Bloc Party. - Where Is Home? Lyrics
After the funeral, breaking kola nuts
We sit and reminisce about the past
And in her voice, only sadness
Her only son taken from her
The second generation blues
Our points of view not listened to
Different worlds and different rules
A question of allegiance
Clinging to her bible and her scapula
And the memory of the way things were
I don't see hope, I cannot smile
I burn with anger all the time
We all read what they did to the black boy
In every headline we are reminded that this is not home for us
Where is it?
Where is home?
I'll walk this modern tightrope
Of humility and belligerence
...
Is getting me down
I want to stamp on the face of every young policeman
To break the fingers of every old judge
To cut off the feet of every ballerina
But I can't
So I just sigh and I just sigh
And I pretend that there's nothing wrong
The teeth of this world tear me in half
And everyday I must ask myself
Where, where, where:
Where is it?
Where is home?
In every headline we are reminded that this is not home for us

Bloc Party. Where Is Home? Comments
A Weekend in the City is a great album but there's not one song on there that isn't about something depressing
This genre is completely different than Burial so comparing the two is pointless
This song is so weird. It's interesting to listen to but it's chaos trying to convey solitude and loneliness. To me it doesn't work very well. I don't feel bad listening to this song. I feel like it's something that plays at an edgy party.
Burial's remix does seem to convey loneliness much better. The long drawn tones covered in phaser and reverb leaves you with a sense emptiness. Burial's version is just beautiful but if you like Bloc Party you might find it boring.
Such a shame that such a great remix of such a great song has created such a divide.
matt tong......those drums..are godlike
This song is created in memory of Kelly's friend Christopher Alaneme, whom died in a racist attack.
@Gøvinda. Look up the dude's name. Supposedly, some drunk dudes attacked him and other people in some stabbing spree. The song also talks about how despite living in a country, people will still discriminate you and mistreat you. Hence the title saying "where is home."
@caretatura1 That's horrible.. Thanks for the information !
my appreciation of this song has just sky rocketed after finding this out i sat down and really listened to the lyrics
Doesn't make a song less shitty!
This is amazing and fits what's going on in the world so perfectly
Hey, now. No need to throw harsh words at a song just because it doesn't match your taste in music. Please have a bit of respect.
only burial can make a shitty song sound incredible
your lack of taste is shameful
you are fucking right! definitely!
yes, I find soul & emotion in the original song.... imho burial ruined this peace
Naah, he fixed it
Kidding me? The amount of soul & emotion that goes into his music is phenomenal.
An acquired taste perhaps, but each to their own.
lol burial sucks, i can't find the sense in that shit you call music
Not in comparison to Burial.
Nothing compares to Burial, his music is really weird but in an amazing way.
burial sound like the one of the few that can upstage an original track
always loved bloc party but burial definitely made this song
Bloc Party officially signs over the rights of this song to Burial.
I've been looking for this song since I heard it on Being Human! Now that I've looked at the lyrics for it too, I realize that the cut they chose for the show is actually meaningful to it and not just an awesome song! Thanks for uploading it! xD
Great song. The riff during the chorus is just awesome.
Diplo also, his remix is sensational.
Presumably either Bloc Party asked him to remix it, or he offered to, and so they gave him the stems.
i quite like this and the Burial remix to be honest
How did Burial got at accapela anyway ?
I love this song but I think everyone has to admit the Burial remix is just miles ahead.
BURIAL MADE THIS A SONG!!!!!
I love this band. Recently started watching Being Human and when I heard this play in the background I freaked and loved the show even more!
The burial mix isn't bad, but it's a whole other type of tune, it's not got a shred of 'where is home' in it. blocparty4eva.
What's this Burial mix thing? I'll tell you what it is, It is filling a song with true feeling, with a sound that really touches you, acceses your emotions, unlike the original one which is pure overlapping sounds and lyrics.
Burial... thank you for making music awesome! you're the best <3
@PlatChat You don' simply talk shit bout Burial... man...
Any true Bloc Party fan would know this was made for Kele's friend.
R.I.P Christopher Alaneme
Fuck racism.
ah just some emo shit. burial remix win
I perfer the Burial Remix tbh still both good songs
the burial remix is a crowdpleasing, 13 in a dozen song,
this is a rare gem
but hey, to each his own
@thefallendevil and thats exactly why the remix is better..
@13fridayMAY In my opinion the remix sucks. A remix should still capture the actual song itself but alter it in a unique way, the remix sounds nothing like the song, you wouldn't even know its a remix of this song...
in every headline we are reminded that this is not home for us
@deivboddah you probably dont have the money to afford some good subwoofers...
FUCK THIS!!
BURIAL REMIX IS MUCH BETTER !!!!
Fuck the burial version, this is what I want!
much better than the burial remix imo
don't get me wrong, i like that one too, a lot.
but it can't compare to the perfectness of bloc party
Burial remix is so much better! wtf they sound like 2 completely unrelated tunes...
