I hear both "wishes to die" and "wishes to play" as if they're intervalled: first time "die" and the next "play", is this a possibility?

I always thought it was “you’re gonna kill this monkeybird”. I didn’t understand.

The first verse sounds like "Mommy black and blue." After the chorus she clearly says, "Love me black and blue."

How do people get lyrics so wrong? Is this even possible? This is on purpose, right?

I totally agree with those who say Blonde Redhead are underrated. Possible causes:
1. Poor advertising: they're website is essential, to say the least, and some of their concerts are in small spaces and go unnoticed.
2. Production quality below what BR deserve. BR are better live than on record because they're good musicians, but also because their labels didn't always gave the support they need, specially on Barragán: as far as I know the record's publisher is not even a real label and BR had to partially self-produce it.
3. They are too sophisticated for mass audiences: they only released a couple of hits in twenty years, most of their songs are multi-layered "growers" requiring more than one listen to be fully appreciated. Most people do not have time nor patience for that.
4. They maybe just don't care too much: I read many interviews of Kazu Makino saying that she never really cared having a career in music, but only wanted to do the things she likes. Admirable attitude, but not enough rewarded these days.

I like their intentional approach to being quite NON commercial, something they wouldn’t wish for, Underground all the way. Stay perfectly as you are..⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌☠️🎸

Production is ace, what y'on about? Also yeh, they never seemed to want a mainstream career. The trappings of that exceed the freedom of the ol' DIY pursuit

I'd also like to volunteer an option 5. They refuse to play with the sickos that run the planet illegally. They refuse to let their music be used as a device other than what it was intended for. Pleasure and relaxation.
