Blind Guardian - Doom Lyrics

How did I get here?
What will I find here?
I've come to meet
The evil one

I understand
There is no sense
The curse lives on
My children mourn

Truth is a beast
With a sad face
A demon
The cruelest of all

Forever
Forever

I'm wondering
Who is it for?
There's nothing more

There is no door
No more lies

You won't enter
You will see
They've locked the secret place out

And day won't come again

So there's no relief
When truth shall be revealed
By now you know the answer
So there's no relief
But revenge

Abandoned, forgotten, deceived
Wherever they may roam
So faithful, so loyal
Still no one will come
You're alone

Don't call it destiny

We will remember
Skies may fade
And stars may wane
We won't forget
And your light shines bright
Yes, so much brighter
Shine on
We will remember
Until the skies will fall
We won't forget
We will remember
We all shall follow doom

It's going down
Going down
And there's nothing you can do

Look into my eyes
And see
Your seed
It may grow
This is no vision

It's the curse I set upon your kin
You'll be deceived

Their cries shall come true
It shall be me
You blame
Now watch and see
I'll set doom
Upon you
Your offspring shall bloom
Wherever they may roam
I'll bind them
I'll split them
In solitude
Sorrow shall grow
Unknown

We will remember
Skies may fade
And stars may wane
We won't forget
And your light shines bright
Yes, so much brighter
Shine on
We will remember
Until the skies will fall
We won't forget
We will remember
We all shall follow doom

There is no choice
There's repentance
'Cause nothing will grow here at all
Redeem the oath
And pay the price
If you want

Here on these fields
Where truth shall be revealed
In doom you'll find the answers
Still there's no release
You shall feel

Let's face it
Since everything's shown
You've been through this alone
The deeper the wounds
So much greater the sorrows will grow
There is no sense in it

We will remember
Skies may fade
And stars may wane
We won't forget
And your light shines bright
Yes, so much brighter
Shine on
We will remember
Until the skies will fall
We won't forget
We will remember
We all shall follow doom

Day 18.5. Interlude: Beyond The Red Mirror

  2. H.... ....

What are your thoughts on the other version of this song (from the Nightfall reissue)? Three videos of it were recently posted to YouTube.

  3. T.... ....

Hansi recently confirmed on episode 10 of "powerful. a power metal podcast" that 'Doom' was one of two songs (along with 'The Tides of War'[?]) that they didn't manage to finish for Nightfall in Middle-Earth, and (!!!) that they will be on their new vinyl version of NiME (hopefully later this year!)! Doom - which in this version was of course altered to fit 'Beyond the Red Mirror' better - will have its original lyrics there.
    Can't wait!

    T.... ....

New vinyl of NiME? Are they doing this with the rest of their releases too? Forgive me, I'm not exactly tapped into Blind Guardian news as of late, but I would KILL to have both that and a few others on vinyl!

    T.... ....

They're currently taking preorders for a new run of their first four albums (https://media.nuclearblast.de/shoplanding/2018/BlindGuardian/reissues.html) and, as mentioned, Hansi spoke explicitly about NiME too (https://youtu.be/Ilct0PKvass?t=2842) "hopefully at the end of the year". So things are looking good, seems reasonable to speculate that soon after this first batch of four we can look forward to not only NiME but also Imaginations etc!

    T.... ....

    Torzelan Very exciting, thank you!

    T.... ....

they sould have made a double Cd in the past 1998 then it will have fit with The Tides of War i will have help the album in the past

  4. J.... ....

Probably the best song of the album overall with The Ninth Wave, but it was only included as a bonus track... Poor Marcus !
Whatever, I made it my morning alarm ringtone so I get to listen to it every day ;)

  5. M.... A....

Why is this song not on my Beyond The Red Mirror CD?

    M.... A....

Mairon Aulendil because this song is a bonus track of the japanese edition of this album (sorry for my bad english, i am brazilian)

  6. o.... ....

Can it be bonustrack? A LEAD track! One of the band's best :)

  7. D.... G....

Maybe because this sounds more familiar to their old stuff they decided not to include It in an album which tells a story and must sound in a different way

  8. m.... j....

WHAT THE HELL? this song is amazing as hell! I never knew about this song!

  9. i.... ....

I leave Blind for just 10 years and I comeback to this? I want Nightfall back

    i.... ....

@Melvin Weiß Really? Cool..because I thought it had sort of a Nightfall vibe, but I couldn't find any info about the background of the song.

    i.... ....

Oh come on The Ninth Wave is brilliant

    i.... ....

Is there truth behind this? I'm also a fan of the older stuff and I just drifted away from BG over time. Listening to this gives me such old school vibes.

    i.... ....

"Just" 10 years... is a long time.
Apart from that, if this comment is a troll, it succeeds. If not, it's ignorant and ironic.
Lastly, of course Nightfall is still there for you to listen to. Feel free to go back to it.

    i.... ....

@Fiddlebender Yes, it is. An alternate version of this song was just released on the latest Nightfall remaster.

  10. N.... a....

After witnessing so many good bands like nightwish and sonata arctica fall for the grip of generic merchandising im so glad that blind guardian kept it real.I love this band so much

  13. D.... M....

Damn! I got addicted on this song!

  14. D.... ....

Am I missing Something? I have the album (pre-ordered it), I don't have this song. Distant Memories is still the best song on the album, but I am genuinely pissed if this is some special-special edition..

    D.... ....

yeah same. I got the limited digi book with distant memories, but I found a "special-special" edition on nuclear blast that comes with 2 discs, including distant memories and doom.

    D.... ....

Yup, it's a special-special edition, to my knowledge only the $80 Earbook [a large book with a lot of art, lyrics, and some story explanations but still not too-in-depth from what I've heard] comes with Doom. : /

  17. J.... ....

I think the song is about Sauron promising to carry on the work of his former master, Morgoth, after he is sealed into the Door of Night.

    J.... ....

this song is about the chosen one alone in discordia as his army or people sealed the door behind him after he jumped in and he has to face the fallen son by himself

    J.... ....

+Brandon Wheeler Oooooh could you please point me to sources that explain the story in this level of detail? Listening to the lyrics I've only gotten so far ~ my perceptions' changed over time as to what it could mean, quite a few things and stuff, where this story was all written by them.

    J.... ....

@ahums16 the entire album is a continuation of imaginations from the other side

    J.... ....

    @Brandon Wheeler
Oh, I know it's a 'sequel' to it all, leaving off with the boy looking into the mirror to the other dimension, this album proceeding with 'what if he didn't enter'.
It's not the entire album either, for instance 'The Script for my Requiem', which is about a soldier in the Crusades who travels to the Holy Land, and struggles to his very core with the morality of it all, and suffers from PTSD of the things they did in the name of a God who is loving.

Do you know any details about Beyond the Red Mirror?
Like what's the ending's Grand Parade and Doom? I've had several interpretations of everything but lately it sounds like the universe of no gods is prevailing over the one with gods, and they're happy with their 'enlightenment' initially but they're then sealed away into damnation with their false savior by the very forces they denied.
I do not know if this includes the fate of the 'heroes' or not. And often times the songs seem to switch between the viewpoints of both universes and it's hard to distinguish who's the protagonist and who's the antagonist since it seems both sides have their specific labels for everything good and evil.

Also the themes of Sheol (I believe is the place Hansi speaks of? I forget it's name), but I remember it's an ancient form of Hell where everyone good and evil went, and it wasn't a place of happiness but misery. 'Take a look and see it's all the same' is a repeating theme when it's brought up, like both sides no matter what are heading towards this fate and it can't be stopped, it doesn't matter and that this truth is  'a demon, the cruelest of all'.

Do you know anything of this?? I've been wondering about this since this album was released almost two years ago. X3

    J.... ....

Actually Hansi confirmed this song is a leftover from NIME, the production is very 90s and the lyrics could be easily related to Mandos and the curse of Fëanor.

  18. A.... C....

can someone tell me where this fits in the story?

    A.... C....

+Brandon Wheeler It's an epilogue after the Red Mirror is sealed. Whilst what actually happens in the song is up to interpretation, I think that, due to the lyrics, the worlds are now being destroyed.

    A.... C....

    +Jack Arnold oh ok

    A.... C....

@Jack Arnold actually i figured it out, the main character went through the mirror and helped defeat the tyrant but then the others ran through the mirror thinking they were going to conquer discordia and ended up either slaughtering or being defeated then when the main character tried to go back they sealed the mirror out of fear and left him to die in another world, ravaged by war to the point its unlivable in, thus doom

    A.... C....

It could also be a song about hurin and his children, fits well

  19. G.... G....

the best song of the album is the bonus track

    G.... G....

@thecreator625 speak your mind !!! I don't care if you see it differently, say whatever shit you want !!!

Thank you for arguing with me about Blind Gaurdian, it feels good to talk about it.

They have changed a lot, but hopefully the best is yet to come. I miss Hansi the most, he use to sing in the most fucking pounding matter possible, like the songs on Nightfall in Middle Earth , or A Night at the Opera. At The Edge of Time had some of that, like 60-70% of that album. A Voice in the Dark was on parr but nothing close to the past stuff, a big difference was appearing. Beyond the Red Mirror sounds nothing like the thrashy Imaginations from the Other Side. But, thank God, Hansi started talking about this recently, and has a song called "American Goth" on the way. But yea dude, all in all its up to you what you like, Judas Priest and Ozzy win in the long run

    G.... G....

@thecreator625 yea man we are probably reading each other wrong.

Realism vs fantasy. Blind Gaurdian isn't really balancing the two well, particularly on Beyond the Red Mirror. At the Edge of Time did have a good balance of both, but of course wasn't perfect there like particularly A Voice in the Dark........ I'll take it though. But Beyond the Red Mirror was entirely over the wall. Of course I'll always buy their albums just to see what they come up with, I still have a following for them, they were my childhood's favorite band.

Yea Blind Gaurdian says all the time, particularly from At the Edge of Time to the current, "we are keeping our original sound but still incorporating new styles and ideas." I flat out don't agree, Beyond the Red Mirror lacks Hansi's thrash voice. Hansi's thrash voice was the greatest of all time in metal period, but it started to trickle away with A Voice in the Dark. I bought A Voice in the Dark single, and frankly Your the Voice was fucking awesome and is exactly what I like to hear, it was better than the single

I already see we don't agree, I'm not attacking your character, thanks for the chat . P.S - Blind Gaurdian has made it very clear in recent years that their original thrash metal fans will find the newer stuff to be lacking and they are pissed. And they basically say "sorry we can't please everyone". I miss those times, but yes I either learn to adapt to new times or I won't survive as comfortably. Thank you

    G.... G....

@thecreator625 you said Nuclear Blast was the cause of a change in Blind Gaurdian's style? Where did you read that ?

    G.... G....

@Stevie B I had already deleted my original comment because as I said, I literally misread something and thought you were talking about something else at first. Then, when you responded again, I understood what you initially meant. Disregard I said anything about Nuclear Blast. It was not relevant.

Apart from that, I have already said my piece. You have a completely different focus in terms of music which is why you feel the way you do about it. I can only reiterate and try to clarify what I said before.

In my opinion, Blind Guardian never bothered about realism at all. Matter of fact, realism vs fantasy is not the issue here. As I pointed out earlier, almost everything they sing, all their albums are about fantasy or mythology. Even the album titles - A Night at the Opera, Nightfall in Middle Earth, A Twist in the Myth just to name a few - show that.
For music with realism, you simply have to go to other bands with a different style. Simply put, you can't say apples are bad because they aren't oranges.

People seek different things in their entertainment. Not everyone is bothered about realism in music. Not everyone is looking for hidden or overt messages in the music they listen to. Blind Guardian is NOT music for a crowd that seeks to hear about real life and they never were. Some of their musical stories are pretty mature and could be related to real life, but they were ALWAYS fantasy stories.
In other words: you never were their main audience, seeing as how bothered you are about the lack of realism in their music.

Matter of fact, it's not required for music to have realism in it. A lot of songs would not have been successful if they did. Entertainment can be a form of escaping from reality. You wouldn't want to hear about such topics if you do that, would you? Sometimes all you want is senseless fantasy. That's part of the reason why so many gaming streamers have a strict "no politics" rule on their streams.

If you prefer a type of music because of how they deal with realism - or because they deal with it at all in the first place - then that's your taste, your opinion. Music that doesn't do that is not objectively worse because of that. Just maybe less enjoyable for you and like-minded individuals.

With how much you keep going on about Hansi's thrash voice, I'm gathering you were really focussed on one particular aspect of the band that was more prevalent in the older albums. However, that doesn't mean the new albums do not have any energy. Beyond the Red Mirror is actually one of my favourites, partially because it is different, though I can appreciate almost every single one of their albums. Once again though, taste differs.

With all of that being said, I hope you understand what I meant now. Either way, I'm well aware we disagree as our personal taste differs. But that's fine. One never needs to agree on personal taste.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    G.... G....

@thecreator625 thank you for your compromising comment. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too !! I'm pretty sure I almost completely understand your view. I would say there is a lot of realism in Blind Gaurdian, taking a Nightfall in Middle Earth from how one could relate it's words back to real life. Yes most BG music is straight from already written stories, but Beyond the Red Mirror was a story BG made up themselves, I figured an album like that was coming our way eventually.

  20. S.... ....

This song just sounds nice on my ears, especially the chorus!

  21. T.... G....

And this should be a Bonustrack?Seriously? This is an awesome song, thanks Marcus

    T.... G....

As much as I like it, I think it's still the weakest song on the album. Which isn't saying much because it's fantastic from start to finish. I wish the bit at 1:32 was the chorus

    T.... G....

It's a bonustrack because it was supposed to be included in nightfall in middle-earth.

  22. f.... ....

this and distant memories best songs in the album !!! and both songs are bonus tracks ??? im hearing good old guardian in this one !!

    f.... ....

don't forget sacred mind, ik its not like their old but my god that tempo change and intensity at the beginning changed from light intro to intense harmony of chorus and I really loved it, but yes distant memories and this were very great reminders that blind guardian doesn't look like they're slowing down especially grand parade being a bigger ending with outstanding performance. this and twilight on middle earth are my favorites

    f.... ....

Cause it is a leftover from NIME

  23. M.... R....

Is a single ???? I can't find this song on iTunes

    M.... R....

    its a bonus track

    M.... R....

+Michael Kintzlinger and now it's being downloaded *copies to YouTube to mp3*

  24. D.... V....

Why isn't this song on the iTunes version??? Damn you bonus tracks!!!

    D.... V....

davobard it's all good, just pirate it

  25. J.... C....

Awesome! in this song Blind Guardian sounds more dark!!! excellent and great song! of course, it should be Hansi and Co. Up the Bards!!!!

  26. j.... s....

what's this one about? I got the rest, but not this one. also, I swear I've heard miracle machine before.

    j.... s....

+MRGood I would rather say this song is about Fëanor, his kin and Mandos curse. This song was supposed to be part of NIME and afterwards to be included in an EP with NIME leftovers (as Harvest of Sorrow) which was never released due to Hansi's ear sickness

    j.... s....

    +Juan Vergara
Therein lies the beauty of music. It can be interpreted in very different ways by different people. I may disagree with you, but I love that you have such a wildly contrasting read on it.

I disagree primarily because I'd be surprised that they would put a Middle Earth track on an album more akin to Imaginations From the Other Side. Also, there actually was a song called Harvest of Sorrows completed. It was included as a bonus track on the re-release of NIME, also A Night at the Opera. It's not about Feanor though. I originally thought it was about the vanishing of Melian, but I think it's based on Turin.

    j.... s....

+josh squidlyburgh I think that it's an epilogue after the Mirror is sealed.

    j.... s....

+Jack Arnold The band did confirm that this song is an outtake from Nightfall, but also said that this version was a rewrite.

  27. w.... ....

    Doom? more like CastleVania

  28. J.... C....

This song is a Master Piece of Blind Guardian!!!! Majestic!!!!

    J.... C....

+Juan Carlos Moyetones Hidalgo I think so too.

  29. J.... A....

Best Blind Guardian song released, period.

  30. u.... ....

Thank you. Why was that song not on the album? I hate Bonustracks. It is unfair. Very good.

    u.... ....

    +ummum Blame Nuclear Blast.

    u.... ....

+MRGood Distant Memories is on the Earbook edition alongside Doom.

    u.... ....

+Hailstorm273 heh, yes it is, I didn't mean to imply it isn't. The problem with the earbook is it's triple the price and not readily available (really only on the Nuclear Blast site). It wasn't even available at their concert. Honestly, I probably would've bought it if they'd been selling it there.

    u.... ....

Yeah, that thing was expensive.  I think I've seen some copies on eBay that have this song as well, which were much cheaper.

    u.... ....

This why I never feel bad about downloading bonus tracks by ill means! it's not fair,I bought the damn album I want the full album!

  31. J.... H....

this song is so good. my love for this band reborn, not that it ever falter... it just burns much brighter.

  32. D.... V....

    Thank you so much!!

  33. G.... H....

Holy shit thank you best track ever! I bought the cd but don't have this song. It completes the album

    G.... H....

+Greg Hurst I prefer Grand Parade, but this song certainly is good too. Concerning Blind Guardian (and mostly Beyond the Red Mirror) I feel extremely spoiled though. The worst song of the album would be better than average on nearly any other metal album.

    G.... H....

+Leyrann The more I listen to this song, the more I like it... Not quite as much as some other songs on the album, but it's amazing anyways.

    G.... H....

@Leyrann Well, first of all, in my opinion it is the best song of that album.
Secondly, it's actually an unfinished song that was meant to be in Nightfall in Middle-Earth with slightly changed lyrics.
Thirdly, both versions are awesome. It's really only the lyrics that are different and not by all that much, but the difference really carries meaning and is impactful.
