a fan since 4.
