I was and still am a huge Pumpkins but I hated this album when it first dropped. listening to it now I'm starting to get it. It's really growing on me. So I guess it's back to Zwan being the only think Corgan did that I really didn't like whatsoever.

Adore was perfect. It's different music to what they had done previously as James said due to the fact there's hardly any guitar for him to do in the studio, doesn't make it bad? From an emotional, creative standpoint I fucking loved that album. He had done nothing like songs like Behold the Nightmare, For Martha, To Shiela, Ava Adore, Blank Page, Once Upon a Time.. Such classics. I liken it to Radiohead going all electronic and still making amazing music. If it's good it's good.

They were all great and all you wrote is right, BUT, if you had listened to Smashing Pumpkins' "one or two notable songs" let´s say a billion times, those songs would have defined the 90ies for you, just like they did to me. I listened to all the Bands you mentioned, but Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins wrote the stuff I´ll always refer to as the Songs that had the most Influence on me in the 90ies. i think everyone has it´s own favorites and you can´t really argue about that, just my 2cents

You must not have explored all their albums to have come to that conclusion then.

Not blinded. Fully aware of my insane admiration for Chamberlin. And not 20 drummers but one plus 2 percussionists. Not shitty. But what I mean, why didn't Corgan hire Matt Walker full time? He played the U.S. leg of Mellon Collie tour, and did it brilliantly. Right after Chamberlin, he was the best drummer in the Pumpkins. To this day I wonder what Corgan was thinking of when he scrubbed him and decided that programming some shitty drum machines by himself would be better for Adore???

It's their best album, you're just blinded by your love of Chamberlin.. The music is magical and perfect.. The live version of that album with 20 drummers is crap and loses the magic, I was at the gig. Glad most don't get it!

This is cover its just amazing. And the fact that it makes everything a dream pop song, it makes it very obvious: to love somebody is like a dream. Yeah, a little corny, but that's how the song makes it!

The song is perfect. Just lacks one tiny ingredient. Chamberlin. It's why today I can't listen to this album. Every song is flawed simply by lack of Jimmy. Same story with Adore. I love this album more than my family, but I can't listen to it. Played live, Adore is just glaring. That's the only form of it listenable to me. But Future Embrace had very little live performances...

omg, i didn't realize this was billy corgan, because i always hated his voice, never bothered to remember his name...... aweful version.....i could never understand how this guy was successful ,his voice is a joke and its annoying( i was listening to the original version by the beegees, and it listed all these other artist that did their version, one of them was "Billy Corgan" so i typed the name......OMG he butchered the song.

@stoolet I too like BC. and have been a Cure fan for over 25 years! But if you are going to say that someone is A god (as in one of many) it will be spelled with a little "g". Yes, I'm being anal but this is an area that little "g" and big "G" get interchanged all the time and it is actually quite annoying. Kinda like I'm going to sit some chicken out to "unthaw". WTF?!?!?!? LOL

if you listen to them both you can hear that billy substitutes a lot of the chords with the relative minor chord, it makes the bee gees song sound almost upbeat and happy and this just sad.
i think i prefer billy playing this acoustic though

This is an excellent cover of the Bee Gees original. It's not an exact replica, nor a disturbing intentionally experimented version...it's just got Billy and Robert written all over it. Excellent.
