Brown, James - King Heroin Lyrics

Ladies and Gentlemen
Fellow Americans
Lady Americans
This is James Brown
I wanna talk to you about one of our
Most deadly
Killers in the country today
I had a dream the other night, and I
Was sittin' in my living room
Dozed off to sleep
So I start to dreamin'
I dreamed I walked in a place and
I saw a real strange, weird object
Standin' up talkin' to the people
And I found out it was Heroin
That deadly drug that go in your veins
He says:
I came to this country without a passport
Ever since then I've been hunted and sought
My little white grains are nothin' but waste
Soft and deadly and bitter to taste
I'm a world of power and all know it's true
Use me once and you'll know it, too
I can make a mere schoolboy forget his books
I can make a world-famous beauty neglect her looks
I can make a good man forsake his wife
Send a greedy man to prison for the rest of his life
I can make a man forsake his country and flag
Make a girl sell her body for a five-dollar bag
Some think my adventure's a joy and a thrill
But I'll put a gun in your hand and make you kill
In cellophane bags I've found my way
To heads of state and children at play
I'm financed in China, ran in Japan
I'm respected in Turkey and I'm legal in Siam
I take my addicts and make 'em steal, borrow, beg
Then they search for a vein in their arm or their leg
So, be you Italian, Jewish, Black or Mex
I can make the most virile of men forget their sex
So now, no, my man, you must (you know) do your best
To keep up your habit until your arrest
Now the police have taken you from under my wing
Do you think they dare defy me, I who am king?
Now, you must lie in that county jail
Where I can't get to you by visit or mail
So squirm - with discomfort - wiggle and cough (hack!)
Six days of madness, hah! You might throw me off
Curse me in name! Defy me in speech!
But you'd pick me up right no if I were in your reach
All through your sentence you've become resolved to your fate
Hear now! younng man and woman, I'll be waitin' at the gate
Don't be afraid, don't run! I'm not chased
Sure my name is Heroin! You'll be back for a taste
Behold, you're hooked!
Your foot is in the stirrup
And make -- haste!
Mount the steed!
And ride him well
For the white horse of heroin
Will ride you to Hell!
To Hell!
Will ride you to Hell!
Until you are dead!
Dead, brother! Dead!
This is a revolution of the mind
Get your mind together
And get away from drugs!
That's the man!
Back! Back

    B.... ....

I agree when senior George Bush was in charge of the cia he flooded the urban cities and what wAs call the ghettos with so much heroin it wasn’t even funny. So much deaths n destruction of families cause of it a lot of brothers n sister die. Yes in the late 60 n the 70s we were called the minorities and nobody gave a fuck about the blacks n Ricans back then they just continued to flood NYC ESPECIALLY the Bronx n Brooklyn it was total darkness at the time!

Wow! I grew up listening to The Godfather of Soul since I was a very small child. I remember when he first blew up in the early 1960's. He had so many dance hits. I never heard this record. I guess JB is The Godfather of Rap too. I used to enjoy him on talk shows and interviews. He was a super talented and extremely interesting man.

  47. S.... b....

King of Soul! Will never be matched. RIP brother.

  48. G.... H....

Lotta homies went down that road. Never came back

  50. J.... D....

Azie Faison from the group Mob Style sampled and did a cover to this piece, but instead of heroin he spoke on crack. I've seen with my own eyes how both drugs are very destructive whether you're a user or a dealer. James Brown is the man !! RIP

  82. J.... R....

    😔💉💔💔😔😔soo fucking true.

  83. a.... N....

    J Dilla brought me here

  84. T.... ....

I remember my dad playing this song, it grabbed me by the throat! I don't use drugs til this day. This is when music was reflective and intentional. We grew up in anti drug culture, now this generation is telling the youth, the teens that it is ok to pop Percocets, Molly and drink Lean ( Promethazine and Sprite). They are taking RX pills from parents who leave them out, drug dealers and think it is the in thing to smoke major marijuana, use meth and heroin and walk the streets high, woe to and Lord help any artist or person who encourages the youth to do drugs for the sake of music or a dollar!😡. We must be vigilante and pray for our youth daily, globally and not turn a blind eye. Our futures are not looking bright.

  85. h.... ....

His best song ever for me...

  86. D.... J....

THIS IS THE HARDEST SHIT I EVER HEARD AND MY FAVORITE SONG EVER MAY YAH HAVE MERCY ON MR BROWN SOUL 40 years OLD 1 st time hearing this never did heroin PRAISE the most high for everything

    Drugs kills!!!

  88. m.... ....

This classy style is what rap was originally and not what it is today. Follow this fantastic bass line and visualize the message from the God Father.

A coke head talking about heroin? The drugs "war" is a war to stop the middle classes from taking drugs. We are in the 21st century, and we are still being raided by the centurions to make sure you are not happy, or getting things cheaper. You want clothes! Only if they are taxed. You want a car, but can't afford a new one, taxed. You're poor and just want to get by? No way! You are going to regret claiming benefits and not having the system use you as a slave. The problem is America! If the USA gave all of its citizens $250 a week, just for being a human being, then the world would follow.no more homelessness, unless by choice. No more selling your body, or drugs to have a place to sleep.
It did almost happen, when Nixon was president he was considering a universal income. Do you know why the earth doesn't have a universal income? I will tell you why. No matter what your job is, they need you stuck where you are. If you don't pour the coffee or look after your grandmother, then who will? If you want to go for pizza, they will give you a slice, but you will owe them a pie. Slavery is not abolished and don't be told otherwise. If slavery was abolished then why can't you refuse a job? Why do people have to work to pay for a roof that they will never own or to pay for a roof and food, and do it again and again and again?
Why are prisons in Alabama full of African Americans that work seven days a week, and make the prisons millions, but half of them should not be locked up, but make the prison and investors millions. I have a dream! (No wait! Sorry I don't have a dream cause they don't want us to dream.
