Brown, Dennis - Words Of Wisdom Lyrics
Whoa! Whoa yeah nah
I will open my mouth in a parable, and sing the dark sayings of old
And much wisdom and knowledge stretch forth their hands
Unto you, o children, I cry
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jehovah, or men you will surely fail
Ooh, ooh, whoa yeah yeah nah nah, oh yeah. Ooh, woah yeah
In laughter the heart is sorrowful
Your folly is your reward
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than feasting where there is wrath
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Whoa yeah now now... Whoa... yeah! Ooh ooh yeah... oh yeah now
So take heed Jah-people, and live upright, for this is the time that will tell
When the righteous ones shall stand up strong
Oh why did the heathen rage?
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jehovah, or men you will surely fail
Whoa yeah now... mmm... Oh yeah, said you will surely fail! Oh yeah now... mmm... Oh yeah now
So I will open my mouth in a parable, and sing the dark sayings of old
So much wisdom and knowledge stretch forth their hands
Unto you, o children, I cry
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jehovah, or men you will surely fail
Ooh mmm. Oh yeah now mmm. Ooh mmm. Whoa yeah now now
Live up, live up, now now, live up! Never give up righteousness
Oh yeah now, keep it up, son, follow the footsteps of your father
Oh yeah nah now. Words of wisdom, words of wisdom, words of wisdom I hold to. I said I hold to, ooh...

Woo-oo-oo.. woah-yeah now
I will open my mouth in a parable
And sing the dark sayings of old
And much wisdom and knowledge stretch forth their hands
Unto you, o children, I cry
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jahovah
Or men you will surely fail, ooh-ooh
Woah yeah yeah nah-nah, oh yeah
Ooh, woahohoh yeah
In laughter the heart is sorrowful
Your folly is your reward
Better a dinner of herbs where love is
Than feasting where there is wrath
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jahovah
Or men you will surely fail
Woah yeah now, now
Woah-oh-oh yeah! Ooh-ooh yeah - oh yeah now
(..)
So take heed Jah people and live upright
For this is the time that will tell
When the righteous ones, shall stand up strong
Oh, why did the heathen rage?
All the words of my mouth speak righteousness
All the days of my life will tell
Take heed of the words of Jahovah
Or men you will surely fail
Woah yeah now, hmm, oh yeah, said you will surely fail
Oh yeah now, hmm, oh yeah now
So I will open my mouth in a parable
And sing the dark sayings of old

Ooh hmm, oh yeah now, hmm, ooh, hmm
Woah yeah, now, now
Live up, live up, now now, live up
Never give up righteousness!
Oh yeah now, keep it up, son
Follow the footsteps of your Father!

Words of wisdom, words of wisdom
Words of wisdom I hold to
I said I hold to, ooh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah..

big tune another of my favourite
JUST LISTENING TODAY, FEBRUARY 10, TO THE WKCR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF BOB MARLEY AND DENNIS BROWN, BOTH BORN IN FEBRUARY. I'VE POSTED MANY MANY MARLEY SONGS, BUT MAYBE NEVER DENNIS BROWN. LISTENING OVER THE RADIO TO DENNIS, I'M FEELING IT SO LET'S LISTEN TO 2 OF HIS SONGS.
From Wiki. "Dennis Emmanuel Brown (February 1 1957 – July 1 1999) was a Jamaican reggae singer. During his prolific career, which began in the late 1960's when he was aged eleven, he recorded more than 75 albums and was one of the major stars of lovers rock, a subgenre of reggae. Bob Marley cited Brown as his favorite singer, dubbing him "The Crown Prince of Reggae", and Brown would prove influential on future generations of reggae singers."
For a long time I couldn't get into his singing. I felt his voice was not "roots" enough. I liked something less perfect, less rounded, and less polished. Looking back on it that was my problem. I've since come to really appreciate his singing.
First up is the title song of one of his most famous albums, Words Of Wisdom, released in 1979. This is a very great song.
Found this song on a old best of reggae, glad It was on YT
