Bobby Bare - Sweeter Than The Flowers Lyrics

Just as far as I can remember
She'll remain the rose of my heart
Mama took sick along in December
February brought us broken hearts.

The reason we've not called the family reunion
Is we knew that you wouldn't be there
But now that we thought it all over mama
We know that the spirit is here.

No, no, I can't forget the hours
You're the only one mama and sweeter than the flowers
No, no, there's no need to bother
To speak of you now would only hurt farther
Oh no mama, I'll never forget you
And someday I'll meet you up there.

No, no, I can't forget the hours
You're the only one mama and sweeter than the flowers
No, no, there's no need to bother
To speak of you now would only hurt farther
Oh no mama, I'll never forget you
And someday I'll meet you up there...

A song so gorgeous that it
    would be difficult
    for anyone with a
    halfway decent
    voice to screw it
    up! Sure like this
version! Other great versions exist by Vernon Oxford, George Morgan, George Jones & Gene Pitney, and Moon
    Mullican.(Can you
    inform me of the
    songwriter (s).
    Usually they are
    listed in your descriptions. I
checked with some other channel's videos,
and several of those lyrics sites,
    which stupidly
    give the lyrics but
    ignore the lyricist!
    (And composer!)So I made every
    attempt to learn
    of the writers before bothering
you, out of respect for your time. Just
    listened to Moon
    Mullican's fine version, but no
    info on the writer,
    although I think
HE actually may have written it!
    Gracias!
