Every time i remember the time I discovered Blind Guardian at 1995 with "Imaginations From The Other Side" and hear this, I cannot avoid cry for sorrow. I respect people who likes it, but it's not for me.

Its funny how Blind Guardian makes me feel old. Been 20 years since I first heard of their existence and been a fan of them since then. They were my very first show I went to. Was sold out but my sis (amazing woman) found a ticket for me and I didn't care to go there alone. Funny thing tho, ended up meeting quite a few friends at the show and anyway, you are never truly alone in a metal show. Long live BG!!! GUARDIAN GUARDIAN GUARDIAN!!!!!

The last song just sounded like pretty much any other Blind Guardian track post Nightfall, sans the actual Blind Guardian. This one fits the orchestral vibe much better. I still feel like this was mixed like a metal album, but the arrangement is much better for this song.

It's been 4 years since last album. The gap between that one and prior was 5 years. So wait one more year and then bitch.

According to Andre's interview, the next Blind Guardian album will be released in 2021, he composed a lot of songs, and wants to start the recordings in January with Hansi. In this way, it won't have a standard Blind Guardian album until 2021, nevertheless, Demons & Wizards will be releasing their new album in February of 2020.

NEWS: Andre said in german magazine 'Hardline' , right now they are planning a live presentation of the album on one or two evenings.
But to early to talk about ( are planning it right now). He has to disappoint everyone who was hoping for a tour.
There will be no tour, because its logistically almost impossible.
New Blind Guardian album is very far songwriting wise. During Hansi is/was busy with Demons & Wizards Andre writes/wrote some more songs.
They want to produce it in 2020 and because they always need approximately one full year for production, 2021 is going to be the year of Blind Guardian.
In the magazine "Break Out" Andre said that live presentation of the orchestra album also depends on the success of the album.
FUNNY: In the magazine "Deaf Forever" they made a little interview with Hansi and he was asked whether the next
regular Blind Guardian album will be heavy metal which is more straight (since they now have finished the orchestra album).
Hansi: "I would have pleasure to do it, but Andres ideas are now already so overly intellectual that i think he isn't able to do this at all anymore." :) :) :) :) :) :)

As it is a Prague Symphonic orchestra and the album was recorded in Rudolfinum concert hall I hope that will be the location of the live concert as well for that special evening in my home country :-) Also that was a question to Hansi in czech rock magazine Spark, he answered that it is the most logical location, but of course he did not promise anything.

I've been listening to this for a while now in these 3 days and I really really really like it a lot. Love the music but also Hansi interpretation 😃.
Being a die hard fan from the 90s I knew this was not going to be heavy metal but still I can hear all the power and epicness typical of Blind Guardian just put in a different way.

Literally looking forward to hearing the rest cos I have the feeling that this is just like a "piece" of the work (I guess that was intentional) so I guess that the album needs to be taken as a whole.

Plus I think that on CD/vinyl this will sound so so much better.

That's basically a good chunk of their songs. I've described it to people for ages as The Best metal singing you've ever heard, mixed with an opera structure, and Queen esque harmonies.

Wheel of Time is pretty close since it manages to describe a good chunk of the Karaethon Cycle. Been reading Stormlight Archives and Mistborn, so would be cool to see them attempt any of the Cosmere books.

@Andre Felder that's a bit of a guess rather than fact though. I mean, I hope that you're right for the bands sake. I like the band, alot. I just need time to adjust to their new ways I guess. That's if I can.

I'm not sure about this. I love the classic tone of it, and Hansi's voice is a perfect fit for the style. But something feels...a bit odd.. The song doesn't have a good flow to it, it's very choppy with each line of lyrics. I'm almost a bit embaressed to say it but sometimes it sounds a bit... amateurish. The rythms doesn't fit togehter at all sometimes and that's why the song doesn't reach the epicness that it try to reach.It's like they wrote the lyrics, try to figure out how each line could be sung so it sounded good, but didn't think about the overall red-line that goes through the song. It was a little same with Point of no Return, but that song was composed a bit better. I still have hope for the album though, I like the overall sound but the songs needs a better flow to work for me.

I agree, this weird change was also noticeable on Grand Parade from their last record. There are some really unsuitable lines to be found on there as well.

I tried to find these "odd changes" but I didn't... I would have liked more parts without vocals but this song works for me anyway

The singing just sounds so odd and off. Sounds like Hansi’s not singing a song but rather singing a script - just doesn’t flow naturally like a normal song 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same as "Point of no return" : vocals are outstanding, but the music sounds wrong. They seem to have mixed many sounds, instruments, just for the sake of it, but they don't all go together well. It sounds like there's no musical direction, and globally it doesn't sound epic nor well-written, it falls flat imho.

If they kept the same mixing/mastering engineer, no wonder it sounds "flat" (aka overcompressed). The music itself is pretty interesting, and Hansi is out of this world, but the recording could totally use more dynamics.

BLIND GUARDIAN is probably among top 5 metal bands ever, but don't you think it is a bit snobby to throw SABATON into the discussion like they were some kind of third-rate band that never knew how to play? Actually, with their deep subject matter, they are also influential in their own right (although not all their songs are deep and gripping, some derivative, some - just meh). But c'mon - if you were going to bash a band why not pick someone truly shallow, there are such bands by dozens? Is it because SABATON are experiencing "kind of" a breakthrough in the market that they are drawing such ire?

On the other hand, maybe you people just feel like it's right standing up for "your" band by putting down others, so my argument will not change that... :)

It was clear in before it will be like that. Melodys are great and Remind a lot on times of Imaginations and Nightfall. Just Orchestral (Theater of Pain???)

I think I "get" both opinions concerning "missing Metal" (or not). Being a lifelong fan of BLIND GUARDIAN (and a fan of Classical music as well), this is the most anticipated release in a long time for me. However, in certain parts of already revealed tracks I get the feeling like Hansi's manly vocals "beg" for a more metallic edge... while the Classical backing track is so mesmerizingly well-composed that at times i would not mind just to have it without the voice entirely! Anybody know if they will be including the instrumental version of the album for certain packages? ;) That their texts tend to be on the "wordy" side is also notable in this case - but does not work as well as in the usual up-tempo delivery. Overall, the vocals sound best when enveloped in those big choirs, I would have liked more of them (maybe the other songs?).
The big take-away though, is that despite anything, by the end I am sitting there covered in goosebumps!

@Big G Yes its like you said. It takes time to get into the Songs complete and i Think it will be on some Tracks taking its time also when not always a Mighty Chorus blows up and charming the Ears. But i Think they have tried to include most Diversity into the Music in the Knowing of doing a Album like that only 1 time in their Career. I also am a Fan since Battalions Times and Hope it will not Take that long Till a new Metal Album comes with the Hope it would go a bit back into the Era between Tales Till Nightfall.... especially After i heard the The Tides Of War Song.But i will not judge a Album like this one here before i have listened it as s Whole. I was actually massively excited for this project, but I am disappointed by the two songs released so far. Not because I dislike orchestral music, quite the opposite is true. But this sounds just like any other Blind Guardian song, minus the band.
With a change of instrumentation, you have to actually adapt the music to fit both the limitations and possibilities of the different instrumentation. However, if you just added the band to this song it would sound almost indistinguishable in style from some songs of their last two albums. The problem isn't that the guitars are missing, the problem is that it sounds like someone removed the guitars from an already existing Blind Guardian track.


Britney Spears, while trash, is at least fun. This is "better" in a certain sense, but it also is more boring. Coming from a band I think is ultimately one of the most exciting metal bands, yes, this track is a letdown to me. I'll agree Hansis performance is great though.

I'm glad for BG to be able to make this.
But this is not BG for me.
This is like solo Hansi with a bunch of strangers in the background.
I'm missing the "voices" of the other band members.
This album is already a massive let down.
When they said orchestral album I thought it's gonna be like wheel of time just as a full album.
I hope we don't have to wait another 4 years for an actual metal album from them.
