Blind Faith - Do What You Like Lyrics

Do right, use your head, everybody must be fed
Get together, break your bread, yes, together, that's what I said
Do what you like

Don't fight
Don't fight, use your head, it's all right every night
Do what you like, that's what I said
Everybody must be fed, do what you like

Open your eyes, realize you're not dead

Take a look at an open book
Do what you like, that's what I said, do what you like

Do right, use your head, everybody must be fed
Get together, break some bread, yes together, that's what I said
Do what you like

Open your eyes, use your head, realize that you're not dead
Take a look at an open book, let it cook
That's what I said, do what you like

I was in high school when this album came out. Never had heard of the group but I knew all the members. Decided to buy it at a store which had British imports just because the cover was captivating. I'm sure the cover boosted sales...until it was banned. Still have it as a LP.

  4. 2.... ....

Just FYI, this tune is in 5/4 time....5/4 time is the signature of the famous Jazz tune "Take Five". It is a crazy time signature, hard to play and hard to make it groove well.
I cannot think of any other rock tune in 5/4 time....

Not to hate on anything but bands these days don't really jam anymore; everyone's way too worried about the aesthetic of presenting music rather than playing it. I never really met people who liked to jam and I always wondered why do some people think music is always meant to be short? Music is music, it is either good or bad.

    What a sound !

Exhilerating performance by Ginger, so colorful. A master just like Van Gogh. He didn't care about credit or popularity, he cared only the music and being the best he can be. Just like Vincent, supreme artists, very similar. One journeys to France to hone their skills, the other to Africa to find further inspiration and to improve themself like a religion. It was the music and he sacrificed himself for it, a true master. He didn't play music, the music travelled through him. This is his greatest, ultimate perfection. I still can't believe how he did it. A hero. It's none of my business he was apparently a prick, but, it was his way of focussing his craft. You see if he was too likeable others would gush over him and he wouldn't try as hard. This is a frenzy like a whirling dervish, a one person seeming like 5, all with style, see how he does his solo and then fits back in as if nothing just happened. No wonder him and Jimi were friends. I wonder if he knew Arthur Lee?

  18. M.... U....

Ginger Baker, RIP. 6 October 2019. This was one of Ginger Bakers compositions. One of the finest drummers of the progressive rock era, alongside Keith Moon of The Who.
Played with the Cream alongside Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce - arguably the most memorable of all of the so-called Super Groups at the time. A true LEGEND!

  19. l.... l....

Love the drums on this one. R.I.P. Ginger.

  28. J.... L....

When we first got this album, I just thought it was a nice looking girl with kind of curly hair. I was fifteen years old and it never occurred to me that she was under age. Great music, Steve singing and Eric on guitar.

    J.... L....

    and not a metoo
complaint at all. Times have changed.

    J.... L....

  30. D.... M....

Someone in my house said this sounds like Pentecostal worship

    D.... M....

    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    D.... M....

yeah, improvisational style, hushed volume, repetitive sounds and lyrics move me right into an altered mental state  ... Easy to pass the time and hard to get to work with Blind Faith

  31. j.... g....

How could they put a FUCKING ad in the middle of a Ginger FUCKING Baker drum solo. FUCK!!!!

  32. T.... M....

OMG ....IT sounds like Ginger Baker is really about 2.or..3 ..drummers all playing together ...

    T.... M....

My older brother loved Ginger and he saw him doing this song, he was tripping out that aapparently Ginger liked throwing the sticks in the air and catching them between beats. He said by the end of the concert his hands were bleeding. I believe it, Ginger can be powerful, fast and sublime all at the same time, he's freaking awesome. I don't ever get tired of Blind Faith.

  33. T.... M....

GREAT UPLOAD THX SO MUCH ..MUCHAS GRACIAS....

  34. J.... A....

  37. C.... R....

Qué nostalgia más hermosa. Ahora me vuelo lúcido con está música toda la vida grande por siempre blin fait.

  38. J.... R....

Smoke some hashish and let's blast off for Jupiter.

    J.... R....

WHY STOP AT JUPITER??? THE STARS AWAIT US....(no hash needed)......as I discovered....been smoking for 40 plus years, but stopped recently, 'cause I wanted to sing again, and found out ...the REAL "high" is all in your MIND....and I can sing again almost as good as I did when I was 17.....

    J.... R....

I smoked Jack Herer and think about time to light up and leave me alone. Hopefully you're familiar with Steve Winwood and Traffic's song of the same name... Why's there an ad right after the drum solo starts? Kinda disturbed the flow.

  39. .... ....

    Does he still alive❔

    .... ....

高桑浩通 yes he still a live

  40. e.... ....

one of the great rock-jazz band ever!they dont make them any more like this!

  41. T.... W....

I wish there was a video to go along with this song. Is there?

    T.... W....

ONLY 1.......when they played live in Hyde Park ...the concert is amazing too...on youtube..

    T.... W....

I just found this without doing a search, it came up with this video. It's only about 5 minutes long and I didn't watch it, live Blind Faith. I guess that's what you mean by a video to go with it; some videos are clips of photos or video slides. Do what you like: https://youtu.be/LyRWboKYqyE
This is Blind Faith Sea of Joy, it has a video, but it's not live. Someone made it, it's nice and I love the electric violin solo. Rick Gretch. I've seen comments that it's Charlie Daniels. Not. This is a beautiful song.

    T.... W....

@Tim McCarthy I wasn't looking for Blind Faith, but YouTube is watching, I've been listening to them so they are suggesting this, it is over an hour. I think it said Guttenberg. I figured I'd share it with you and the person who asked about video.

  43. A.... O....

I have two versions of this cover, I remember the record stores would let the public see the cover we see here in the Boston area stores. Could only hear this song on the radio after 11 pm on WBCN, I guess to long for other stations. I love Ginger Baker`s drum solo as it is probably the best of all time.

    A.... O....

Yeah they looked for a long time for the girl on the first cover (shown) but said her budding breasts were pornographic. I used to love cover art and liner notes, especially when it was first opened. I guess Jethro Tull's Thick As A Brick, with the newspaper that folded out, following the articles on the cover, I seem to remember "rabbit? What rabbit?" Being part of an article, I think that's probably the most memorable cover. And I had the first cover for Roger Waters Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking which was yanked from store shelves because of the female hitchhiker's nude butt, she was an artist's rendering, not even a photograph. They printed a black box over her butt. I really don't see what the big deal was. It was a beautiful cover, I wasn't in the least offended.

    A.... O....

@Robin Potter It was absurd for the record companies to be so prudish over naked girls etc. Nobody of my generation considered it pornographic, it was simply art. All it takes
is a few guilty perverts to shame beauty. btw Do you remember Jethro Tull's Stand Up ?? When you opened the gateway cover up popped the band just like the pop up books
from my youth, (50's and 60's)....

  44. O.... B....

    Great Album.

    m.... z....

    That's her on the cover?

    m.... z....

    mortimer zilch
No. It’s Rachel Maddow. From the planet of Dykonia. Before she cleaned carpets.

    m.... z....

    @John Moesche Mariora Goschen.

    m.... z....

Wrong, not gingers daughter and she was 11

  50. S.... K....

Great song of an equally wonderful album. Ginger Baker at it's most in an excellent performance not usual in songs based on a drums solo. One of my all times favorites, Thanks for some of my treasured memories!

    S.... K....

    I agree with you.

    S.... K....

First heard it in 1967 and got hooked!

    S.... K....

Sorry, but it is from ´69, but I got hooked too, same day as John Lennons "Come together", now 50 yrs ago.
On this track I find the playing of all is top notch (except bass-solo ..., and the reprise from ~13´ sounds a bit hurried ).
Especially in the ensemble parts Ginger shows the jazz drummer he originally is. Hear the steady left foot high-hat and ride cymbal, really swinging right from the start.
