Bobby Bare - Margie's At The Lincoln Park Inn Lyrics
My name's in the paper where I took the boy scouts to hike
My hands're all dirty from working on my little boy's bike
The preacher came by and I talked for a minute with him
My wife's in the kitchen and Margie's at the Lincoln Park Inn.
But I made her a promise that I wouldn't cheat anymore
I tried to ignore it but I know she's in there my friend
My mind's on a number and Margie's at the Lincoln Park Inn.
Next Sunday it's my turn to speak to the young people's class
They expect answers to all of the questions they ask
What would they say if I spoke of the modern day sins
And all of the Margies at all of the Lincoln Park Inns.
The bike is all fixed and my little boy's in bed asleep
My wife's baking cookies to feed to the Bridge Club again
I'm almost out of cigarettes and Margie's at the Lincoln Park Inn.
And I know why she's there...

one of the weirdest cheating song ever and ad for me in that situation ,damn I couldn't brush my hair in peace.
Sad song I hate it but love it the same time. I can't imagine how many kids grew up with dad like this. Terrible song but I can't stop listening to it.

I like the strings in this version.
I love this song but hate it the same. I hate people who cheat. Good lord what's up with a love ? I took a sacred oath in marriage and in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE.
Always been a fan
sometimes its just easier too have a Margie......
Wish I could've been an adult in the 1950's-1970's.
That generation of Man had it so easy compared to Men my age nowadays.
Us women had our fun then as well dont think only the men had it easy, they invented the PILL
You think?
I bet Marge was a fat floozy 5 years past her prime.
Ethereal Catholic , get a life
Love this
I believe The Lincoln Park Inn, was turned into the Royal Ascot. My uncle owned a county bar that he would bring in the best and up coming artist he could find. It was called the Town and Country on Ecorse, great place, I have pictures of my mom with Ernest Tubb and many more. Then he sold it and they renamed it The All Around. I remember my cousin whom has forever danced on the Grande Ole Opry with Tennessee Travelers knowing about the Town and Country bar and the Lincoln Park Inn, that's where all them boys would go after the bar closed. True words written on that song. I was born in Lincoln Park city, my family is from and still in Nashville, TN
they tore the lincoln park inn years ago , its now a walgreens ! dont fret , half mile down the road is the Allen Park Motor Lodge 313 386 6900 ( ask for hot head Jill ) best crack whores in Michigan !
if tom t hall wrote it im sure its based on a true story
takes me back to the '60's when we lived in Hazel Park, Mich. and I grew up there, hearing this on the radio. Mom and dad loved country music, and I do too!! Thanks for posting!
Blame it all on Margie.
I usually did
1001orpheus just don't call me marge
After all of these years nothing has changed. The Margie's💋 still get all the blame. LOL except for my first husband, he & his Margie both got an ass whooping + I learned a good lesson. Get that divorce💍 cuz a cheater will always cheat💔 and there will always be another Margie just a phone call away ☎
What a hoe chaser.
Sometime around 1973 my wife sang with Don Barnett and The New jays at the Lake & Park Inn 111th and Roberts Rd. Palos Hills IL. The place was huge. Lot of fun for the 3 or 4 month she sang and I played drums 3 nights a week.
Remember it well !
We was so young, it took us about 2 week to realize what the VIP section was.
That's funny, I just noticed the upload date. My name is Marj and March 25th is my Birthday. Never been to the Lincoln Park Inn but been to other Inn's for this reason. lol
alexwolfe41 oh cool! My name is Margie and my birthday is March 25th too!
I GUESS MOST OF US HAVE LOL
such a great song and singer
I Have always Been a fan Of Bobby
What is a sawmill corndog?
My Daddy who is up in his 80's was the son and grandson of sawmillers. I've often heard him say "Once you get sawdust down your back, you'll never get it all out".
I heard it said the ice truck put saw dust to pack the ice
My favourite song by my favourite artist. Thank you.
@knoxcountykyman1 Yeah, it's where you get sawmill beer. Love those sawmill chips and sawmill dip, too. Ever had a sawmill corndog?
@XSmileydog My plan is to write one and play it backwards. Then I'll get my wife back, I'll stop cheating on her, I'll go back to work, my dog will rise from the dead and my pickup truck will start running again.
@moproducer Nicely expressed. Kinda feels good, doesn't it? You could write songs.
lol--garywayne and it's so true mawzaro.
@MrDanBlather No, I married your mother shortly after you married your brother. They both had nice things to say about you. But remember; I'm your step-father, and your brother is my step-daughter-in-law. See you at the IHOP.
@moproducer , were you married to your sister before or after she married your uncle?
@highwayman012 If you watch real close, you'll see me write....this.
@highwayman012 No. I wrote this. And I wrote...this. And......this.
@highwayman012 ..and I wrote this...
@MrDanBlather My sister is married to the uncle of the brother of Tom T. Hall's nephew's daughter's cab driver's assistant general manager at the IHOP.
@garywayne1966 Not only that, but the Lincoln Park Inn has roaches. How big? I saw Margie riding out on one of them. Don't tell Bobby that she got loose....
@moproducer Now that's funny!
@garywayne1966 Have you seen Margie the Goon? Looks like Johnny Cash in a dress, only uglier. Bobby knows why she's there -- they won't let her out on the street! This song is an anthem for the Lock Up Margie and Throw Away the Key Society (LUMTAKS).
I love this song. My cousin is married to Tom T. Hall's brother.
Good for you
Total cornball, but I love it!
Haven't heard this in years and it's sung as only Bobby Bare could sing it, like it was his lifes storyline!!! Thank you Ten Stars!!!!
Great song and great lyrics!
Ditch the preacher as soon as you can! Margie's hot, horny, and waitng for you.
Almost outta smokes!!!!
watch?v=JPFjYLUDBT0
statler brothers' version
the Statler Brothers' version is too much better than Bobby Bare's version.
you can find the Statler Brothers' version on Thank you world album
edsonfranclin , no flipping way
Singers like Bobby Bare and songs like this is what made country music so good. Too bad Nashville had to kill country music.
Thanks for posting this song Bulldog, I"ve waited for someone to post this song, I listened to a version by Tom T. Hall but this is better.
Sadly , the story of my life . . .why ,oh why do we do it ?
