Heard this joint years ago and I'm still confused by it lol "Ain't no reason" implies a severe lack of analysis as to why we live the way we do but then there are mad lines speaking to the ills of the world while never mentioning that the main culprits are capitalism, it's endless pursuit of expansion and profit at any and all costs and it's inherent, state-backed private property rights that are upheld with force to allow the many to suffer so a few at the top can lead lives of luxury while exploiting and pillaging the "3rd World" to keep the rest of us in "western capitalist liberal democracies" living in relative privilege and comfort. It's very confusing because there are many reasons why we live this way. Not "no reason". It's also not the "way it's always been". So all I can imagine is it's from the perspective of a historically and politically illiterate person who is finally starting to see the brutality and injustice that our way of life relies on and the horrific conditions we force on mal-developed nations to sustain it while still lacking any real analysis. Idk. 😂

I think I was ten or eleven when I heard this song for the first time, at High Sierra Music Festival in Northern CA. I have always loved this red-headed hippie man who showed me it was okay to be myself and love things and people who weren't considered cool in the mainstream media. The holidays are rough and there are many nights I just sit and listen to sad music to try and make sense of it all.

Last Face brought me here. I'm so glad it did. Thank you Brett.
