Honestly..wth is katrina doing? U call that dance? Sure she put a lot of effort.. & it's evident. But that's d problem. It's way too evident. & that's not d sign of a good dancer..esp when it comes to Indian dance forms. In any dance form for that matter d sign of a good dancer is his/her dance should look effortless. They shd look comfortable. I don't see any of that in Kat over here. She's just moving her body & limbs like a stick. But she's good at moving. She shakes well. But dance isn't just mere moving & shaking of limbs (or being able to do difficult steps) There r so many more elements to it..like grace for eg, fluidity in movements (esp in Indian dances, including bwood), smooth transition of steps, & EXPRESSIONS! without all these u cannot call someone a good dancer. Most ppl don't understand all these n tag someone who shakes well as a great dancer, cos nowadays ppl hardly follow Indian dances, it's all about western. Break dance, Hip Hop etc etc..where u don't need grace etc. But I don't blame them either. Cos they're a diff dance form altogether. But bwood dance form is diff. It has roots from our tradition Indian dances. If u think m wrong... Almost all actresses today can dance well. But still ppl like madhuri, Rekha, aishwarya, raveena etc r a class apart. Cos they r trained in classical Indian dances! That's why they dance so gracefully n effortlessly. Even aishwarya wasn't effortless for a long time. If u see dola re dance from devdas, a lot of ppl praised aish over madhuri cos ppl thought she was doing more of difficult steps. It def looked well rehearsed no doubt. I def saw a lot of effort. But that's d thing. In many places it felt she was trying a tad too much. I was feeling tensed whether she'll miss something. But when madhuri came, there was a diff aura. She had easier steps, but she did it more gracefully n effortlessly. U r relaxed..& u enjoy more..lol. that's d sign of a great dancer. (But aish later did improve on it too.) u may think this is a too elaborate explanation..lol Sorry for d length. I have done no PhD in dance. But i just had to dispel some ppl's misunderstanding here.
p.s. sorry if I strike some nerves among Kat's fans, but to me Fatima, who probably isn't as good a dancer as Kat, danced better than her over here. From what I could make out of her very little dancing, she was definitely more effortless n fluid, made her seem more comfortable than Kat.
