The lyrjcs of this song are "so Robin"! It should have been arranged for him or sung as a co-lead. He always got the shorter stick….I don't blame him for feeling bitter. His face in the video speaks volumes! 😒

Barry’s voice suits this one. I’m sure Robin would have sang it if he wanted to but obviously they agreed that Barry had the voice for this song

Robin felt bitter in the late 60s, when Stigwood (their manager) put Barry’s songs on the A side and Robin’s on B side so he went off on his own for a while. That was then, and wasn’t Barry’s fault

And Robin’s face is the face of someone who’s wife split up with him, and that’s what the song is about

Barry wrote all songs, and Robin and Maurice weren’t involved in the production cause they were working on Robin’s solo album.

All Staying Alive songs were produced by Barry, Karl Richardson and Albhy Galuten. It’s their sound. And like on Guilty, Barry couldn’t claim it.

It’s Barry who felt bitter. Always outnumbered by the twins, who often would only speak amongst themselves.

If you would have let Maurice produce this song, it would sound as kitch and plastic like the whole Robin solo album he filled with his amateur sounding keyboards.

By this stage one feels they were ready to close out their contract with RSO with this and other tracks for the mediocre sequel to SNF, but still gave their best! Don't think they ever did any of the tracks live?

That is cause Barry produced and wrote all songs and the twins weren't involved, they were doing Robin's solo album. So they considered it a Barry solo project, and it was later ignored in live performances.

Which was a real tragedy, cause this brilliant gem exceeds a lot of the mediocre album tracks they did perform later on in concerts..

LOVE the Bee Gees! This is such a good song too! Not sure why it wasn't a hit. Then again, it was released in the 80s when the music industry treated them like pariahs. Barry Gibb was truly a visual delight when he was younger.
