Bennett, Tony - This Is All I Ask Lyrics
As I approach the prime of my life
I find I have the time of my life
Learning to enjoy at my leasure
All the simple pleasure
And so I happily concede
That this is all I ask
This is all I need
Beautiful girl, walk a little slower when you walk by me
Lingering sunset, stay a little longer with the lonely sea
Children everywhere, when you shoot at bad men, shoot at me
Take me to that strange enchanted land
Grownups seldom understand
Wandering rainbows, leave a bit of color for my heart to own
Before the night has flown
And let the music play as long as there's a song to sing
And I will stay younger than spring

Bennett, Tony This Is All I Ask Comments
Believe it or not, Tiny Tim does a nice version of this.
I'm going to sing this next year at the International karaoke contest in Vegas! Wish me luck! If I can sing it half as well as Tony, I'll be on top!!!
Wat a crooner is Tony outstanding
This is such a beautiful song/lyrics, and Tony certainly does it justice. Many have recorded this lovely song, but this is a favorite! Frank Sinatra also has a great version of this song. Gordon Jenkins wrote this song in 1958 and Nat King Cole was one of the first to record it that year. Sinatra had a hit from it in 1965 with an arrangement by Jenkins.

An amazing man, musically speaking he is inspirational. This is a great interpretation of a beautiful song
Today is the 90th birthday of Tony Bennett! The song "This Is All I Ask" undeniably belongs to him.
IT Belongs to PERRY.
I great recording by a great singer and human being. Happy 90th birthday next week, Tony Bennett.
Tony is the best of the best bar none. I also love it by Jerry Vale and Jimmy Roselli.
Don't forget PERRY.
Never cared much for Tony's vocals, but I've got to hand it to him on this one. With this arrangement and version of this song, HE KILLED IT. Much better than ANY version of this song EVER recorded. I definitely don't like the duet he did with Josh Groban though.
BELONGS TO PERRY,
George benson nails this song
I've never heard a bad rendition of this tune, but my favorite is George Benson.
who cares?
You obviously have some kind of bromance going with Tony. I hope he answers one of your fan letters soon.
Wonderful song. I personally prefer the version by Nat King Cole to this one. As is most often the case, my favorite of all, is the one by Sinatra.
Sinatra can do no wrong!!!
+Joy D'Alessio nonsense! Even he said Tony was the best!
+Dachay4 typical Sinatra fan.
It's funny, but I always associate this song in my mind with Maurice Chevalier and his French accent because that's how I first heard it. He did a nice job, and was the right age to be singing it :-)
beautiful but still Sinatra version of 1965 is far superior
who? got to be one in every crowd!
Sorry, TONY owns this song
This is the definitive version of this song. My brother played this at his wedding. It is Tony at his zenith, and nobody can ever match this.
Best version of this great song in my opinion is Matt Monro. TB is still awesome though.
absolutely,,,and i love the tony,and nat versions,,but Matt WoW!!!!
i am not trying to be rude but who is NKC?
Nat King Cole
@catman916
thank you
It's a matter of opinion, but I prefer NKC.
please tell me whos better!
One of my unforgettable songs
bellissimo...Tony...bellissimo...
"And I will stay younger than spring." What a great line.
Wonderful...
Thanks...

Thanks so much for posting!
Recorded on April 26, 1963. The Ralph Sharon Trio accompanies Tony, with Ralph Burns as arranger/conductor.
This one....
This song belongs to Frank Sinatra, not TB. As great as he is, he can't touch 'Ol Blue Eyes on this track.
