Billy Joel - Keeping The Faith Lyrics
If it seems like I've been lost
In let's remember
If you think I'm feeling older
And missing my younger days
Oh, then you should have known me much better
Got in my way
Oh no
Still I would not be here now
If I never had the hunger
And I'm not ashamed to say
The wild boys were my friends
Oh
'Cause I never felt the desire
'Til their music set me on fire
That's why I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
We wore old matador boots
Only Flagg Brothers had them with a Cuban heel
Iridescent socks with the same color shirt
And a tight pair of chinos
Oh
I put on my shark skin jacket
You know the kind with the velvet collar
And ditty-bop shades
Oh yeah
I took a fresh pack of Luckies
And a mint called Sen-Sen
My old man's Trojans
And his Old Spice after shave
Oh
Combed my hair in a pompadour
Like the rest of the Romeos wore
A permanent wave, Yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
You can get just so much
From a good thing
You can linger too long
In your dreams
Say goodbye to the
Oldies but goodies
'Cause the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
Learned stickball as a formal education
Lost a lot of fights
But it taught me how to lose O.K.
Oh, I heard about sex
But not enough
I found you could dance
And still look tough anyway
Oh yes I did
I found out a man ain't just being macho
Ate an awful lot of late night drive-in food
Drank a lot of take home pay
I thought I was the Duke of Earl
When I made it with a red-haired girl
In the Chevrolet. Oh yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
You know the good ole days weren't always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
I told you my reasons
For the whole revival
Now I'm going outside to have
An ice cold beer in the shade
Oh, I'm going to listen to my 45's
Ain't it wonderful to be alive
When the rock 'n' roll plays, yeah
When the memory stays, yeah
I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
I'm keeping the faith,
Yes I am

Billy Joel's Videos are very well put together, I think "A Matter of Trust" is maybe my favorite music video.
I only like evil gangsta rap
But I make room for these marvelous music videos
Love this song ❤️
I'll tell you the truth..If you love these videos, go see him in concert!! I've been to 3, gifted friends 3 more and every one was AWESOME! (Fenway this year next!)
Joe Piscopo as Sinatra at the end????
An Innocent Man remains the best album of 1960.
Christy Brinkley, red hair, ex-wife
I really love this song.....and a great video too 😍💗💗💗💗💗💗
NEVER be ashamed that the white boys are your friends.
Him and DLR make the best videos!!

These videos remind me of watching the Monkees on TV as a kid
My friend is really going to regret calling my music stupid
I tried this in court a few months ago for war crimes it worked pretty well I got to Australia then got shanked in a bar by a male prostitute

We need a revival Billy Joel , the faith has been long gone. We need a resurrection.
We definitely need a musical drama biopic film about Billy Joel’s life and career starring Ben Platt as Billy Joel called “PianoMan” distributed by Sony/ Columbia Pictures. Who else Billy Joel fans agrees with me?
👇🏽
The end of this video would be considered racist today I fear, even though I believe there was absolutely no intent whatsoever
What's the dude's name who got his shoes shined and gave the little boy a $100? He looks so familiar!!!! Can anyone help me out with the answer to that?
Richard Pryor cameo 0:07 AWESOME.
"They say Justice is blind-- I sure hope it ain't deaf."
Senior quote right there
What a remarkable singer! I love how Billy Joel's songs have so many different styles and instruments. I was born in 1991 but I prefer 50's to 80's music. This guy is definitely one of the greats in music history.
..."OH NO"..
Joe Piscopo at the end right? From the cult movie DEAD HEAT!
All of Billy Joel's music tells stories. His videos bring them to life.
"i found out a man ain't just be a nacho"
He had no rhythm to dancing but he knew how to write hits!!! And Brinkley was in almost every music video he made. Love that!!

Still don't know why Joe Piscopo pops up at the end of the video.
at the beginning, the judge sounds like he is trying to order a porterhouse steak. listen to it.
Yo, this is straight funky
Wasn't that Lionel Ritchie reading the newspaper at the beginning of the video?
Holy 80's Batman
He’s the voice of New York City
That was Richard Pryor getting the shoe shine
Who is the guy at the end of the video saying "Keep the Faith Kid"?
I don`t think there`s been a greater writer/record artist than Billy Joel. The man`s a genius plain and simple !
SUCH A DOUCHE BAG
This is a terribly cheesy video. Just like the 80s, when 🌽y suburban filth ruled the world. That temporary pass time rap crap was brushed off as 🐕💩. It will dry up in the sun y'all said. Now look at what it's become. It's some top level chees in rap too, whatever plays on hot 97 or power 105 I get it. But this level of worthlessness can only come out of the 80s. It's like most sense of reality was nullified in that decade. That's why the 90s hit so hard. Than the 2000 did more cheesball shit.
Now where in the time of Griselda Records Jay Cole and Rapsody. you're bugging if y'all think this s*** going to become popular again. It's going to die like vaudeville from the 20s.... I really do like Billy Joel, but this sorry excuse for a video just got to me.
Best of the best would love to see him live on my list
I was here for the pompadour. Did not disappoint . Thank you, billly Joel!
I always thought this was the most underrated Billy Joel song.
We only play doo-wop Billy Joel sir, strictly 80's.
I'm not sure what he's on trial for here, but 35 years later, he'd be defending himself against Marvin Gaye's family for "stealing Gaye's style" in this song.
U Talkin U2 To Me/Staind Glass brought me here.
What a great good fun song .
That’s the real king folks ..

i love his court room
“And I know sometimes it’s hard to ‘Keeping the Faith’”!
Christie Brinkley in the Chevy just brilliant.
1:16 is when the music starts
The good ol days ain't as good as we thought
I love Billy Joel!
I was 13 when this song came out. Remember listening to it during a drive with my dad. He ended up liking the album because it was an homage to the music he grew up on. When Billy started describing how he used to dress, I recall a laugh and Dad told me about fashion when he was a teen. The memories stay.
"my past is something that never got in my way"
It's kinda funny to be nostalgic about a song that's about nostalgia..But I do miss those mid 80's days..But if I start to reminisce to much, I remember the line "The good old days weren't always good & tomorrow's not as bad as it seems"..Brilliant and true..That line alone is as good as anything from Dylan thru Mccartney..
2019 Anyone?? 👍👏👏👏👏
ight am i the only one that think billy joel looks like michael keaton?
They don't make em like this bo more, heck I wasn't even born in the 80s and already know this type of music is better than what Pop is now.
Тне ман
he was so good at telling a story, yes 80's vids were cheesy, that;s why they were loved then and coming back now
I'm so glad, because it's sort of a second childhood.
Judge: "I want those doors closed, and I want them KEPT closed!"
Person 1 and Person 2: * close doors*.

Judge: "Idiots!!! you forgot to LOCK them!!!"
THE GOOD OLD DAY'S 1970AND 1980
The generated annotations are wild. :)
Feel good song
isn't that Richard Pryor getting a shoe shine?
jim mazza yes
One thing is for sure.."Justice is not blind or deaf"..she's defending Mr.Joel's music and he's still "Keeping The Faith".
Honestly, is that Richard Pryor getting his shoes shined at the very start of the video?
Alex McMahon yes
Finally remembered the judge's name .. Richard B. Shull .. excellent "character" actor .. And he did pass away about 16 years later, doing, of all things, what he probably loved best .. suffered a h.a. while appearing in a major stage play in NYC .. RIP ...
Funny to see Joe Piscopo make that surprise appearance at the end .. I wonder if they are buds?
837 people completely lost their faith....
He's very Stallone in the opening...
Gosh I LOVED Billy and Christie together!!! I wish they could get together again- they just really seemed meant for each orher... Gee whiz
The judge is the Dunkin Donuts spokesperson, the lady in the chevy is Christie Brinkley, the man getting his shoe shined is Joe Piscopo
Sure I’m young and listen to rap n all that but billy Joel always brings it home for me💯💯💯💯
How do you know you like an artist? I just found like 5 songs I love and didn't know it's the same singer Billy Joel,😁😁.
Is the judge dumbledore? think about it.
Eavez dropping but I am keeping the faith ! Enjoy the music ..
He never sounds the same in his songs, pure genius
