B.J. Thomas - Home Where I Belong Lyrics

They say that heavens pretty
And living here is too
But if they said that I would
Have to choose between the two

I'd go home, going home
Where I belong
And sometimes when I'm dreaming
It comes as no surprise
That if you look and see
The homesick feeling in my eyes

I'm going home, going home
Where I belong
While I'm here I'll serve him gladly
And sing him all my songs

I'm here, but not for long
And when I'm feeling lonely
And when I'm feeling blue
It's such a joy to know that
I am only passing through

I'm headed home, going home
Where I belong
And one day I'll be sleeping
When death knocks on my door
And I'll awake and find
That I'm not homesick anymore

I'll be home, going home
Where I belong, hmm

B.J. Thomas Home Where I Belong Comments
  1. V.... T....

Feb 5, 2020: I dedicate this song to Tim Duran Jr. (Woburn, MA) and Sgt Manuel R. Martinez, 23, who was killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe. Returning to Albuquerque from a long work week at the Farmington mines, Manuel rolled his 240Z Datsun. Manuel trained as a Marine at Camp Pendleton (radio operator), served a year in Okinawa (ordered his car) and was a member of the VFW, Catholic Church & Carpenters Union. (Still in high school, we exchanged letters often. By the time I graduated, I knew I had fallen in love with him. Because of my mother, we were barely speaking at the time of his accident.) Manuel graduated from West Mesa High School in 1970 and participated in track & field. Manuel's shy grin, warm heart, gentle spirit and strong work ethic were endearing traits. *In Christ we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of God’s grace.  Ephesians 1:7 KATRINA

I saw BJ in concert tonight in Austin. He didn't sing this song, wish he had. I really would have enjoyed it and it was what I was looking forward to. I told my son tonight what it meant to me...and that will have to be enough for now. One day...I look forward to going home to be with loved ones.

Being a fifth generation sojourner in America(this earthly ball). I'm not looking where I belong anymore.  I just want to go home! Can someone lead me to the lyrics and guitar chords for this song, "Home where I belong". Everybody is apprehensive about the unknown, me too.  But death is just a portal. I still hav a ways before I cross that threshold, so I need this song along the way! thankx, later md

The man still walks with Jesus and was glad to hear what I had to say about this song and the rest of his Gospel songs. BJ squeezed my hand and looked me in the eye and said: "Thank You!!!" +Shandra Robertson Did he sing Christian or secular songs or a mixture? I love the Christian songs he did in the 1970s and 1980s because they have such a strong, yet simple message.  His secular songs are also great.

We found this song on short notice for my daughter to play her guitar to and my husband to sing to at the funeral. it turned out amazing. I listened to alot of old music with my mother while she was alive. I never heard her play this one. It is her song now and she never even knew it. I love you Mommie.....I will always remember.

I was a new child in Christ when this song came out. I was so happy to hear Bj Thomas singing about the Lord. He was already one of my favorite secular singers but hearing him sing for the Lord was such a blessing to me. This is still one of my favorite songs because it's exactly how I feel, I'm only passing through, I long for my real home.

  47. m.... ....

i almost cried too thinking about all the children, babies, and fetuses in heaven right now who were killed in the great flood... usa #1. i wonder what "bj" stands for...

Hi, I also have stage 4 cancer as of two years ago...God is helping, for it has not been a cancer scare, but a cancer dare. ;)
I am not in denial, but defiance, and the Spirit's assurance has wrought a revelation of our Access to Grace in Jesus our Lord, the 'Passover Lamb'.
It has thus far been working an affection on things Above, where He now sits.
Jesus quicken you now, and then, in a twinkling of an eye...Blessings in that home full of angels. :) GDM
