Black Crowes, The - Been A Long Time (Waiting On Love) Lyrics

Earthbound wingless dream child born to necessity
Tied to crimson velvet wings (she flies)
New moon midnight star, medicine is in the jar
Headful of going far, (she flies)
Lost out on the dream road
Looking for a keyhole
Never try to fight it, feeling right inside it....

Low country blushing bride blind to the ways of time
Clear crystal burning mind, (she flies)
Falling through liquid air with music everywhere
Stone faces silent stare, (she flies)
The old guard on the hill can feel the chill
Deep into the freeze of those who don't believe

[Chorus:]
Been a long time (Waiting on Love) [4x]

Damp with this morning dew the world is bright and new
Her word is always true, she flies
Step into the new day right over the old way
We are the horizon see our future smilin'

[Chorus:]
Been a long time (Waiting on Love) [4x]

Lost out on the dream road
Looking for a keyhole
Never try to fight it, feeling right inside it....

[Chorus: Two times to end]

Been a long time (Waiting on Love) [4x]

Black Crowes, The Been A Long Time (Waiting On Love) Comments
  1. L.... N....

Welcome 2020 unfortunately Luther is no longer with the Crowes, but going to see North Mississippi All-Stars and Black Crowes this year!!!!!! Best blues rock band of the past 30 years. Always think of early Aerosmith and Allman Brothers love child. Great musicians and SO glad to have the brothers back. 2020 Shake your money maker tour revisited.

  2. T.... S....

Never realized or forgot about Joe being in the background for this. Love how he has intertwined himself into the crowes over the years

  3. T.... S....

Who are the crazy ass 40 people who don't like this? Hope I don't ever meet ya.

  7. F.... ....

There is no such thing as a bad Black Crowes tune, live or in the studio. I've been listening to TBC for two days straight now and I'm floored. Yep, my fave band next to Zep and the Stones. Underrated, underloved, and that just fine. They're like me.

    F.... ....

Calling yourself underrated is a bit... strange, but I fully agree with you on the other stuff.

    F.... ....

What I mean is that I can relate. I've always underrated myself as an artist, a sister, a woman. Just general stuff.@Ethan Carey

  8. f.... s....

I'm into my 50's now , I've listened to the brothers from the beginning, they've never compromised, their style , beliefs or their musical integrity,,for 20 plus years they've been doing the damn thing!! Because of life and some incarceration, I wasn't able to keep up with the brothers crow," but out of the blue, something said find them listen to them, and after seeing and hearing from them again, I felt gods fingernail scratching my soul again, and that ,my friend's is the essence of rock and roll!!! When this bands can deliver the same gut punch that it did 20 odd years ago, that's the hallmark of great music!!! As far as I'm concerned they are ,along with a handful of bands are keeping rock and roll alive in this country, and people need to show them a lot more respect for being genuine and not selling out, and staying true to their craft,, God bless you Robinson Bros!!!, It's been a pleasure listening to you, ,keep on walking that walk.....

  9. J.... O....

Even old HAM HANDS sounds good on this cut!!

  10. p.... Y....

When Chris speaks I hear him .when Chris sings I enjoy hearing him .beautiful person excellent writer .

Rock the F!! OUT!!!! Shake the house DOWN!!!! BC's!!¡!!¡!!

  14. g.... h....

    Intro sounds like CCR

  15. E.... C....

Im glad they gave us so much material to listen to right on through 90's Robinsons and crew didnt just play music they set a mood with there sound, its the whole package is what made them so good.

  16. R.... M....

    One of there best songs

  17. C.... C....

Hands down the best. Makes me so sad these guys are not talking. life is too short there blood

  18. M.... ....

Only thing missing from this is Marc Ford on guitar

  19. J.... T....

I DON T HOW BUT THESE GUY HAD A 60 FEEL AND GROOVE FEEL

  20. l.... d....

Anybody else notice how Chris magically changed his shirt several times during this "live" performance? Don't get me wrong, I love this song and the Crowes in general. There must have been several takes on this one.

  21. I.... O....

    🎵🎶♥

  22. f.... ....

The last 3 minutes is fuckin scorching rock and roll.
Luther Dickinson owns that fuckin guitar man

  23. b.... ....

Whatever that guy said in the beginning was obviously a funny inside joke because the whole band laughed. Well, except Rich. He seems incapable of that emotion.

  24. p.... ....

That lead is SCORCHING at the end...wow...

  25. B.... ....

They were so hot at this gig! The band had matured even more and they made some superb, timeless music on these two discs

  26. J.... P....

This is my favorite Crowes lineup. I know Marc and Eddie are/were unbelievable, but Luther and Adam? Come on! Here’s enough evidence

  27. C.... e....

this band is unknown in Europe or just a little ...that's a fucking shame !!!! i love it !!!.

  28. m.... c....

Sometimes you get these special performances, for me, the MTV Unplugged stuff with Nirvana, Pearl Jam,Aerosmith etc, I think this performance although it seems unavailable on you tube, ( I do own a copy I just don't own a DVD player anymore!) is for me a thing of pure brilliance, very sad to hear the Robinson brothers seem to have parted company, love Chris but the music ain't there without Rich. Had the the pleasure of meeting the guys on a back street in Camden in the late 80's, still riding on it now! Last time I saw them was in Birmingham in I think 2013, a band that I can listen to over and over and never get tired of it, there ain't many bands that have that, for me anyway.
A band I try and introduce to anyone I think deserves the luxury, if you don't love these guys you've missed out.

  29. M.... T....

    Holy fucking shit

  30. V.... D....

This band is so fucking good!!!!

  31. D.... ....

    I know that place well..

    D.... ....

DuneAquaViva I try to remain there!! lol!

  32. A.... A....

    playback detected

  33. F.... M....

Black Crowes you know yourselves the charisma just flowed here like magic the best rockin blues band that has ever produced music in that way. Hope the best to all that has been in this band hope some day you need to do it again Sincerely from another Guitarist

  34. f.... m....

a machine could never do that

  35. R.... H....

waiting my love no been long time ,so cool crowers !

  36. H.... ....

I love the BCs. They remind me a bit of the original Faces with Rod Stewart.

    H.... ....

I was hooked when they reminded me of Humble Pie.
In some pics Chris is wearing a Smokin, Humble Pie shirt.
Chris can hit-it like Steve Marriot.(search Black Coffee: )

  37. M.... ....

Oh...I love this one too...Wish they would pull it all back together for one more album...Love their sound...

  38. P.... M....

See? Everybody likes the rocking songs!!!

  39. D.... S....

Luther is striaght nasty!!!! Would love to know the chain of that tone. Incredible

  40. S.... R....

This whole recording session over that couple of weeks is great. LOVE the Cabin Fever DVD. I watch Luther Dickinson and Rich Robinson play off each other for the rest of my life. Those guys were so great together. I always wondered why they didn't invite Luther back out on the 2013 tour, but oh well, their loss. I know nothing about how to play a guitar and won't bore anybody with "greatest this or that", but I will say I dearly love the sounds that Luther produces with a guitar. Kills me that Chris killed this band. I wish he and Rich and Steve would get their shit together. I appears Chris ended it permanently this time. Damn shame.

    S.... R....

Scott Russell Luther is awesome!!! Reminds me of John Kaye

    S.... R....

    Luther opted out

  41. J.... N....

    yes round about?

  42. J.... H....

6:44 I love the phrasing of that part...

  43. T.... P....

dammit why did this great band have to break up? FUCK! another one down just like we lost the Beatles..

    T.... P....

@***** these guys are not that old.. they should have taken a break and come back refreshed and full of ideas for the next album but like the brothers of The Kinks and Oasis, the brothers of this band didn't get along and broke the band up way too early.. imi hoping someday the brothers will have a change of heart and make up and get the band back together for a reunion..

    T.... P....

+WhatMeWorry? According to the most recent article with Chris Robinson, he said no chance of them getting back together..all has to do with the money and the 'shares' of the band

    T.... P....

    +Karkle Exactly right unfortunately. http://www.eonline.com/news/615739/the-black-crowes-break-up-find-out-what-rich-robinson-and-steve-gorman-said-about-the-split

  44. J.... D....

When you don't like something, it'd be to say why.

  45. J.... D....

i love this one. Someone has to be the first to comment.

  46. J.... D....

Every little bit of this DVD is awesome.

  47. p.... ....

I could put this song on repeat mode and listen to nothing else. Then again, I could do the same with most of their songs. My only complaint with the BC is all of there songs should be 20 minutes long. Or more..

  48. s.... ....

    Jamminn!!

  49. J.... J....

Agree with whoever said they're the best American rock band of all time. They might have missed their spiritual era but that's hardly their fault. I'm just glad there was at least ONE band flying the flag for the real stuff during my lifetime. I hate to say it but I very much doubt there'll be another like them.

  50. G.... H....

    cookin'...

  51. t.... ....

    Fuckin insane 🎸🎸🎸🎸

    t.... ....

talltoise 4REAL!!! I wanna go to a drumming with CR!!

  52. J.... C....

    Vibrato ballad rock & soul.GO!

  53. J.... J....

This is REAL rock n roll, people!

    J.... J....

Yess This  is Rock n roll

  54. s.... c....

un po gli zepp un po gli allman bros e una bella spruzzata di stones questi sono i black crowes fantastici

  55. J.... J....

    Holy shit balls!

    J.... J....

You nailed it :-D What a great band!!!!! Period.

  56. k.... ....

Ever wondered what the Stones would sound like if Jagger could actually 'sing' ......

  57. F.... ....

The Black Crowes are definitely THE best rock band in history.

    F.... ....

    F3FisGoodforYou that's a bold opinion

  58. T.... C....

That sums it up. In my humble opinion they are undoubtedly the undisputed greatest rock band ever out of the U.S. There simply is nobody in their league. We are truly blessed to have had them in our lifetime! I waited and waited after Zeppelin's demise and wondered if I would ever be "saved" and then the Black Crowes came along. I felt like I had been delivered from evil. I'm not forgetting SRV. I view Stevie as a solo artist even though he had a great band.

  59. R.... M....

The ending gives me chills every single time.

  60. Z.... ....

is Luther using some kind of Fuzz Face in his solos?

    Z.... ....

    i am curious too

  61. W.... H....

in the chorus he gets hot so he needs to take his shirt off :D then put it back on the verse :D

    W.... H....

It's a "studio" album made in front of a live audience. They did each song more than once. The harmonica part must have been better during the take when he had that shirt on. Luther's shirt is different too.

  62. W.... H....

i cant say more than.... Thanks uploader, i love this video

  63. c.... c....

oh wow, i never noticed lol

  64. T.... S....

This IS the best American rock band today and one of the best ever. They are The Band with more soul and power. Chris sounds better today then ever and this line up kills it!

  65. d.... ....

BEST BAND IN THE FUCKIN WORLD. PERIOD.

  66. d.... ....

Love the start-bam! We are the horizon ; ) Let's stop the madness

  67. S.... B....

  79. M.... ....

This is what Im talkin about! Pay attention young people, this is how it's done.

  80. Q.... C....

@twst1 At least one guitar is tuned to open C7, makes it pretty awkward to learn how to play the song for those of us not used to it haha

  81. t.... ....

    @QCusic ?

  82. 5.... ....

@rodlonger17 I'm with you. Just some of the greatest rock we've had in a long time. They should all ready be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  83. Q.... C....

    Open C7.. the bastards

  84. R.... S....

    @MrV2rocket editing...

  85. M.... ....

feeling tall !!! great great muisc !!!

  86. 0.... ....

How doe sLuther change his shirt so quick? 5.36 he's wearing a black shirt, at 5.38 he's in a white T-shirt???

  87. m.... h....

God thanks for join this band...

  88. r.... ....

This is truely one of the best American rock n roll bands of all time; maybe the best of all time. The names and faces have changed a bit in the last 20+ years but this line up is UNREAL with unfathomable depth and talent. Like most legends, they just keep getting better with time and fearlessly doing it their way; no BS allowed. So rare and precious in these times. Truely amazing music. Thanx so much guys...

  89. T.... ....

I'm so glad the Robinson brothers were able to work out their differences. They make some damn good tunes.

  90. D.... J....

@ Gidster 19...couldn't agree with you more...Luther is absolutely off the hook...that guy completely tears it up...

The sheer volume of killer music these guys have put out over the past 20 years is nothing short of amazing...

Can't wait to see Chris and the CRB in Big Sur, CA next month...

  91. G.... ....

And while im rambling about the best clip on youtube, fucking Chris is the shit. I love his reaction to Luther's solo from about 6:55 onwards. He's the best front man there ever was and ever will be.

  92. G.... ....

Top of their game. They're so good now they can pull off anything they like. There's a fucking disco number on Before The Frost and its the best disco number I've ever heard. Croweology is another case in point. They could do 5 more Croweologies and not run out of cool songs to do. There aren't too many bands who could run off 100 songs without throwing duds around. And they're getting better with age.

Totally timeless, in a class of one. And Luther, thats a purple fucking heart man.

  93. C.... !....

2:21 - oops! Video editor is definitely not a drummer.

  94. T.... ....

@yeaghallow Fuck yeah bro! I have been there with you a few of those times!

  95. B.... ....

Thank god, there are still some people in 2010 who know what real rock'n roll looks like ... The Crowes are my ray of light in these times of darkness ...

  96. c.... ....

    ...don't want it to stop!

  97. A.... D....

What does Steve say right before they start?

  98. N.... B....

@rusty5647 It was filmed over a couple of days and they did a few takes of each song. They just chopped different footage together.

  99. J.... S....

Anyone notice Chris' shirt change at 2:22 then back to the black shirt at 3:06? I suppose with lightning fast speed one could change shirts like that...can anyone say...take 2 overdub??? I love the sliding scale of studio performance cheating.

  100. B.... C....

I wish they would've let Luther continue that solo. It was on the verge of epicness!
