Beatles, The - Tomorrow Never Knows Lyrics

Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream
It is not dying, it is not dying

Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining

Yet you may see the meaning of within
It is being, it is being

Love is all and love is everyone
It is knowing, it is knowing...

... that ignorance and hates may mourn the dead
It is believing, it is believing

But listen to the colour of your dreams
It is not living, it is not living

So play the game "Existence" to the end...
... Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning
Of the beginning, of the beginning

Beatles, The Tomorrow Never Knows Comments
  1. H.... S....

This is the song that got played when the NVA and Viet Cong soldiers tried to take over the main radio station at Saigon during the Tet Offensive of '68. They captured the station to broadcast calls for mass uprising against the 'puppet government' but the engineers at the broadcast antenna realised what was happening and what eventually got played was classical waltz and Beatles songs

  2. B.... S....

    First Techno Song !!!

  3. .... D....

I can imagine a Beatle (mainly John) being asked “Have you ever done drugs?” and replying “Well, how do you think we made Revolver and the like?”

  4. M.... G....

One of my favorites. John knew: 'it is shining, it is shining'....... i've had 2 or 3 visions in my sober life.... beyond words, but 'it is shining' comes close.

  5. B.... ....

    YeaH it do3es.
That love is all and love is
    EVERYONE
I've always thought Charlie would've done better if he used this album instead.

That you may see the meaning of within.

  6. C.... S....

And if their fans thought this was the end, it was. But it wasn't the end of the end. It was the end of the beginning. Their next album "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" proved that this was only the start of The Beatles' new image and sound. As of writing this, I wonder how many bands have tried to perform this with live instruments.

  7. .... ....

Lennon’s drug song. 1966, Dylan’s “Rainy day woman #12&35”, Donovan’s “Mellow yellow” and others charted in. How wonderful the time was!

  8. J.... ....

    This is some good techno

  9. J.... R....

    What can one say?

  10. J.... H....

The Beatles in 1963: She loves you yeah yeah yeah!!

  33. E.... K....

It was McCartney's idea to use the tape loops and he made most of them, so never forget that what's innovative about this song is Paul McCartney's contribution to it.

  34. N.... ....

They copied this song and arrangement from the Chemical Brothers "Let Tomorrow Be".
    just kidding lol

  35. S.... Y....

My Father, was the United States Chief Inspector...《1960's》
    To the Office of the Inspector General Office, { logistic and operational defences for the United States Dept of Defense!}

I grew up in a military family....

How EVER my mother also very strict...had the vibe of "Beat"... that in 1942 drew my father to her!

My mother {classic jitterbug} danced at the Hollywood Paladium , to the Big Bands!

    In 1942...
She Came to Sacramento, to the
Mc Clellan Army Air Corp... to be an inspector of operational parts.

The beginning of a wonderful whirl of romantic love from my dad to my mom
...that endured 65 years of complete solitude, to the tenacity of 100% of "Love"

That's when mom, taught my dad his dancing moves

    So many beautiful stories of the 40's when my parents met. [My dad was hand chosen by Colonial Doolittle to assist with the operational strategically attack over Tokeo}

I LOVE and miss my parents

Oh I forgot to tell you...

It was my mom that instilled the vibe and beat of the Beatles, within my dad's soul of character!
When my dad lost my mom at 90, married 65 years....

    My dad [thanks to
    My mom]
    was the hippest,
    and coolest
    "Military" man ever!

As I would play this song when my dad needed his oxygen....

And then he didn't need the oxygen....

    My dad saying to me,
    Saying ;
" You know I listen to the words of those boys....
    And they're right!
I need to relax and float down stream..."!

I remember 1967 my 8th grade English teacher who I had a crush on. A real gorgeous hippie chick.
She brought her portable turntable and this album to class.
My teacher started telling us stories about her experiences in Haight-Ashbury cuz she had just came from there.
She dimmed the lights in the class. She got up and walked around the class with a bag of M&M's, handing one M&M to each of us and saying now.
I want you to listen to this one song. It was Tomorrow Never Knows and picture yourself on a trip.
That was the first time I ever heard about LSD.
I remember writing it on the chalkboard as I left the room that day.
I caught the Psychedelic 60s right at the right moment in time.

    T.... H....

@Javier Gil Vidal she blew my mind like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

    T.... H....

@Javier Gil Vidal LSD was legal at that time.

    T.... H....

Gosh, nowadays, kids would go home, tell their parents and this teacher would be fired and go to jail or something. Geez, i though I had an experimental 7th grade teacher, but he only brought in Orson Welles' "The War of the Worlds" and had us listen to it daily until completion.

    T.... H....

@Javier Gil Vidal I see you missed the whole sixties.

    T.... H....

@Tony Harris Born in 1959, you may say I did, yeah. But THIS shit we wallow in is the direct consequence of the sixties, the most nicely dressed time-bomb ever planted into the ship of the West.

This is the birth of the Chemical Brothers. And them using Junior Parkers version of this song in their live opening is a tremendous tribute to music.

    What was the question?
    Love is the answer

  81. w.... ....

Tomorrow Never Knows was the first song the Beatles recorded for Revolver, but they knew it was a different piece of music. It was placed as the last song on the album as if to say: this song represents the future of music, Tomorrow Never Knows. This song proves that it is possible to feel music and for music to be multi-dimensional. In addition to providing the song's title, Ringo's drumming is awesome and for me it's the outstanding performance on the song. However, there are no fills and no rolls. It's just beat and rhythm which, interestingly, is not quite right: one feels late, and the two tom hits are early, classic Ringo falling down the stairs drumming, which makes it absolutely perfect for a song which conjures both confusion and searching in the dark.

  82. N.... ....

    Tomorrow indeed never knows

  83. J.... A....

Kind of sounds like the B 52's

Why does no one talk about Johns’s use of the bass drum..seriously..this is the foundation of rap and all R&B music for the next 40 years..I don’t even need to talk about the lyrics which are so profound that we should do nothing but follow his lead.

  89. M.... W....

i thought George sung this when i first heard this

  90. o.... ....

Tomorrow Never Knows is why Revolver is better than Rubber Soul

When we first heard this, we knew something exceptional was happening. To this day, I am so glad I was a teen in this era, to have lived in it, experienced it, been part of it. This is music that will last for hundreds of years. Most of it from that era will.
