Blackmore's Night - Health To The Company Lyrics

Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again

Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again

Our ship lies at harbour she's ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
And if we should meet again by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me

My footsteps may falter my wit it may fail
My course may be challenged by November gale
Ere fortune shall prove to be friend or be foe
You will always be with me wherever I go

    "Early music for dummies".

  6. D.... M....

It is a shame how people today use Jesus incorrectly; But, even worse, it is a shame how a majority of people had people seeing him wrongly (as a bad person), which lead him (Jesus) to becoming crucified. This song has the words: "I will always remember your kindness to me" (what ever the fortune of life that falls upon thee). It reminds me of the fate explained in the Accordance (Gospel) which is worded about Jesus.

  7. J.... ....

A very nice take on the song, but I prefer it performed as a drinking song (like in Black Flag).

  8. Y.... A....

Gorrammit, every rendition of this song that I can find is slow and contemplative. It's supposed to be a drinking song!

    Y.... A....

Is it supposed to be a drinking song? I mean I can understand it but the lyrics are too sombre to be one you'd sing regularly. For me its more of a "final drink with friends that you are leaving behind" kind of song. Its intended to be very slow and contemplative.

Even very upbeat acts like Longest Johns and Minstrels of Mayhem sing it in this kind of way. I'm not convinced there is a way to sing this happily, the lyrics are too clear on their meaning.

  9. D.... A....

    great song!!!!!.......come to Brazil!!!!

  10. D.... V....

    Pastime with good company...

  11. E.... A....

so much truth to this song its ridiculous. :) Amazing Blackmore's night. U know I'm glad they aren't a mainstream band or it would put pressure on them and ruin their fun which makes their craft so beautiful :)

  12. A.... Q....

Beautiful song from a fantastic band :)

  13. R.... ....

Texst-wise, this one reminds me of "Drink with me" from Les Misérables...

  14. S.... ....

    wonderful

  15. s.... ....

Thanks for posting. RIP Owain, my friend.

    s.... ....

The bards will sing his songs forever.

  16. t.... ....

I'm hoping to not be bearing bad news...but Owain passed away last year.

  17. S.... ....

Actually, Rennies are smart enough to know you don't eat the turkey legs. And I'll gladly be a rennie over a muggle like you. I get to see buff men in loincloths and gorgeous ladies in nothing but chainmaile.

  18. S.... ....

He is greatly missed by many

  19. K.... M....

Has anyone ever heard of a group out of Alaska called Banish Misfortune?? Would have been in the 80's but theirs was the first version I ever heard and now I cant find a trace of them.

  20. N.... T....

To the one who asked if I'm mad, the answer is no... I genuinely think it's awesome...

  21. B.... ....

    Owain Phyfe RIP

  22. k.... ....

I really don't like turkey legs and I dont wear tights. jerk.

  23. k.... ....

Really? and you should know not all of us "turkey leg eating nerds" eat turkey legs. Thanks. And being one of those is probably one of the greatest times of my life. Some of my dearest friends are Rennies and they are some of the nicest most genuine people I know. And I dont by any means find them weird of have ever found then weird. Go experience it for yourself with people who know how to have a good time.

  24. P.... R....

I find that racist. Just because you go to a Ren Faire doesn't mean you eat turkey legs! It just makes us nerds weird. This is not my favorite version, but thats because i have grown up with it. It is fantastic though.

  25. N.... T....

    Awesome.

  26. A.... L....

we are singing this song in my singing class it kinda sounds like a pochahontas song

  27. m.... ....

Much gentler than that of Kevin Connef of the Chieftains, ehich also has it's boisterous charms. Thank you! She has a Lorreena McKennit feel to her style.

  28. P.... K....

beautiful song!!!Ritchie is genius!!!Blackmore's night is fantastic band!!!

  29. E.... ....

@AkiraRose This song expresses the last day of Faire so perfectly!

  30. T.... G....

    tasarhai saihan duu bnshuu

  31. C.... ....

I really wish I could Find the Guitar chords for this song.

  32. S.... ....

Good song. Best sung on the last night of SCA outings, around a fire with horns being passed....

  33. h.... ....

a true classic...the band has done it again , its a great goodbye song ( funeral ) i might use it for mine....alot later of course.....blackmores night...great stuff..keep it comin......

  34. P.... ....

Rest In Peace Brittnay Tidwell. This song was sung at your funeral. We love you dearly, always and forever...

  35. N.... S....

This is an old Pub drinking song I've heard around the Renn's. They've really smoothed it out.

  36. s.... ....

Personally, I like this song because it relaxes me. Come to think of it, the majority of Blackmore's Night's music relaxes me.

I won't pay any mind to the haters. Come the holiday season, I hope to get this CD for either my birthday or Christmas

  37. O.... ....

This actually is a pretty good song and very similar to one of my favorite songs by Cecile Corbel called Blackbird.

  38. j.... ....

@Whitesnake984 lol I don't understand,I mean this song is very much in the vein of B/N with a lot of typical haunting medievil feel like so many others on the album which you say you like a lot.I can understand the more commercialy sounding celluloid heroes or possibly even Journeyman(although that song whilt i hated it it on the samples a few weeks back is actually a really good song as it turns out)but what is wrong with this fine piece of music?like you say it is just your opinion

  39. E.... S....

Is maybe the more irish one in their albums.
It's because of the melody and the tone.
    Good one :D

  40. l.... ....

@Whitesnake984 What thing don't you like in this song? :) Is it the text, music...? I'm just curious.
