Bob Dylan - Days Of 49 Lyrics

I'm old Tom Moore from the bummer's shore in that good old golden days
They call me a bummer and a ginsot too, but what cares I for praise ?
I wander around from town to town just like a roving sign
And all the people say, "There goes Tom Moore, in the days of '49"
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

My comrades they all loved me well, a jolly saucy crew
A few hard cases I will recall though they all were brave and true
Whatever the pitch they never would flinch, they never would fret or whine
Like good old bricks they stood the kicks in the days of '49
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

There was New York Jake, the butcher boy, he was always getting tight
And every time that he'd get full he was spoiling for a fight
But Jake rampaged against a knife in the hands of old Bob Stein
And over Jake they held a wake in the days of '49
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

There was Poker Bill, one of the boys who was always in a game
Whether he lost or whether he won, to him it was always the same
He would ante up and draw his cards and he would you go a hatful blind
In the game with death Bill lost his breath, in the days of '49
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

There was Ragshag Bill from Buffalo, I never will forget
He would roar all day and he'd roar all night and I guess he's roaring yet
One day he fell in a prospect hole, in a roaring bad design
And in that hole he roared out his soul, in the days of '49
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

Of the comrades all that I've had, there's none that's left to boast
And I'm left alone in my misery like some poor wandering ghost
And I pass by from town to town, they call me a rambling sign
"There goes Tom Moore, a bummer shore in the days of '49 "
In the days of old, in the days of gold
How oft'times I repine for the days of old
When we dug up the gold, in the days of '49.

You are a serious fucking idiot. This is exactly why Dylan sues the shit out of everyone who does this. Look at what you do and why you're doing it. Get behind that wheel.

  13. J.... R....

    EAT WANG

  14. R.... ....

It was great the way it was on Bob's Self-Portrait!

  15. R.... J....

This is terrible... I understand there was work put into this but it was a waste of time, the song should remain the same, there was nothing "Sloppy" about it; that was just the way Dylan liked to sing.

  16. J.... S....

love it.. now i can walk true walls...

  17. K.... J....

Dylan was all about creating different music, this is a brilliant song ! great cover of a great song

  18. b.... ....

  20. b.... ....

You're right there is greatness in the song... it's BOB DYLAN. I personally prefer the original but if this brings more people to him then whatever this is is worth it.

  25. C.... N....

again, not too bad! and again, i cant stand dubstep :P :P

  26. K.... ....

Thank you sir! I feel I'm a bigger fan than any of these critical mudflaps. I was actually moved to create some music while these scamps are just sitting on their fatasses and typing their worthless thoughts onto a computer keyboard. Lemme tellya, takes a lot more time & effort to create... If they gave it a try, I suppose they'd be more understanding.

  27. K.... ....

If you consider this one of his treasures then ur standards aren't that high. He's got a hundred better songs (& better recorded too), none of them untouchable. If u don't like, then just close ur window and listen to the sound of ur own farts.

  28. K.... ....

Thanks man! I know it's weird, it's an intentionally subpar record so people would stop thinking he was the Messiah. I love this song but he flubs a couple verses and the chorus a couple times and the whole band messes up at one point trying to follow him. They coulda done a couple more takes & perhaps this video would not exist... But to treat all of Dylan's work as holy sacred gospel? Isn't that wrong? Wouldn't that piss Bob off? I mean, even his mistakes are sacred???

  29. t.... ....

This is awesome! I love Dylan and Self Portrait but EVERY song on that record is sloppy. I wish the whole record could be remixed. I thinks it's strange people are defending one of Dylan's least loved works.

  30. E.... B....

    Bob just does it....and it's DONE....this is WYYYYLLLDDD!!!!~E

  31. S.... L....

    this is terrible.

  32. p.... t....

errr...what a mess? amazing, well amazingly bad that is...

  33. T.... M....

Your description is 'fightin words' my friend. I hope youre ready....

  34. b.... ....

I hope Dylan does a remix album! HA! Who knows maybe he'll have a few dubstep songs, too.

  35. J.... M....

@faroutlindsey I think that this remix is equal to drawing an ear on Van Gogh's self portrait. If this person had ANY talent, they'd be making music instead of bastardizing Dylan's! If Bobby D wanted it remixed, HE'D DAMNED WELL REMIX IT!

  36. F.... L....

@TobiasTux YOU THINK IT IS THAT GOOD??

  37. 7.... ....

@KayoSongs Eh, I'd stop by both your houses and tell ya to quit squabbling. Really, it's music. It's not supposed to be objective. You can hate alternative-punk, and I can hate modern country. But you still gotta serve somebody.

And I think we all know who the real villain is. WMG, for not letting the original, studio version on YouTube.

  38. E.... ....

Apart from questioning the kind of ego which rips off someone else's song without their permission while calling it crap- this is a shite bit of dubstep... :(

  39. G.... L....

@KayoSongs too bad she sung me "Bob Dylan - days of 49 (dubstep remix)".

  40. J.... ....

    just die... please

  41. G.... L....

@KayoSongs ill give you that. my mum is not a good singer. yours was. she sang to me after we had sex. too bad i punched her in the throat.

  42. a.... ....

Class Remix, if only there was a sicker drop!

  43. t.... z....

@KayoSongs you are right I have no Idea what i'm talking about. I hope dylan pukes in my face.

  44. K.... ....

@HuggieHollic Thanks Huggie, you're the sweetest!

  45. K.... ....

@laurashe13 Just the audience I'm lookin' for. Thank you!

  46. K.... ....

@ledzepeda211 I call this a dance tune! And since when are you qualified to be Dylan's rep? If I were Dylan I'd stop by your place to piss on the carpet, vomit in your eye, and then sing it's all over now baby blue, bitch.

  47. K.... ....

@coldchillinmasta No, the song your mother sang me was worse.

  48. G.... L....

Congratulations! if you are listening to this song you have found the official worse song in the universe. yas.

  49. S.... S....

@ledzepeda211 hey just out of curiosity what the fuck is your issue people are in titled to their own opinion just b/c you dont dig it that doesn't mean you need to shit all over it if every one on earth had the same taste in music there would be no diversity it would all be the same generic bullshit why get so mad about the fact that someone doesnt feel the same way about a song that you do also from what ive read about dylan he seems like a very open minded person hed prob find it interesting

  50. t.... z....

what a disgrace. If i was Dylan I would personally stop by your house and sock you in the face. "the original is so sloppy." what the fuck do you call this then?

  51. L.... B....

Very cool remix Kayosongs...being a die hard dylan fan back to his early days in Minneapolis. This rocks.

  52. C.... G....

WOW!!! this is soooo amazing!! :D awesome job!!
