Big Country - I Walk The Hill Lyrics

Stand up, hold my hand
I hope you understand
Here where time is still, I walk the hill

Stand here, close to me
Here for all eternity
I wait as others will, I walk the hill

I held you then, I hold you still
I held you as I always will
You can have my heart to fill as I walk the hill

Stand up, hold my hand
I hope you understand
Here where time is still, I walk the hill

Stand here, close to me
Here for all eternity
I wait as others will, I walk the hill

I'm not strong as I am told
It feels too long since I was bold
But you can lie in sheets of gold if I walk the hill

You touch me and I understand
We only write our names in sand
But I can stand where legend stands if I walk the hill

Stand up, hold my hand
I hope you understand
Here where time is still, I walk the hill

Stand here, close to me
Here for all eternity
I wait as others will, I walk the hill

I'm not strong as I am told
It feels too long since I was bold
But you can lie in sheets of gold if I walk the hill

You touch me and I understand
We only write our names in sand
But I can stand where legend stands if I walk the hill

Stand up, hold my hand
Stand here, close to me
Stand up, hold my hand
Stand here, close to me
Stand up, hold my hand
Stand up, hold my hand

Always thought this song sounded much better live - something about the production of 'The Seer' doesn't quite do the band justice...maybe I'm quibling but 'The crossing' has dated better than this album and 'Steeltown'.

No and they knew the production wasn't them from the get-go but it was a battle from the record company to make them more commercial, of course the corporates always win...but I'm not sure if it would've made that much difference, the debut is still a phenomenon that will probably never be matched again from a Scottish group imo. One thing that is a shame during this era is the relentless write-record-tour cycle they were pressured into with hardly any rest inbetween, their creativity effectively stifled. The debut was given much more time to settle and road-test, it's obvious why it was such a masterpiece in comparison.
