Big & Rich - Deadwood Mountain Lyrics

I've been a rambler, all my life
Been a bet it all gambler
Yeah I let it all ride
Never been afraid of losin
Yeah there's been times I've lost it all
But it wont really matter
Someday when I'm gone

You can bury me on Deadwood Mountain
By my brother wild Bill and sister calamity Jane
Don't bring me no flowers
Just a six gun smokin
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me

When your heart runs deeper
Then a ghost town gold mine
You just know your bound to find that motherload
You'll spend your last heartbeat chasing after rainbows
No there's no place you won't go
To win one more time

You can bury me on Deadwood Mountain
By my brother wild Bill and sister calamity Jane
Don't bring me no flowers
Just a six gun smokin
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me

And cover me a little extra deep
Cause that's the only way
I'm gonna rest in peace

You can bury me on Deadwood Mountain
By my brother wild Bill and sister calamity Jane
Don't bring me no flowers
Just a six gun smokin
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me
Put me eight feet down
When you bury me

I want to have some of my ashes around there

What this song playing at my funeral

In real life, the mountain in Deadwood, SD where Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane Canary, Sheriff Seth Bullock, and Sol Star are buried is actually called Mt. Moriah. I’ve been there and laid flowers on their graves.

THANK YOU!! And a heckuva step walk up at that. Sandals not recommended! Saw the graves myself.

finalvoyage35 Lord, that’s true! It’s a helluva climb! Would love to go back this year or next! Virginia City, NV and the Comstock Territory are my next areas to explore. Are you excited for the Deadwood movie??? I can’t wait! I thought I was literally going to die from grief when they cancelled it after Season 3 because of the damn Writer’s Strike. I’m so glad they didn’t forget about it (It was originally supposed to be 3, full-length films, but I’ll be glad to finally see it. No Powers Boothe, though, but at least we’ll have the rest of the gang back!)

@tnfatbelly I had no idea movie was coming out. Didnt see series because thought it violent and couldnt keep up with story line and charachters. Same with Sons of Anarchy.

finalvoyage35 Yeah, it’s going to be wonderful. There is a ton of violence and language. You have to put up with that to watch it. But other than all the cussing (which you would’ve found in a rough place like a mining town! Many were very shady, criminals.

@tnfatbelly might go. My husband was into Deadwood, SOA, Justified, and others. I later changed my mind about SOA and watched from start. Deadwood could be another.

It's a awesome song and album

    C.... S....

It is *AN awesome song and album. How dare you disgrace with your ugly grammar.

  5. H.... A....

One of the best songs of all time... for some reason it's never on the radio

    H.... A....

It was never released as a single. Most of the best songs are buried in the albums and the more "sellable songs" are released as singles. Case in point, Toby Keith's Clancy's Tavern album had Red Solo Cup. While it is a fun song, Clancy's Tavern, Club Zydeco Moon, and Just Another Sundown are far better, but Red Solo Cup was more marketable.

  6. N.... ....

Should I be concerned that no one has commented on this yet?.. One of the best on the album.

    N.... ....

It is concerning sure , and I agree with you in top 4 songs on the album. Good music is a dinosaur these days.

    Awesome jam
