Benson, George - Turn Out The Lamplight Lyrics
Comin' home is always joy to me
Ain't a place that I would rather be
I need to see the heaven in your eyes
'Cause you're the love that's always hard to find
Only you can make the day end right
So turn out the lamplight
Sit by my side, love me tonight
So turn out the lamplight
Let's dream for a while just you and I
And we'll let the world go spinning by
On a day when problems get me down
It's nice to think about the love we found
And though the years may make me old and gray
Darling you'll still take my breath away
'Cause time can't change the warmth inside your smile
So turn out the lamplight
Sit by my side, love me tonight
Turn out the lamplight
Let's dream for a while just you and I
And we'll let the world go spinning by
Sit by my side
Sit by my side and love me, love me tonight
Turn out the lamplights and let's dream
Let's dream for ??
Yes, you and I
Oh, sit by my side

Benson, George Turn Out The Lamplight Comments
An ex schooled me to this album... I still use this song to go sleep...
The phenomenal Rod Temperton wrote this , performed brilliantly by GB, just love it and the riff at the end is magical.
I love the Quincy Jones version with George Benson. From the Album Q.

This song turned me into a fan 1980@2019
My ex lover used to play this song when we were in the bath together.love it !
This is a Beautiful song you get home at 6:00 you go take a shower put on something comfortable pour yourself a drink relax and unwind LOVE YOU MR. BENSON KEEP EM COMING
This tune always touches my heart, from a very young age (old soul)
When "This Masquerade" cracked the Top-40 in July of 1976 (Bicentennial month!), Benson was not a household name, except to Jazz listeners; I happen to know that a lot of people who heard that record for the first time, perhaps coming into the middle of it on their car radios, thought that they were hearing a new Stevie Wonder tune:
This track illustrates how easy it could be to make that error.
(As smooth and sexy as this 1980 recording is, I can't help but wonder how many children were conceived with it playing in the background.)
The entire album is flawless.
One sexy tune right here....

I Love this beautiful Song!
My parents played the hell out of this album. '79. Summer.
They'd have had a job,..... it wasn't released till august 1980.
Possibly the most beautiful song ever recorded
Hands down the best G.B. love ballad EVER! If there's better, I haven't heard it.
his cover of "Unchained Melody" is stellar!
Yes, this is one of the greatest GB songs ( and therefore one of the greatest songs ever recorded ). "Love Dance" from the same album is also superb, as is "Love all the hurt away" ( different album ). Give Me the Night is an incredible album....
@Daniel Hines I agree. Love All the Hurt Away leaves me speechless.
I agree Sir.
Oh yeah, this is the spot that I wanna be in! Play on George. Play on.
you know this was originally recorded by heatwave from the 1979. album hot property
I still have Heatwave's "Hot Property" album. Also have George Benson's "Give Me The Night" album. Like both versions.
