Brett Dennen - There Is So Much More Lyrics
When I heard the news,
my heart fell on the floor.
I was on a plane on my way to Baltimore.
In these troubled times it's hard enough as it is.
My soul has a known a better life than this.
I wonder how so many can be in so much pain,
while others don't seem to feel a thing.
Then I curse my whiteness
and I get so damn depressed.
In a world of suffering,
why should I be so blessed?
I heard about a women who lives in Colorado.
She built a monument of sorts behind the garage door,
where everyday she prays for all whom are born
Sometimes my trouble gets so thick,
I can't see how I'm gonna get through it.
But, then I'd rather be stuck up in a tree
then be tied to it.
There is so much more.
I don't feel comfortable with the way my clothes fit.
I cant get used to my body's limits.
I got some fancy shoes to try and kick away these blues.
They cost a lot of money but they aren't worth a thing.
I wanna free my feet from the broken glass and concrete.
I need to get out of this city.
Lay upon the ground stare a hole in the sky,
wondering where I go when I die.
...When I die.

Brett Dennen There Is So Much More Comments
Quando soube das notícias
Meu coração caiu no chão
Eu estava num avião a caminho de Baltimore
Nesses tempos conturbados, já é bem difícil como é,
Minha alma conheceu vida melhor que esta
Eu me perguntei quantos poderiam estar com tanta dor,
Eu sei
Quero libertar meus pés do vidro quebrado e do concreto.
Preciso dar o fora dessa cidade,
Deitar no chão e e encarar um buraco no céu
Me perguntando para onde eu vou quando morrer,
Quando eu morrer...
That line about the woman in Colorado floors me no matter how many times I hear it.
from New Amsterdam's E1 S2
Anybody for New Amsterdam season 2?

I’m glad New Amsterdam brought me here!!
Hannah Williams keep looking up cause that’s where it all is-this too will pass : )
Yup. Dr. Frome giving his crocs to a homeless woman.
Can’t wait!! Love the show and going to see Brett in concert this year!
I heard this for the first time today in the car. Hauntingly familiar, such depth of insight. Great song, very nicely composed.
White knight self pity
An ode to Brett's white guilt and virtue signaling
I have never heard such a bad job of lyrics or such a whiney vocal line as this song. I got a link to this song to encourage a songwriter friend that he is better than this and this song got air play.
Don I got a link to your father in the past, kindly asked him not to procreate with your mother to avoid putting such a tasteless, bland, judgmental human being on this earth. I hope he listened
Love the vibe yeah it good
OMG FUCKING CARBON COPYS OF SO MANY PEOPLE DAMIAN RICE MUCH PASSENGER SO MANY HOW MANY SONGS CAN YOU SING WITH OPEN CHORDS EM C D G AND YOUR LYRICS ARE SO BAD
Love ❤️
So sad comments have just all but stopped! This song is so powerful especially in the current state of our society!
"Then I Curse My Whiteness" Moron
I do not think it is because he hates his whiteness but the empathy he feels towards others that do not have it as good, it is a metaphor to indicate that some have more obstacles than others, it is hard to convey feelings into words in the condensation of a song. Clearly the Man is not a moron, how many songs have you written?
Pappa Michael don’t waste your breath on idiots
@Pappa Michael right, cursing your whiteness is not hatred of yourself, its understanding that a lot of people have less than you, and they have that lack not because they deserve less, but because of a trait they were born with. its bull, anyone with a real sense of fairness would feel the same, but some are unable to see humanity in people who look marginally different than them. also, when you get a bad sunburn.
@Ryan Weible Perhaps he should eat some of those shrooms he picks and open up his mind to free thought?
this song though
So beautiful!!
We're all in this together. I hope 😒
Jack Johnson RIP Steven Cross

This song makes me smile. Fits me well.
I wonder how so many could be in so much pain, while others don't seem to feel a thing.
+Dm Reynolds I agree, Dm, this is maybe my favorite song from Brett. I'm 67 and love playing and singing this song and that line gets me every time.
BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!
This reminds me of Passenger's Feather on the Clyde
+myoopoo I didn't realize that until now. Love Passenger, especially their old stuff. Walk You Home (Night Vision Binoculars) is probably my favorite song of theirs.
myoopoo
Good bye Chris...I'll always miss you. This song reminds me of you.
You're up set about something out of your control? Your upset about having a good life? Dont be.. just recognize that there are others who dont and share your kindness with them, dont waste time by complaining about how you wish you could be guilt free by suffering along with them.
Blessed Be to that I say .

I discovered Brett on a Carson Daly show feature a few years ago. His music is so rich. This song is . . . so interesting and full of texture.
He proves gingers have souls
This is one of the best singer/songwriters I have ever heard. Ain't No Reason is still my favorite.
The one guy that disliked it.< Everyone else
Why do I have to be white?! Damn my whiteness! Why can't i be black or brown, or yellow and suffer? Why should i be so blessed?! WHY?! WHY?!
what a wonderful message to receive, I will think of you AprilShowers the next time I play brett's music......... a song is so powerful, so majestic, no wonder the angels sang at the birth of Jesus - for though they knew him intimately they had no idea he was about to become a human (and a helpless baby at that).. surely that were singing out in praise of God "there is so much more" and more to come..... for no eye has seen and no heart imagined the perfection in the soon coming Glory of God :)
it's like the 25th time i'm playing this song today. and it's everyday like that damn it
great song, but from the angle of the picture in the video he looks kind of like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys
@cosmiccoolgirl Don't know, sorry, I try to ignore adverts.
Is this song in an advert?
@alexleitch37 I feel you man. This song is sooo deep, Brett himself says that it's the best song he ever did. I don't know how to play it yet, but just by hearing I can feel a gentle kind of inner peace, a confidence in life, and a relief to know that I'm not alone in my sorrows and doubts about everything. Very few artists can put their soul in their art like Brett does, if this is not talent, I sincerely don't know what talent is.
GINGERS DO HAVE SOULS! (haha sorry, had to)
awesome lyrics, awesome song
brett dennen's songs are very much like christian songs short of referring to God or Jesus...
getting tickets for when he plays at the pageant in st louis. can't wait.
i need tickets for the ramshead live show.
first heard this song off greys anatomy love it
greys anatomy season three episode 7 sad as hell when this song played. i love it though
I have 80 gigs of itunes music to pick from. I play this song over and over and over and over. There is something in it that just sets me free. If I wrote 1,000,000 songs I would never ever come close to the perfection of this song. After hearing it (and I mean really hearing it) I no longer "wonder where I'll go when I die" Brett has taken me there already and moth and rust can not steal me from that place, I am with my treasures in Heaven. God bless Brother Brett with humility and grace. Al
Cool, really?
Cool! I have enjoyed hearing the stuff about the Radiophonic workshop today on Radio 4.
Love what you're doing.....
i"m ex BBC Sound Man....
recorded everything from mandolins to Symphony Orchestras ....
He is not that well-known here! I saw a review of this CD in a Hifi magazine and thought I'd try it out. I am going to see him on Monday, but it is not at a well-known venue.
