Bruce Cockburn - All The Diamonds In The World Lyrics

All the diamonds in this world
That mean anything to me
Are conjured up by wind and sunlight
Sparkling on the sea

I ran aground in a harbour town
Lost the taste for being free
Thank God He sent some gull-chased ship
To carry me to sea

Two thousand years and half a world away
Dying trees still grow greener when you pray

Silver scales flash bright and fade
In reeds along the shore
Like a pearl in sea of liquid jade
His ship comes shining
Like a crystal swan in a sky of suns
His ship comes shining

Dear sweet Lindie, All the diamonds in the world, like you are to me. Shine brightest, in Hades seas. Like a ship, harboured in destiny. You are more, than that, to me. The reign, of a God, tears-up the sky,. for you, and I, to see. My Lindie, you are a diamond, shining on the crest of waves. You mean the world to me. Your Stevie

One of the nicest songs I've ever heard. It changed my entire view on music when I heard it played live by a very talented young guy leading our canoe trip down the French river. Wheat Kings by the Hip is equally used to transport yourself back to wear that music was shared to my friends on Lake of Bays on a pitch black night. Only the stars illuminated the sky and after 1am the northern lights started dancing for us almost on cue .... High gear...please try and find a studio recording of Bob Dylan "everything is broken and ring them bells." Not available on UTube. Everything is broken on the album produced by our incredibly talented music producer/ mr music Daniel Langois. Excuse my poor spelling. Album is called " Oh Mercy."

All of the diamonds in this world were conjured up by the poor and calluses hands. It is the man with calluses hands who can see the truth.

It's a beautiful song about Jesus Christ. Thanks Bruce.

"Wouldn't That Be Freaky?" by Jonathan Tad Ketchen (@NudistPoet & http://JTK.CA)

I was just listening to my 319 Favourite Tracks playlist by SEVERAL DIFFERENT artists on my iTunes in RANDOM order. As "After the Rain" by Bruce Cockburn was fading out, I said to myself, "Wouldn't it be freaky, if the next RANDOM track by SEVERAL DIFFERENT artists were 'All the Diamonds in the World' by Bruce Cockburn?" And that is exactly what happened! And I'm like, "No freakin' way!"

hey Jonathan Krieg???? Regarding your comment... "peace, love, joy, thankfulness and BTY, your video sucks".  I think you missed the point.  On another note, I just read Bruce's new book. What an incredible journey.  Thanks Bruce for your music, your openness and honesty.  And thanks cheezyfries113 for your video!

    L.... ....

I wasn't even aware he wrote a book. Did he mention his faith? I realize you left this comment 4 years ago but hopefully the tentacle of the cabal wrapped around youtube hasn't caused you to join the exodus yet.

good song, its interesting how I found this song I recently watched all the episodes of Joan of Arcadia and I loved the show and theme song. So I looked up songs similar to it and this is one of them. It is amazing how many shows guide people to songs they may have not otherwise heard

This video was made as a school project by some Canadian kid over a couple of year's ago..I remember this well. I am so amazed that this video has so many hit's on it. Pleased as well. It fit's this song so well. I hope he/she got an excellent grade or won the prize. In fact I believe it did!

  30. T.... G....

so beautiful, Bruce Cockburn is such a poet

  31. R.... S....

What beautiful work you have done with this video. This is one of my favorite songs in the world, and you actually did it justice with your video. I'll bet that Bruce himself probably loves your video if he's gotten to see it.

  32. B.... ....

I'm learning this song at school. I love it so much! We learn all these sad songs, but I like them ^.^

  33. s.... ....

He wrote this when he was in "Stockholms skärgård", as we call it in Sweden. I grew up there, hehe.

  34. W.... W....

In my top 3 Bruce songs!!

  35. j.... ....

Mr. Dan Sherman brought him to my hight school class in 1968. He's a brilliant and talented poet/songwriter who infuses his music with spirituality that carries one away. Wish I Had A Rocket Launcher expresses righteous anger. Very relatable artiste!!!!

  36. J.... P....

Thank God he sent this song

that was a lovely way to start the morning, thanks great video

  48. R.... W....

Great music from the days in which Bruce produced a lot of Christian music. This one really builds up my faith.

    R.... W....

At what point did his music become less Christian ?

    R.... W....

    @Francis Madigan
Hey Francis, I don't have a clear answer for that. What I *did* notice was that in the early '80s his music became more political with less of a Christian interpretation as far as I noticed.
Also he moved and began living in sin, so I gather. My *IMPRESSION* was that his more orthodox Christian faith was not as important as it had been in the '70s. But I could be wrong. I was wrong one other time ... around about 1963 or so. ;)

  49. c.... ....

    it was a school project

  50. M.... S....
