Blues Brothers, The - Minnie The Moocher Lyrics
Hey folks here's the story 'bout Minnie the Moocher
She was a lowdown hoocie coocher
She was the roughest toughest frail
But Minnie had a heart as big as a whale
Hodehodehodeho (Hodehodehodeho)
Hedehedehedehe (Hedehedehedehe)
Hidehidehideho (Hidehidehideho)
She messed around with a bloke named Smokie
She loved him though he was cokey
He took her down to Chinatown
and showed her how to kick the gong around
Hidehidehidehi (Hidehidehidehi)
Hedehedehedehe (Hedehedehedehe)
A hidehidehideho (Hidehidehideho)
She had a dream about the king of Sweden
He gave her things that she was needin'
He gave her a home built of gold and steel
A diamond car with platinum wheels
A hidehidehidehidehidehidehi (Hidehidehidehidehidehidehi)
Hodehodehodehodehodehodeho (Hodehodehodehodehodehodeho)
Scoodiliboo-scoodiliboo-scoodili-bidili-bidiliboo
(Scoodiliboo-scoodiliboo-scoodli-bidili-bidiliboo)
A zootibitididdly bitididdly bitididdly bitidooey
(Bitididdly bitididdly bitididdly dooey)
He gave her his townhouse and his racing horses
Each meal she ate was a dozen courses
Had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes
She sat around and counted them all a million times
Hidehidehidehi (Hidehidehidehi)
Hodehodehodeho (Hodehodehodeho)
Hedehedehedehe (Hedehedehedehe)
Hidehidehideho (Hidehidehideho)
Poor Min, poor Min, poor Minnie

Blues Brothers, The Minnie The Moocher Comments
I remember shaking my tail feather to many of these songs when I was a kid,it was a fun movie back then,30 odd years later it’s still just as good😉
0:50 The lessons
2:30 The homework
2:43 The test
Enthusiasm for the happy extras who were able to watch this stage. Everyone is real. That's amazing
This is what I call music. Not that stupid ass trap/rap. Irritating as hell garbage that I hear comin from the piece of rolling shit on 24 inch rims driving around the parking lot at the store.
Despite their disagreement, Cab performed 'Minnie the Moocher' just as Jon Landis wished. Generations that have grown up with this film now recognize his genius and talent. Cab now lives forever ❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite childhood films, and this production was one of the main reasons. Cab Calloway was phenomenal!!! Though he's no longer here, we, and future generations, will have this to show how awesome he was.
1:49 me and the boys trying to skip class
This scene is so iconic that the bit at 1:50 is sometimes referenced separately for people sneaking around.
Why do i love this song.
I like the silvered pipe just to fit the theme.
One late night circa 1979 in the Midwest (eastern North Dakota) a local station showed an old film (possibly of the "negro" persuasion -- reference to earlier times and attitudes). Late that night, I saw Cab Calloway for the first time and he was in a white tuxedo singing "Minnie The Moocher".
A couple years later, give or take, I saw this scene in the Blues Brothers movie. I recognized it immediately, though it took me a bit to piece everything together.
Awesome and never gets old !
This song will forever be a favorite. It never gets old😌
It's so great seeing Cab doing his biggest hit to a whole new generation
Can you send this?
My dad Meet Dan Aykroyd
Love this movie... also brings back memories of my dad and I dancing to it in Tenerife last month hadva great time xxx
You can tell the band loved playing for Cab Calloway. A great song and great scene.
I was watching a doc on Groucho and he used this song in a joke.
I didn't know the song was that old, Dan Akroid really knows the old stuff.
Mr. Troy Lighton, Everything dome in this song was done to be a tribute to the greatest performer of all time. From the names of Harlem clubs in the background to the spotlights out front. I believe it was the Savoy, I could very well be wrong, used to have searchlight type spotlights in front of the club when Cab Calloway was the headliner that evening. The tuxes was what Mr. Calloway was as a performer in Harlem and movies. Always so classy. The black suit and hat is what Mr. Calloway became. Maybe not dressed to the nines, but always after 5:00 dress wear. A little more comfortable, but still a classic look. I believe that shot was from a concert in the late 40s or early 50s. The shot in casual attire is what Mr. Calloway had become. A retired singer returned to the stage and show the world what it takes to be the greatest and classiest performer in the world. Oh and Mr. Joel Stucki, not only is the trumpet 🎺 solo in the intro badass, but so were the licks he plays between the verses. Here’s a freebie: look at Mr. Calloway’s face when he thanks the musicians, that’s gratitude and humility written on his face. The musicians faces show a thanks as well, but for being allowed the honor to back up the greatest performer in the world. I actually cried the first time I watched the movie in the theater all those years ago. Steve Cropper has a look of confusion as if to say Why is he thanking us?
bellissimo
You got to check out this ancient cartoon featuring this song and Cab Calloway!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tK6Ty-uLIwM
Family guy
Great song from a great film ,the blues brothers ❤
This song is why I love The Blues Brothers! Mr. Cab Calloway was Kingfish Entertainment man! Gq and Cat Daddy smooth to the bone. Love it. God bless!
The kinderlümper is gonna get ya 😂
**The best movie ever😎😎**
Oni byli niemozliwi!!!!!!!
Cab Calloway was a cool dude.
One of my favorite bits about this scene is that despite the fact they have no set, when Calloway starts singing it turns fancy.
This shows that even though they don't have an amazing set, Cabs pure skill and talent made everyone forget about that.
What does it mean to "kick the Gong around" humm?
The best part of the Blues Brothers. Cab Calloway stole this movie the same way he stole Stormy Weather.
Best part of the movie.....................the whole dang movie really is a classic....................."Were on a mission from GOD"..................1060 West Addison Street...............
Dont sing this with a bad breath ('-')
No sweetness like movie anymore.
He looks so much better in the white suit...
family guy
Still the Greatest.
the man who was so cool that makes a freezer feel hot
So much legendary people of music in this flick still one of my favorite movies .
I was stationed at Osan AB Korea with a MSgt Smith who played this movie everyday for a year in his office. It never got old. I miss Smitty. He taught me more about the Air Force in one year than I learned in the other 19.
Anyone who likes this movie has real taste for music. This movie is a treasure.
A true cult classic! Awesome tunes; altruism; lots of lovin'; & a healthy dash of good 'ol time religion! Throw in some intrigue, competitive pizazz & the result in 1 helluva good time! U.S.A. = What a country! * Cav *
All I can say is .... The white suit..... Pshhh Cab is Killing it!!!
THE BEST EVER!!!!! BRAVO CAB! Emmanuel from Paris France
Cab Calloway is indeed a legendary icon!!!
In 30s slang " going to Chinatown to kicked the gong around= go to Chinatown and smoke some opium.
I’m so glad that Cab Calloway got to have this one giant sendoff in his later years it was well deserved and well earned
How right your are ! Loved your comment ! THANKS for sharing !
Cab is immortal !
True dat.
This is how to do a movie. The absolute best.
0:49 family guy
Can't get enough of this song
You obviously have xlnt taste in music !! :-)
Can not be betterd ever......
"Kick the gong around"= smoke opium.
This kind of music will far surpass the music now!
I will never get tired of this scene.
You speak the truth, Kemo Sabe !! :-)
Great movie, music
When you realize that Calloway first recorded this song in 1931 :O
im here from the uh, family guy reference.
There will never be another Cab Calloway.

Love 2:48 to 4:00
They say that Freddy Mercury was the only man to hold the crowd in the palm of his hands..
But they forgot Cab Calloway
Illinois nazis... i hate Illinois nazis!
I am 52 years old and I have heard a lot of Music in my life. Musicians are either here for just Today or They are here to Stay! If anyone disagrees with me then tell me a Beyonce or a Lil Uzi Vert song that will sustain the test of time. The year is 1930 people, 89 Freakin years and You are hearing a Master do WORK! I just want You Guys to Appreciate REAL, Not Autotune or Mumble Rap. Not All but the last 30 years or so have only seen a few TRUE ARTISTS!!!!!
This movie and song are epic
I totally agree !! :-)
WTF was that verse?
"She was a low down hoochie coocher"....
Cab Calloway could be wearing a tank top and hot pants and still be the classiest man in the building.
The Blue print...❤️❤️🥰🥰
Fuckin timeless. The whole movie.
This is such a fun scene. Cab is having a great time and it really shows.
What true good kick ass music is
Unlike today
Rest In Peace Cab Calloway legend 🙏🏽❤️
When the white suit popped out I thought YES THIS AMAZING FILM HAS GOT ABOUT A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER!
You got that right !! It's my favorite scene from this classic comedy !! :-)
Crasy jazzy man ever no way! BRAVO and MERCI BEAUCOUP from Paris France! Thanks! Emmanuel
Just after the song, Trooper Mount says "They're not going no place!" when he actually means "They're not going any place!" Me personally, I hate it when people use double negatives like "I ain't doing nothing" or "I don't have nothing." However, by the way Trooper Mount said it, it turns out he was actually right, the Blues Brothers got away, so it's true that they're not going no place, they are going some place!
Let's act real cool
Peter Griffin couldn't have said it better !! :-)
The magic of Cab Calloway.
He is able to give nine men tuxedos, new instruments and create a set in half a second flat and nobody seems to bat an eye.
Then once the song is over, everything goes back to normal and nobody notices.
We need more of his kind of magic !! :-)
This legend did this whole bit while he was about 73.
Unmatched
Okay Mark, Lincoln Nebraska I got on Cab Callaway and his Minnie the Moochie! Great to watch the audience go with Cab, wish I was there!
