Benatar, Pat - Outlaw Blues Lyrics
You were better than the best
Stayed a notch above the rest
It was rainin' in heaven when you went down
Your mother cried, said she told you so
No one controls the outlaw
You wrote the book with the movie in mind
An angel face with a criminal side
Celebrated as the rebel kind
The outlaw
I wonder if you knew they would
Turn your bad deeds into good
Paint you as a modern Robin Hood
It's high noon
Everywhere you go
And the guilt you feel is the weary soul
Of the outlaw
Hearts weren't made to be ruled
And rules weren't made to be broken
It's cold and lonely at the end of your life
And nobody sleeps 'til they turn out the lights
For the outlaw
Where you gonna go, where you gonna hide
It's cold and lonely for the outlaw
Where you gonna go, where you gonna hide
The outlaw

Benatar, Pat Outlaw Blues Comments
Heard Pat Benatar on the radio today and found this again, love it !
I find everything on the radio.
Brilliant song
Outcasts, callused from being in exile for too long, learn to thrive on being the hated; the attention and infamy of our actions fuel us to become antiheroes. Too often do we forget: we risk self-destruction if we fail to follow what we know is right; our talents too often become misplaced, misdirected, misguided from what could have been something wonderful.”
Mike Norton, Fighting For Redemption

Get in Pat, what a corker, Toptastic Toon.....!!!!!
my favorite to sing
its mine you bitch.
People need to understand that "Outlaw Blues" is a song about celebrities that fell from grace the way Lucifer fell from heaven. Although this song by Pat Benatar can be educational, entertaining, and even inspiring, we don't want to become outlaws in the eyes of God like the celebrities who really need to stop being celebrities. It's best for everyone to avoid social media, to avoid public praise, and most of all, to avoid becoming a celebrity.
A strong case can be made that some can handle celebrity better than others. The Olsen Twins used it to create a billion-dollar fashion empire. John Cena has the record for the most "wishes fulfilled" for the Make-A-Wish Foundation (over 500!). Many other celebrities have not forgotten that their fans helped put them where they are, and show their gratitude by using their celebrity for good works. So it's not a hard-and-fast rule that celebrity corrupts--some have mastered their celebrity and continue to use it for good.

THANK YOU ! I LOVE BOTH VERSIONS But THIS ONE BECAME MY FAVE
pat please kome to nairobi
Both versions are awesome. Pat and Neil started doing more of a version like this in their live show so they decided to re-record it based on that. I think this one has more punch and brings out the hard life theme of the story in a more dramatic way. The LP version is more a feeling of the mood and sadness of this soul that she is singing about. Fits better with the flow of Tropico. Both get an A+ It's not really an extended or remixed so much as a re-recorded different arrangement of a great track.
best song with the great singer beautiful!
isn't the "1989 Remix" bonus track from the single "ONE LOVE Song of the Lion" ?

I grew up listening to her, but I never understand the hell is wrong with the song's end. Just when the track boosts up it just ends.
and what you like? she have not good songs

great song with the best singer, fantastic!!
Very different from the version of Tropico. I prefer the other
I am STILL looking for the album version -- not the gimp version.
you have to be shitting me.
I used to have this cranked while driving my rig across the prairies... It could never be loud enough.
the outlaw blues from Serpico, any one?please?
Both versions are good IMO
I actually don't really like Hit me very much...
far better than the original off of Tropico, the drums and that beautiful alto drive this song
Incredible version of an incredible song. Far too underrated. Why do they play friggin Hit Me With Your Best Shot on the radio and not stuff like this?
Just like some other epic songs from other legends, when it starts to be more awesome, it ends. Why?????????????
so my son...stay strong...smile
One of my faves. I read that they started doing this version in the live shows, lovef it so when best shots came out they rerecorded it. I love both. Pats voice is a rare treasure
my all time FAVORITE!!!!
@yakidk89 I have this song from her greatest hits CD that bears the cover that's shown in the video.
Wow! Never heard this version. I only know the album version. Where can I get this mix??
pat please come to france
a remixed version was perfect for this GH package .. I wouldnt call the song one of her best ..but this remixed version made up for it .. Le Bel Age (the FULL version) is a far superior song that should have been included on this cd ...
she have not geat songs at all
from the album Tropico ~1984
Thank you! Love this song, both versions of it.
